  2. Lloyd's Dad was on 93.7 today with DP and Stephens and apparently Lloyd's dad and DP go way back. The interview was a good listen. Anyways, the Dad sounded like he was a good ball player back in the day as he played ABA ball. The family sounds well grounded and they hit it off very well with Fred during the visit. Lloyd referenced Lincoln as being a great place to not get distracted from school and ball and he raved about the facilities and Fred's ability to get players to the next level. After the call, DP referenced the top 8 but said the one thing he knew for sure is that Nebraska was on the "short, short, short" list...which sounds promising.

  3. Updated musings: Having Derrick for a full season matters. Having an important reserve player not fall ill to Covid for a month during a crucial time in his development matters. Throwing in some offensive firepower like CJ and Bryce matters. Hopefully Lat is more than just a year better. I think he will be. As everyone probably is aware, I was big on Dalano and disappointed not to have him back. We might be able to make up some of his assist numbers, but his rebounding will leave a hole in the lineup that might be more of a challenge to overcome. Lat's a good rebounder but he spends a lot of time on the perimeter. So, while I hope for big improvement from him, he's probably not going to fill that particular void. So it's good news that Eduardo is up to 240#. I feel like we will field a team of better shooters than a year ago. Now that Dalano is gone, we don't return a single player who had more than 1 attempt who was worse than 33.3% from 3-point range last year. Not a single one. Everyone we bring back with more than 1 attempt was at least 33.3% from three. That alone should push us into the top 5-6 in the league in 3-point accuracy. To add to that, I think we bring in at least 4 guys who each should be mid-30s or better. I feel like we have to make a move this year. We might only get Bryce for 1 season. We need to take full advantage. I think we have some elements, but it'll be interesting to see if we can put it all together.

  4. Assuming @hhcmatt is right about starters ... Trey Bryce CJ Lat Derrick That leaves a bench consisting of ... Alonzo Kobe/Keisei Keon Wilhelm Eduardo I mean, you could swap CJ and Keon if you want. Either group would seem able to make it rain buckets.

When you add in the Nebrasketball shooting curse (75% of "normal" output once you step foot in a Nebraska basketball uniform), he still has 15.2 PPG. I'll take it.

My guess is some of the feedback he got was they want to see more from him as a distributor. A lot of his comments were team centric about coming to Nebraska. That leads me to believe that he wants to improve on the things they want to see from him in order to become a drafted player.

I'm assuming that our starting PG is Trey McGowens, at least to start the season.

He probably thinks he can make it up on NIL at DONU and still go to frat parties.

  14. According to Washut, the Charlotte Hornets offered Verge a two-way contract after his workout with them earlier this week. He turned it down. That’s a pretty big deal.

Considering the alternative was for Nebraska to have an empty spot left from Banton deciding to keep his name in the NBA Draft… I don’t understand how anyone could think this is anything other than a great thing for the Huskers to get a player or this caliber with legitimate success at a Power6 conference school and that was getting looks from NBA teams before deciding to come back to play another season in college. He’s a grad transfer, so he has one season of eligibility, so he literally fills Banton’s empty spot for ‘21-‘22, and will leave that spot open again for the 2022 recruiting class. It’s a win-win.
