  1. Just want to reemphasize. This is a big deal. Only two Nebraska guys drafted in the NBA in the 2000s. Both within the last two years. And what's great is that we're probably going to see a couple more come out of our current roster. A pipeline to the NBA is a major selling point in recruiting. Let's continue to pump that pipeline!

  2. I don't mean to start a rumor, but this morning Robin Washut talked about how the 2022 recruiting class will shake out. Said the only 2022 recruits we're after now are Traudt and Green. Mentioned transfers (as always) and the possibility of a 2023 recruit reclassifying and becoming part of the 2022 class. That would be a strange thing to throw out there if he didn't know something was up. I had wondered if Simeon reclassifying was a possibility - CJ had Ivy League offers out of high school. I'm guessing Simeon's academics are in order. Not sure who else it would be? Yalden or Clemmons? I think Yalden is at his 3rd high school in 3 years now, so that would surprise me. Imagine the Husker hoops hype train next offseason if Simeon and Traudt were on board. Simeon would be the best Nebraska basketball recruit in history. I've said this before, but his sophomore film is better than any Husker recruit I've seen. He's college ready right now.

New pitch. You don't even have to be good enough to start here and you can go to the league.

  5. I have a friend of a friend that was arrested and jailed with a big enough bond that he couldn't post bail. Ultimately was found innocent. He was a foster parent, and a few of his former foster kids thought they could blackmail him for money by making up abuse allegations. Eventually the truth came out, but not before his life was ruined and he spent time behind bars for a crime he didn't commit. Not saying Rosenthal is innocent. Not saying he's guilty, either. But I try to not pass judgement based on an arrest warrant, especially when that warrant is potentially based on verbal rather than physical evidence.

Don't worry, Banton gave 0 flux about this thread.

  7. This is in regards to Brian Rosenthal being arrested. It was discussed in the SEC thread. Gut wrenching to see someone who has been in our lives a long time devolve like this.

  8. Congratulations to Banton. Has to be a nice feather for Coach Hoiberg and Coach Matt to take to future recruits…

Y'all are spending time in the wrong parts of Utah. Hit me up next time you're passing through. I'll show you the non-crappy areas. Also, I find it very bizarre how much Utah comes up as a point of conversation in these message boards. Have we moved on from the land of kudzu to the land of of arches and slot canyons?

  10. If you ever do find yourself in Flux, just remember that if you drive south for 3 hours you can find yourself in Beaver. In the early 1990s there was a sign on a convenience store in Beaver, Utah that read: "SNACKS - VIDEOS - TAXIDERMY". I didn't take a chance on any of the snacks, just in case they were byproducts of the taxidermy.

  12. Never in any sport ever. I don't follow college soccer, but even if I did I wouldn't cheer for Creighton. I actually had a buddy that played keeper for them. He was really good (conference defensive POTY, third-team All-American, drafted by the LA Galaxy during the David Beckham years, and played professionally in Europe) and I still didn't cheer for the Bluejays!

I was pretty sure Delano would get drafted ahead of college POY Luka Garza.

Glad he’ll be in Toronto and can finally get out of flux. That place has nothing going for it.

Spent some time in Utah this past November. I don't have a death wish, so Angel's Landing isn't for me, but I'd do The Narrows again.

I loved Bluff. Beautiful spot, great restaurant, awesome rafting, dry-ass hiking. On edit: I really loved visiting Utah during my 23 years in Colorado. I found it to be a lot like what Colorado used to be before all the Texans and Oklahomans showed up.

  20. Agree, let us see how this plays out. before making judgement. having a family member stealing money ( gambling) from their employer. it an eye opening experience. they spent time in jail and paid restitution, now have been clean 18 yrs. I have learned not to judge other people until the facts come out. because we don't know what happened.

  23. IF Florida State and Clemson go to the SEC, then that opens up the ACC for poaching (and should alter Notre Dame's plans for the future). I think the BIG should go for a 24 team super conference. My choices would be: WEST MIDWEST MIDEAST EAST UCLA Nebraska Indiana Ohio State USC Kansas Notre Dame Penn State Oregon Iowa Illinois Rutgers Washington Minnesota Purdue Maryland Stanford Wisconsin Michigan North Carolina Colorado Northwestern Michigan State Duke Again, IF Clemson and Florida State leave the ACC, then the BIG 10 Conference should make an aggressive move to form the next super conference. We would go coast-to-coast and capture all of the west coast audience with six PAC schools. Notre Dame would realize their best prospects now lie with the new BIG 10. North Carolina and Duke give us more of the east coast audience -- and GREAT basketball. This new conference would keep us close to the SEC in terms of a football conference (its the best we could do). This new conference would EASILY be the best basketball conference in the country. I would think our conference could sign a significant TV basketball deal that would generate a lot of money. If the BIG can position itself to be close to the SEC in football and the DOMINATE conference in basketball, I would take it.

Sadly it's happening to too much lately. Have an acquaintance that was arrested in Omaha for the same thing in June...10 million dollar bond (not enough IMO). Some people are so f'd up it's just sickening.

  31. Been a while since I've been on this thread. I am also a SKC fan, so its cool to see these two mix. I'll be at the September 11th game against Chicago and my first mls experience. Excited to see the team in-person..

  35. I like the optimism, but you might benefit from an exercise - pick a random Power 5 team and take a deep dive into their roster and preview their upcoming season. I think that would temper your expectations. Every team has talent and experience. Dozens of rosters are packed full of 4 star recruits. And almost every team has been far better than Nebraska the past two years. I’m as excited as anyone about this team, but I’d also be pretty thrilled with a .500 or better season.

  36. I still think Strickland was underrated. He played in a tournament against Jason Kidd and shut him down. Jason might have been the #1 recruit that year; top 10 for sure. Being a dominant on ball defender isn’t as sexy as a flashy passer or scorer, though.

    Summer Notes

Coach Hoiberg was on Sports Nightly tonight - I was in the car, so going from memory: Guys have about one more week of summer workouts before they send them home for a couple of weeks before school starts First player he brought up (unsolicited) was Breidenbach (somewhat surprisingly) - since being cleared after the injury, he's been very impressive Then he talked about B McGowens - says he just takes over some of the workouts/scrimmages - hit 4 or 5 3s in a row today in practice Then brought up T McGowens and how he's showing great leadership and he's focused on finding the hot hand, like with Bryce in practice today Finally mentioned Verge and how great he's been since arriving - he's a huge addition with losing Banton so late to the draft When asked about Tominaga at the Olympics, he said how great it's been to see him play so well against much older and more seasoned players - and how they're excited to get him on campus and in their offense - because teams will have to guard him all over the floor, it's really going to open things up for everyone else, and they envision a big role for him There will be media availability for players tomorrow - some of the players who didn't speak last week should be available this time Also caught Buzzy on 93.7 earlier today - he also brought up Breidenbach, talked about how impressive he's been and how hard he's working - and that he will play some 4 and some 5 this season - you can just hear it in the coaches' voices how much they like him - my guess is they knew he was good when they recruited him, but now that he's healthy and they can see him up close, it feels like they're getting far more than they expected.

  39. As Banton received reactions from on-site people at the NBA process (from "This is a stretch," to "Hey, he's pretty good," to ""Wow, he has a chance"), it seemed like same song, second verse from when Roby went through that process--with the same stay-in decision. Would have loved for him to come back . . . but moving another one into the League can't hurt Hoiberg & Co. By the way, Washut is suggesting that a replacement is in the works--they've apparently seen this coming for a while.
