Jimmy had a great post, I liked everything about it. Mwm89 and huskerbill 85 had really good likes, and millerhusker was awesome with the upvote.4 points -

Different group. I'd expect it to happen, generally speaking. (There are a lot of freshmen.)3 points

Caught a couple of the recruiting guys on the radio last week - they were talking football, but brought up this exact topic. They laughed and said it's never happened. They usually get the true story off the record from the coaches later. They said they interviewed one kid who NU coaches kicked out of the official visit because of something the kid shouldn't have done, and the kid still tells all the recruiting services how great the visit went. Another time the mom was such a pain in the ass that the coaches pulled the kid's scholarship offer when they were leaving. Kid reported an amazing visit. So to answer your question, no.3 points

Has a high school recruit ever said anything negative about an official visit? Just wondering. It would be refreshing if someone would someday say something like the "the staff were smarmy and the team returning for next year seemed like a bunch of egotistical jerks."3 points

(Just to elaborate a little on Whoops' post in the media thread. ) https://huskers.com/podcasts/huskers-radio-network-podcast-e3-kate-cain/504 Great Interview (18 min) with Kate Cain (always well-spoken) on the Huskers Radio Network Podcast (w/Jessica Coody, super interviewer) Fun Listen, Fast-paced, concise, succinct, and informative: > Kate's in Lincoln for the summer, working on classes (halfway through MBA program) and using athletic facilities, > She expects to sign a contract to play overseas this year. > Two week training camp with the Las Vegas Aces was a great learning experience; Learning about WBB at the next level, getting to play with the 'best of the best, contacts, good preparation for getting ready to play overseas. > Talks about her time at Nebraska, how she got here, and what a positive experience it has been; the place, the fans, and the folks who have all been so supportive, like family. > Talks defense, and Shot-blocking (of course). Talks how her offensive skills improved, particularly in her Jr & Sr seasons, and how her Huskers experience has been good preparation for a pro career. > Huskers have the best fans in the country and a hearty thanks for all their support for her personally and for the team. > Thinks this will be an interesting year for the WBB team. Everyone (except her) is coming back plus the incoming class. There is so much talent she could see some big things this year.2 points

Since this thread has been somewhat sidetracked, allowing a brief sojourn into nostalgia, I shall contribute a few stream of consciousness thoughts. I remember when Bill Jackman was one of Coach K.'s prized recruits. I think he might have even made a trip to Nebraska to see him play in high school. I remember seeing Oscar Robertson, Gary Williams and Jumping Joe Caldwell play at Allen Fieldhouse as undergrads. I remember seeing Michael Jordan play for the Bulls at BDSC. I remember seeing Connie Hawkins dunk for the Suns in Phoenix. I remember seeing George Gervin and Dr. J battle each other in the ABA in San Antonio. I remember seeing Nate Archibald play as an undergraduate in El Paso. I remember seeing Kevin McHale play at BDSC for the Gophers and later from courtside seats on the parquet at the old Boston Garden. Ah, the wonders I've seen. Hopefully I'll be able to see the McGowens brothers lead NU to the promised land.2 points

And coach said Ruby went back to Australia for a visit after finishing last semester but that besides being very costly with all the covid protocols it takes awhile to get back to the USA. That was two weeks ago that she said that at the Big Red Blitz in David City.1 point

Handy Johnson reacted to Nighthawk for a topic
Only if we go there. I don't see Duke or North Carolina coming here in the near future. Nebraska doesn't have the long history of winning seasons and they are not going to come to Lincoln if there is any chance of them losing1 point -

Think of the Headline possibilities when Omaha plays for the Huskers. They will endlessly rival NU’s victory over UMKC & the headline was: “Kangaroos can’t stop Hoppen”...1 point -

Kenpom has us 40th. Bart Torvik has us 31st. According to Kenpom, our opponents offense strength of schedule was 4th in the country. That is, only three teams in the country played against better offenses throughout the year than Nebraska did. For tempo, we were 35th and 31st respectively, so more points per game given up will naturally occur. Points per game isn’t necessarily a metric useful for determining how efficient, or how good, a defense is.1 point -

Think we're going to miss his size on defense. He was an above average rebounder and a decent rim protector.1 point -

Good for him, but that hurts. I know, I know, we've got a lot of talent coming in, but it would be nice to start off a year with some returning experience. The Torvik predicto-meter drops from 58 to 77 with him gone. https://barttorvik.com/rostercast.php?run=1&team=Nebraska&player=-Dalano%20Banton%3BNebraska0 points
