  1. Jimmy I got you man - I apologize if I’m misconstruing anything you’re saying. I know you’re a solid dude. My issue with your statement, and others who’ve made similar, is every time any institution goes, “we’d really like to explore and possible go with a minority candidate here,” everyone immediately goes into, “well I hope they’re just hiring the most qualified person regardless of a, b, c.” My thing is, “of course they’re qualified!” I strongly dislike the assumption that by going with a minority candidate that said institution was somehow taking a chance on a lesser qualified candidate to be woke, or virtue signal (or whatever). I’m not trying to put words in your mouth, but personally I believe that is what is being implied when people say that. I strongly believe we need more minority representation within administration, leadership, and power roles. I feel it is better for our country and all of our people in the long run. And especially at a place, like an athletics department, where so many of the student athletes are African Americans. Just my opinion.

    Banton's a Raptor

Here is a Sports Illustrated report: Dalano Banton, G/F, Nebraska Height: 6' 9" | Weight: 195 | Age: 21 | Sophomore While Banton didn’t receive enough votes for the combine, he proved himself to be one of the most intriguing prospects at G League Elite Camp, only after being added to the event as a late injury replacement for Dejon Jarreau. Banton measured at 6' 9" in shoes with a 6' 10.25" wingspan and 9' 0" standing reach and led the G League camp in rebounds and assists, legitimizing his potential as a jumbo-sized playmaker and drawing second-round interest from teams. I highlighted Banton as a sleeper before the combine, with the primary caveat being whether he’ll shoot. That remains a real question, but he did shoot well at his pro day workout, and if teams can talk themselves into the workability of the jumper, there’s a fascinating pathway for him to develop into a Shaun Livingston–esque role player. Banton is unselfish almost to a fault, but is an exceptional ball-screen playmaker who can access passing angles other guards can’t due to his size and vision. He’s built a case to be drafted after coming in off the radar, and has become more than just a curiosity for some scouts.

  3. He also just finished his sophomore year of high school and probably hasn’t been evaluated much yet. Kid can flat out shoot it. He’ll end up with plenty of offers, so it’s good to get in on him early. Roby wouldn’t have been a Husker if we hadn’t been one of his first major offers and had him committed early on.

    Moos is Out?

Ronnie Green on what he's looking for https://starherald.com/sports/huskers/unl-chancellor-ronnie-green-discusses-husker-a-d-search-we-need-the-right-leader/article_f3733ed9-44e2-5573-856c-97b4b5b782fe.html There is no video in this link but randomly I think that Green's voice sounds like Rev. Lovejoy from the SImpsons.

    Moos is Out?

We're hiring the head of athletics. Anyone we interview or hire is going to be competent and will likely have a longstanding career in college athletics as either a coach and/or an administrator. Just because of how we're wired one could almost bank on this being a former football player or coach. Ronnie Green hired Moos. He's going to hire the next AD. Was there something in that previous hiring process that somehow would prompt you to question that we wouldn't hire the best or at the very least a capable candidate?

    Moos is Out?

Thanks, Norm. To make this even less complicated, I will restate my original comment. It simply meant that I wanted the new AD to be someone capable of managing the athletic department in a competent manner which will allow NU to excel in all athletic and academic endeavors. I do not care about that individual's sexual orientation, race, color, political views, religion, or personality as long as he or she can do the job. I simply think using any of these criteria to choose the candidate, as well as his or her degree of "woke-ness" (whatever that is), should be irrelevant. Capiche?

  8. on sports nightly this evening (tuesday).... some highlights: been around a number of coaching staffs........loves this staff. said many thought coach williams should have received big ten coach of the year for the way last season was handled. of course, didn't get it, but, he stated she got a number of votes. "salivating" over Markowski...she can score...awesome shape thinks Kendall Moriarity could be the "diamond in the rough" will have a deep bench which he states is needed in the Big Ten said they could finish 5th or 6th in Big Ten and, yet could be a sweet 16 team. (whew, hope he's right on that one) Greg and Matt agreed...huskers could be really good. Mentioned teams will be chasing Maryland, Indiana, and Iowa. excited for Jazz Shelley from Oregon of course......high on Kendall Coley side note: i'll just add...this is all from watching about 1 1/2 hrs of practice Matt is all for NIL......however, expect a bumpy road for a couple of years. example he gave is what is going to happen when the "backup" is playing better than the starter---and, yet, not getting any endorsements?

  11. It can only help our program having another player drafted. The more he has played and worked out, the more heads he has turned. I was hard on him last year for his play... rightfully so I think... so kudos to him for taking advantage of the moment.

  12. This is shaping up to be quite a tough Non-Con. Looking at the other three matchups, we might be the headliner on Dec 11. Overall that puts us facing NCST, Auburn, Creighton, and KSU before Christmas. Goodness sakes.

I was thinking more Leslie Jordan, the actor who played Earl "Brother Boy" Ingram in "Sordid Lives."

  15. I agree we have enough talent we should not hover around .500 again. I can see this freshman class put up numbers similar to Sam's freshman year. Now if we can keep them here and happy. Plus is we are going to have to improve and be consistently in the mix for an upper B1G finish if we are going to keep Prince in Nebraska.

He was the AD in addition to the basketball coach at Arkansas-Fort Smith from 1998-2003 so he has prior experience.

  21. I know many can’t stand watching the NBA, but Ty Lue is showing he can coach and is more than just Lebron’s friend. He’s been making some great adjustments and is now 10-2 in elimination games in the playoffs, which ranks him 1st percentage wise…

  22. I knew that one was coming as I was typing in my initial thoughts. Growing up in the sticks allowed AM radio from all over to filter in. Listened to lots of Spurs/Nuggets games as kid. 130-140 point games were not uncommon. The Ice Man & David “Skywalker” Thompson...!

What if representation, or “wokeness” as you refer, is what the student athletes who actually put in the work and play the games are begging for?

    Moos is Out?

He always struck me as overmatched & out of his element (regardless if he owned a ranch). The way he handled Tim Miles told me all I needed to know about him. Frost/Hoiberg/Bolt with their Nebraska ties would’ve come here regardless of the AD. I for one am hoping Hank Bounds gets the nod, not Trev Alberts & not someone who’s supposedly “on the come”...
