My gawd...whhhaaatttt? This is sooo shocking!!! How did we never see this coming. How could he just leave without even mentioning this to anyone...it is like the Browns leaving for Baltimore in the middle of the night...it is like HB leaving his first girlfriend...it is like Cip forgetting a song from only three decades ago! Goodness, I may never, ever get over the shock.5 points -

2022 off-season moves: Hoiberg vs. Frost

I think coaching, culture and chemistry are way more important than highly rated players right now. We just had a 5 star freshman and I wasn’t very happy with how that worked out. A bunch of mercenaries hasn’t worked out for us. I like the makeup of our roster for getting those things established next season. Just depends on how Fred coaches them. I hope the addition of coach Howard helps in that regard.3 points -

I know there were questions of her status. This comes moments after Nebraska announced that Mayan is not coming back to the mens team...oh yeah, Lat has already played games on his new pro team in Australia. Better late than never https://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/womens-basketball/tatiana-popa-no-longer-on-nebraska-womens-basketball-team/article_14c8cda3-9b3a-57d2-bb9f-217a50fdeb5f.html2 points -

2022 off-season moves: Hoiberg vs. Frost

I'm with you. We're hearing a lot about how some coaches are getting out because it's changing so much, and that the 3 c's you listed aren't as important. And that being a GM/Team Builder is more important now... I just wholeheartedly disagree. I think the coaches who are able to buckle down and dig in with building their cultures are going to be more successful. If you're worried about players leaving - you're doing in wrong. You can treat them as well as you want, give them opportunities, and even success - and they might jolt the second they get a better opportunity. If your culture is strong it won't matter. You shouldn't be actively running players off - but if you're not demanding a level of accountability because you're afraid, you're doing it wrong imo.2 points -

Would be nice if we could apply some of that to fielding a basketball team that isn't totally embarrassing.2 points -

since things are slow this time of the year...some Minnesota info from a podcast. was told to listen to a segment on minnesota wbb coach lindsay whalen. the two reporters stated that they are hearing nothing but great things about whalen from the "inside". since she was hired, it has been a rather awkward transition. it was a big struggle in-house the past couple of years. with the holdovers gone, and the "great" recruiting class coming in---she will now begin to have her own team. discussion of Paige Bueckers came up---Stollings (head coach at the time) never set foot in Hopkins building (where Bueckers played her hs ball). the inside discussion....if whalen would have been hired a year earlier, these guys were hearing minnesota would have landed Bueckers. btw, it was well known Bueckers was/is a huge fan of whalen. well, as they say, time will tell.1 point -

"The Kool-Aid is already flowing as we hit the summer." Yes, that it is. I'll cheer on the huskers no matter what. but until the football team and basketball team suites up and shows what they have on the field/court playing real teams I'm not drinking any koolaid.1 point -

2022 Transfer Portal
AuroranHusker reacted to Fullbacksympathy for a topic
The improvement was also hand in hand with trusting his competent assistants (not MA) to do their job. Fred was surprised he was given another year and it put a pep in his step. This is something I really, really like about Alberts—he likes to work with what he has and make it successful instead of coming in, threatening the coaches, and ultimately firing them. He’s the real deal. My affinity for Hoiberg’s ceiling has obviously lessened, but I still think there’s a brilliant basketball mind in there if he has kids like him on the roster (smart, unselfish, and arrive motivated). He may very well have those players for the first time he’s been here. The recruiting haul they’ve made over the summer is also a testament to working together as a staff in the recruiting realm. After the SMU transfer, I’m cautiously optimistic.1 point
