  4. I like the optimism, but you might benefit from an exercise - pick a random Power 5 team and take a deep dive into their roster and preview their upcoming season. I think that would temper your expectations. Every team has talent and experience. Dozens of rosters are packed full of 4 star recruits. And almost every team has been far better than Nebraska the past two years. I’m as excited as anyone about this team, but I’d also be pretty thrilled with a .500 or better season.

  5. I'm sticking with "NIT or bust" with the expectation that we're at least at bubble team. So NCAA wouldn't be a shock, but I can't call it an expectation. Some sobering facts: We return 52.6% of minutes (according to T-Rank), which is just 8th in BIG. So we're returning fewer than average minutes from a bad team. There's no way to sugar coat a 3-16 conference record. And say what you want about Teddy, he and Delano are big losses. While we're much more talented overall heading into the season, we still are going to need time to put the pieces together. We're just a fairly experience

  7. I still think Strickland was underrated. He played in a tournament against Jason Kidd and shut him down. Jason might have been the #1 recruit that year; top 10 for sure. Being a dominant on ball defender isn’t as sexy as a flashy passer or scorer, though.

I've been downing the Kool-Aid. Don't sleep on Nebraska this year. This team could be a sleeping giant.

  10. Right, wrong or indifferent, ESPN is in the business to make money. They have the TV rights to the SEC so of course they wanted this to happen. Not sure they have broken any laws (or at least the we know about). Just like Fox Sports owns TV rights to other conferences. The bigger issue for me is that this doesn't even look like college sports anymore. Money and greed can just ruin everything. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. What made college sports great was the traditions, rivalry games, playing other schools in your region of the country where you could just

  21. The Auburn game will be an awesome litmus test for us. Their starting lineup will be impressive. G - Wendell Green. Stud point guard transfer. Was probably co-number 1 on our transfer board for pg along with Tyson Walker. G - KD Johnson. Averaged 13.5 ppg last year as a true freshman at Georgia. G - Allen Flanigan. 14 ppg, 6 rpg, 3 apg last year. Big bodied guard, efficient all-around player. Projected first round pick in next years NBA draft. F - Jabari Smith. 5-star, projected top 5 pick in next years NBA draft. This years Evan Mobley, but is also a three level scorer with NBA r

  24. That was actually one of the games I thought about the longest. Most of the pedigree SEC teams have rivalries with the other big name teams, and they can't all play each other every year (unless you make pods that are super uneven from a competitive balance perspective). I de-prioritized the Tennessee/Florida game because: 1. From an outsider's perspective, it doesn't feel like a big-time rivalry anymore like it did in the Fulmer/Spurrier days. UF going 15-1 in the series since 2005 is probably the biggest reason, but I think the fact that the game is always played early in the

  26. ESPN is the tail wagging the dog. They have too much influence. If my streaming subscription rates go up in the future to accommodate high contracts for a reconfigured SEC league, I'd drop it instantly and just listen on the radio. Watch Nebraska reruns later. They need a la carte. I'd don't care about other leagues.

Isn't that tampering or something? I did a search and maybe it's this..... Tortious interference.... You can be liable if you help someone breach a contract. Can someone with a legal background comment?

  30. Boy, it'd be up there with I think '91. You had Woolridge who was a top 25 per Street and Smith. Boone and Strickland were both top 70, IIRC. Then you had Amos Gregory who, though it turned out he was a little porcine and deconditioned, was still a juco all-American center/power forward, back when jucos were still VERY fertile recruiting grounds. But that's the only class that had the numbers and quality to give this one a run. Otherwise, maybe the year we snagged Ty Lue and Venson Hamilton together.

  33. There'll be a vote for show, but it's already a done deal. These steps wouldn't be happening if there hadn't already been complete and total confirming approval from the SEC and the schools involved. You don't take this kind of leap without knowing that the landing spot is ready and available and a sure thing. No one in this situation would allow themselves to be left in a position of being hung out to dry.

Coach Hoiberg was on Sports Nightly tonight - I was in the car, so going from memory: Guys have about one more week of summer workouts before they send them home for a couple of weeks before school starts First player he brought up (unsolicited) was Breidenbach (somewhat surprisingly) - since being cleared after the injury, he's been very impressive Then he talked about B McGowens - says he just takes over some of the workouts/scrimmages - hit 4 or 5 3s in a row today in practice Then brought up T McGowens and how he's showing great leadership and he's focused on
