Thanks for asking, royalfan. The bone marrow transplant worked. All his bloodwork numbers have gone up steadily since October when we brought him home. He got the transplant in June of last year, and there were some scary times in between. Two weeks ago, he went to the Buffett Cancer Center with a staph infection in his leg. The infection tanked his numbers, but they've been improving on their own. He's been home now for a week, and is improving. Long story short, we know God healed him long ago. Sometimes it takes time to be revealed in the natural. Kinda like Nebraska Basketball.15 points

This is kind of where I end up with some of these kids. Would a lot of the good mid major kids be good if they were riding the pine at a higher level school? Or does the valuable experience they get playing at a lower level allow them to develop? I actually lean toward the latter. It is much easier to get better at things with experience actually doing said things.6 points -

What you'll find if you read the dissenting opinions of the "All other rulings" category, is that often the dissenting opinion doesn't actually disagree with the main crux of the case. They disagree with a minor aspect, or disagree with how narrow or broad the ruling should be (i.e. should this case set precedent for other similar cases), or sometimes just want to have their thought process documented for posterity. If they literally had to check a box of yay or nay with no ability to explain their rationale, I think you'd see over 50% unanimous.1 point -

Just to limit some revisionist history, in 2019 Mike Sautter had Baylor as the 4th best prospect in the class behind Akol Arop, Shiloh Robinson, and Javen Udofia. I really don't think that not offering him then was as big of a miss as some people think. FWIW, rounding out the Top Ten was Charlie Easley, Brady Danielson, Wes Dreamer, Jaylin Hunter, Nico Felici, and Bret Porter. Ended up getting 3 of the top 10 on the roster. https://omaha.com/sports/high-school/recruiting/photos-class-of-2019-nebhsrecruiting-basketball-rankings/collection_6c2e35d4-9988-11e7-80de-ef190046d1e0.html1 point -

Scheierman is a very good player and it would be great if he ends up a Husker, but let's not compare him to Larry Bird. Bird is as good as anyone who has ever played the game. Don't think Scheierman is on that level.1 point -
This is as must get as a must get ever gets. Have probably watched over 100 of his football and basketball games. He has the it factor that cannot be taught. He is the best player on the court or field at all times is his mind set. Mind blowing passer, elite 3 point range, elite rebounder. Having this skill set in a tall body makes it incredibly hard to game plan for as you cannot replicate his skill set in practice. His foot speed is the biggest flaw. He is still able to defend quicker players by having elite basketball smarts. Knows exactly how much room to give while still being able to contest the shot with his length. His preferred game is not really banging down low as a small ball 4 but can certainly do it in stretches. He had never been on a bad team in his life and I expect it to be no different if we could get him here. Still pulling for him to land that NBA gig if he thinks time is right. If needs place to showcase at a higher level, Nebraska a natural elite fit. Family very important to him for starters. Hour from Aurora for his parents and younger brother to watch him play.1 point

Not as a true freshman. The talent gap from Nebraska C-1 to B1G is enormous. It'll take him time to get caught up to speed anyway, so might as well do that while logging minutes in the Summit League. And as for the "you didn't believe in me" aspect, that actually would play in Nebraska's favor. At least we respected him enough to give him a roster spot, even if not a scholarship. That's more than any other major conference school can say.1 point -

Not surprised at all. Next step is to have attorneys suing schools for more money to players....or any other thing you can think of that might happen. I'm to old school I guess. Remember when just the thought of getting your free ride to college paid for was huge. Who ever caved to the idea of the transfer portal as it currently is, and the NIL money pit. ..what monster(s) have been unleashed. When money becomes a determining factor... then Katy bar the door. Have heard of certain UNL athletes supposedly making huge NIL figures already. Free use of cars for endorsements..etc etc UNL has become a leader of the NIL "experience" Haiby thankfully has benefited from NIL. Has to be others in many sports. It is what it is. Stay tuned.0 points
