  1. He was very good in last Friday's scrimmage. He was second leading scorer behind Quaran. White just barely beat the Red. The teams weren't evenly split either. Red had most people's projected top 8. This is a very deep team. Can't wait for tomorrow night.

  2. The 2020-2021 season was full of ups-and-downs, but mainly just full of uncertainty. One thing that remained consistent: we still completed a full season of Husker Hoops Central Challenge! I appreciate everyone's patience and adaptability in making that happen. With that said... HUSKER HOOPS CENTRAL CHALLENGE IS BACK! Looking back, things were tough. Schedules were changing, lots of uncertainty as to how long our season would ultimately last, and just appreciating any basketball games we were allowed to have. Last season, we switched to a percentage prediction for some of our bonuses because of the potential of games being added or dropped. This season, we're going to go with what's on the schedule. If any game is canceled due to COVID-related (or even not COVID-related) reasons, that's just bad luck on our part for a prediction. So really it's "business as usual." For those not familiar with Husker Hoops Central Challenge (HHCC), you're in the right place. The rules are simple. Just make a prediction for each game. That's it. And you don't even have to join in on Day 1; jump in whenever you can and you're in on the action. If you're out of the running for #1, there's still a chance to prove you're smarter than Ken Pomeroy! The more people that participate, the more fun this becomes. The rules are the same as last year with more opportunities to earn some bonus points throughout the season. Last year's Top 10 finishers were: 1 HuskerFever 2 REDZONEDAN 3 hhcmatt 4 BLB115 5 TheNovice 6 LNKtrnsplnt 7 BjoeHusker 8 brfrad 9 Crush78 10 UnicamMan *2 KenPom Ken Pomeroy achieved his highest position in HHCC, so now it's on us to put him back in his place. Now that we know the objective, let's go out there and have some fun! Game on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ HHCC SCORING AND RULES If you want to be part of the HHCC, all you need to do is guess the score of each game. Participants with at least one entry will be included in the overall standings. There will be a thread available following the completion of the previous game. Scoring is based on how close you were to each team's actual point total and the margin of victory. HHCC GAME SCORING: The object of the game is to have the lowest accumulated points at the end of the year. Scoring is taken from three variables (margin of victory, actual score, correct game winner); with possible bonus points. Margin of Victory: This is how many points either team wins by. Scoring: Difference between Actual MoV (Husker score & Opponent score) Predicted MoV (Predicted Husker score & Predicted Opponent score). This is then multiplied by 2. Bonus: There is a -5 bonus for correctly predicting margin of victory. To get the bonus two things must happen. 1. Your margin of victory must match the actual margin of victory. 2. You picked the correct winner. EXAMPLE Prediction: NU 79 Opponent 72 Actual: NU 72 Opponent 62 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- (Actual (72 62) = 10 - Predicted (79-72) = 7) = 3 * 2 = 6 MoV = 6 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Actual Score: This is the final point totals of both teams. Scoring: (Predicted Husker score vs. Actual Husker score) + (Predicted Opponent score Actual Opponent score) Bonus: There is a -5 bonus for correctly predicting either the Huskers score or the opponents. EXAMPLE Prediction: NU 79 Opponent 72 Actual: NU 72 Opponent 62 ------------------------------------------ (79 72) + (62 72) 7 + 10 = 17 ------------------------------------------ Game Winner: Picking the correct winner. Scoring: Zero points for correct winner. 20 point penalty for incorrect choice. The final score for this game would be 23. Correctly predicting the actual game score nets all -5 bonuses and a -25 bonus, for a best possible score of -40. Missed Game: Your score for missing a game is (the highest score of picked games + 25 points). End of year: Your highest score will be subtracted from your final point total. No Games Missed equals a -25 bonus to your final score. HHCC RULES: All new HHCC game threads will be posted following the previous game. The first game will be up after the last exhibition game. Post your prediction in the HHCC thread. All predictions must be in by the scheduled tipoff time (noted in the thread's title). Any corrections to your prediction should be done in the HHCC game thread. If you are unable to edit your score, just quote your previous score and post the new score underneath. All score updates will be posted throughout the season.

    One Week From Tonight

It all starts again. Excited to see the WB team on the floor beginning a new season. A lot of speculation from the past off season about how they will do. Who will play. How each player will do with the minutes they get. Will the team chemistry and camaraderie be as good as expected. It's only an exhibition game but we should start to get some answers to these questions. Competition will be there we just need to stay healthy.

  4. I worked at 1620 for a short period of time and Severe was one of the few guys who basically ignored me. He wasn’t a “diva” but he wasn’t really friendly. Never been a huge fan. John bishop(even though he is a blue Jay) is a great dude. Damon Benning is also a great guy. I would say most Nebraska media is somewhat thin skinned but so is the fan base. They hate Dirk but he is one of the more real journalists who is willing to piss people off to share a different opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    2021-2022 expectations

I spent some time in the sack with Lindy this breezy morning and was somewhat astonished to discover both Brad Davison and Jordan Bohannon had been granted their second decades of eligibility. Do we really need any extra motivation for beating both Wisconsin and Iowa this year???

  7. No, seriously. Who was it? It wasn’t me. I like the kid and I thought he would play. But I think it was @Nebrasketballer who called for him to start. I could be wrong.

  8. At the point Jaz, 2 spot Sam, 3 Coley, 4 Issie, 5 Bella, to start. Go with experience. But this first one is a scrimmage really, so Coach could do about anything. Anticipate everyone will play ..... entire bench will hit the floor. Really want to see all the true freshmen play. Markowski (we know what she can do) & especially Weidner ...how she looks in the college game ...and Moriarty's defense. Might be so much subbing in and out, it may be hard to get a real look at the "newbies" to the squad. But's time to fire away....enough practice ! This seems to be a positive energy team Get that vibe anyway..

  9. One of the best defenders. One of the best shooters. Also an explosive dunker. Who was calling for him to start earlier this fall?

  10. Once again, I have no clue how the scoring system works, nor do I want to learn how it works. I simply guess with my heart and not my brain...so winning this seems to be totally outside reality. That said, I guess each game religiously and truly appreciate your efforts in making this happen. Thank you!

  11. Starting five may be close to the same group but I will argue that a year more maturity and understanding the system will make them better. We should be be better on the perimeter this year. I liked Delano, but the dude really struggled on the perimeter. Good teams and the entire Big Ten could take advantage of a weakness like that. My hope is no such weakness exists this year. We still have a bucket load of slashers despite the loss of Delano; and that should be a continued strength of ours. Our interior game should be greatly enhanced this year. Yvan simply was a wasteland with the ball in his hands. Sorry...but true. Defensively we will miss Delano and Yvan. But Teddy was sort of a steal or bust defender. So I am guessing that as long as Doc is near, we will be a solid if not a way above average defensive team. But hey, here is a revelation, other teams have improved as well. I fully EXPECT us to be in the top half of the Big Ten...if so, fact so, playing in the dance.

  12. I've said in the past Wilhelm is the most talented big man we've recruited since at least Dave Hoppen, but I'm still surprised to hear him and "starting lineup" mentioned together. I was thinking he'd be an ideal 6th man, coming off the bench for either Walker or Mayen. But he's only gone through a summer of college strength and conditioning and he's like a high school kid, skinny as a bean pole. If he jumps over Walker, that's a big statement, I don't care what anyone else says. Walker is more than just a returning starter. As @millerhusker said above, Derrick was one of our steadiest, most consistent players a year ago. He's strong as hell. He can defend the post. Remember, he gave Kofi Cockburn fits. He shot 60% from the floor. And he contributed about 12 pts and 9 1/2 rebounds every 40 minutes. So, I mean, if Heem is good enough to leap over Walker to jump into the starting lineup, regardless what the rationale is, that's a big statement. Big statement. Don't downplay it. JMO.

  13. Size matters. That's what she said. Figured I'd fast forward and get right to the bawdy humor instead of waiting a couple of days for someone else to get around to it.
