  1. HUGE WIN !!!!!!

  2. Really needed that win, now have 2 quad 1 wins on the year.

  3. I'm not. I watched him shed all that weight on his own before the first season started, play with zero fear against every opponent, flash some skill here and there, play physical to the best of his ability, and get cut. I knew when he shed the weight he was a keeper because it meant it he was motivated to do the work and get better on his own. Completely horrible decision to turn him loose.

  4. Agree that playing Weidner with Sam and Jaz was effective. I think you still start Scoggin because Weidner brings more explosiveness off the bench. Would like to see Porter gain some confidence as she has nice size to defend taller wings. We defended Patberg and Gulbe well last night and the Hoosiers were ineffective from the three point line. Now, we don’t need to stumble Thursday at Penn State.

  5. Five point lead at the end of the third turns into a 17 point win. That's poise.

  6. Tension was pretty high for both teams in the 4th. Indiana has some players who have a chip on their shoulder. Nice to see our girls keep their cool but also not back down. Starting to notice a trend with Amy Williams. Scoggin is sitting more and Weidner who is a better defender and ball handler is on the court with Jaz and Sam in the closing minutes of the 4th. With teams pressing us we need her skill set to manage it better.

Bella played with great effort. Not intimidated in the least. The entire team played aggressively. Well done ladies. That was fun!!

  10. Great victory. Girls were gritty and tough. It’s fortunate that players on both squads didn’t get injured. That was a poorly officiated game.

Leigha probably had/has a lot of people chirping in her ears. The only people I've had to either talk to or ban from the women's section in the last 5 years have been two of Brown's overzealous family members.

  14. In case anyone was interested, Iowa lost to Maryland last night. While Clark was getting attention for her triple doubles she did have 10 turnovers last night. I would not mind seeing her add to that stat line a bit more.

I like Coach splitting the minutes. The one thing I question is timing of the substitutions. I wish she would play the hot hand more. She pulled Weidner early, when she had just rattled off 6 quick points. She hadn't been in long, didn't appear to be sucking wind. Same thing late. Sam went on a tear for a couple of minutes, and was substituted for. She did come back in shortly, and luckily still had her drive game going. Maybe she needed a blow? Looked like she was on a roll. In reality, nothing to whine about. The girls played great. Coaches had them ready to go. Well done!!

  16. It is an injustice that this team hasn't previously been ranked. I mean, I expect they will be now. But it should have come sooner. Is the national media hanging the futility of the Husker men around the Husker women's necks? I mean they're different programs. Give the ladies the cred they deserve. They've earned it. Go Huskers!

One thing worth mentioning if I dare: free throw shooting and layups (or shots close in generally I mean by that). They probably want to work on those a little more. Obvious I know. Yet they still kicked major Hoosier butt!! Pretty incredible.

  21. What strikes me about these numbers is how remarkably bad this program has been during my lifetime. Sure, we’ve had a season here and a season there, but our best men’s basketball coach in the past 40+ years was 57% overall and 44% conference? Really puts the futility of Nebraska basketball in perspective. There has to be a special place in heaven for Huskers Hoops fans.

  25. Ed is the kind of guy that transfers away and in a year or two he's the beast we wish we could have kept around. It's been a minute since we had a guy like him. I'm thinking Ubel. I sure would like to see him stick around.

  26. It's not that Fred doesn't have Otz as much as he doesn't have a guy like Otz who likely was the sheriff of accountability while at Iowa St. Not sure if Otz will run a perennial power at ISU but his ability to change his style based on his roster seems like a good sign for his future success. As far as Johnson goes, the impressive thing about him was winning some of the games he did with the roster he has in year one. Time will tell what sort of coach he is once he starts filling the roster with that pool of local talent.

  27. I do think Brown had some in her ear while at NE. We do not know the dynamic between her, her teammates, and coaches. Just the one comment from Sam about the team from the shortened season and I don't she named Brown but it felt like a reference to her. Moving on...I think Weidner will continue the rest of this year to come off the bench. I just noticed last night's game and maybe a couple more when we was up she was installed to help with the press late in games. We have four games left before the B1G tourney and if we play the way we are capable of we can add four more wins.

The one thing we all need to recognize is that when Leigha was coming off the bench and was 6th player of the year she was a sophomore. Allison is a freshman and gaining more playing time each game. She and Alexis have already demonstrated their great upside potential. The thing that was bugging me the most was that Allison was not in the close games earlier in the year during crunch time. Her minutes have been increasing and hopefully she will continue to be in the game during crunch time going forward.

I'm not necessarily defending Fred here, but it's looking like the narrative earlier in the season that his success at Iowa State was all Otz is looking more and more like a false one all the time. I mean, heck, look at Ben Johnson. He also started off at Minnesota looking like a potential COTY candidate, and now not so much. The Gophs are 2-9 in 2022 after squeaking past Penn State at home Saturday. Better record than us sure...but we have the H2H.

  30. Derrick Walker is the only guy who has been here all 3 years of the Hoiberg era. What percentage of him getting better can we attribute to the coaching staff and what percentage is him being dedicated to getting better? I find it hard to determine our developmental ability because of our continuity issues.

  36. At the half... Really beating them badly on the boards... and our shooting percentage is very good. ....not fouling them.......Prescriptions to win. Make our free throws and we'd be way ahead. We're winning the game on the floor play..and defense The games ours ours to lose Will Indiana pull out the press ? They'll have to do something different than they did in the first half. Will we adapt?

Cozad's population is 3,787. 0.26% of Americans are named Eric. Statistically speaking, there are likely only 10 Erics in Cozad.

  42. Your point of view is based on a poor interpretation of what you think is happening as opposed to what is actually happening. Half your post is filled with "I assume" so I don't understand why you think you're the one who is on the money. Thus you are happy with Matt for recruiting some wings while simultaneously not happy with Matt for not recruiting a PG.

  44. This, although MA seems to have brought in another decent class for next season. This is on Fred for a lack of discipline, IMO. I don't think he knows how to motivate entitled players, which means he needs to step in and recruit guys like him--high character kids who don't need motivation in the same sense because they love the game too much not to have pride in how they play every possession. That's how he was. That's who he needs. With regard to the above problem of motivation, Gates is the absolute last person on staff we should let go.

  45. I think you meant to tag Diehard rather than me. That being said, I agree Fred was left a mess from a returning talent perspective. But that doesn’t mean he’s not culpable in what’s going on right now. If we can’t afford $20M for football, we can’t afford $18.5M for basketball. So he’ll keep his job moreso for that than the direction we’re heading. im sure there will be some reworking of the contract in case he wins 7 again next year.

  50. I have numerous friends that are Creighton or Iowa fans. It's the worst. Five 18+ point losses to Creighton and Iowa since Fred took over. I used to enjoy back and forth banter with these friends, now they just pity me. Sucks when our rivalries feel more like we're a mid-major getting ready to get blasted by a P5 team for the 20th time in a row.
