Can someone remind me of the deets about that time Fred Hoiberg's ISU hoops team had to sleep in a hotel lobby because the ISU AD at the time (Jamie Pollard) went all chintzy on him and wouldn't spring for an extra night stay? Was that at, like, the Big 12 tourney? And the extra night was needed because Fred's team won? Something like that. But my memory on it is hazy. I just suspect that not all of our current head coaches would be on board with hiring Pollard to replace Moos.2 points -

You might be right. However, do you really think if Shawn Eichorst had been given carte blanche instead of being fired he would he have landed any of these guys? SE is hiring Herb Sendek or some other 60 year old who once made a Sweet 16 because he doesn't think he can get the money to hire Hoiberg. Spending money, right or wrong, hasn't ever been an obstacle for Moos.2 points -

But that was 100% on Eichorst failing to extend Miles in 2017 when he really needed to either do that, or move on. It was a chicken**** move and ultimately ended up leaving Miles hanging out to dry. Then 2018 happened and the whole situation was just compounded. I'm bitter about it, but much less so than I would be if we hadn't replaced Tim with Fred.2 points -

So ridiculous. Leave it to the NCAA to continue to botch things. Feel awful for the NCST team. Would like to see all the teams left refuse to play until the NCAA let's NCST play.1 point

The next AD has a big job. Football is the driving focus of the entire program. Improvement there has to be demonstrated or a change, however unpopular, may be necessary. All coaches have to feel some tension when a new AD comes on board.1 point -

No worries. I don't think Moos "gave" him another year so much as he used him as a placeholder while he got the football side in order. Thats my take anyway.1 point -

You’ll have to show me where all these pissed off miles fans are because other than people wishing him good luck at his new job he hasn’t been mentioned on this board as people wanting him back and hoiberg gone. And I don’t see how giving your coach one last season with his guys to show something and said coach underachieves and is canned is a crappy way of going about it. It would have been far more crappy if he came in and fired him right away and guys transferred and we had some random coach instead of the guy everyone wanted. That part makes zero sense to me, I’m sorry. He handled it as professionally as any other AD would have and I don’t think many would have even given miles the cushion that he got.1 point -

I'd take Bill Moos over Shawn Eichorst any day. If they promote Matt Davison into the job, I might be done though.1 point -

I knew you were a public university grad. You're way too good with your punctuation to be a CUer. Now, if you really want to impress, your next post will include proper use of a semicolon.1 point

Creighton Basketball - what a bunch of cheaters

Ok, LSU and Will Wade. North Carolina. Pick any number of examples. I just threw out Kansas because they are "accused" of recruiting violations and have been in the news recently. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/it-may-not-have-been-intentional-but-kansas-giving-bill-self-a-lifetime-contract-sends-a-message-to-ncaa/. Maybe it's semantics, but Kansas has been charged with five Level I violations. There has been no ruling or determination yet. So you are correct, nothing proven; the same way there is nothing proven that Creighton offered Bowen's dad any money. That's not stopping others here from treating it as fact. I know reading comprehension is hard for some, or perhaps my ability to articulate my thoughts is awful, but I didn't say CU was "innocent." The main thrust of my statement was that while they are being punished, the violation in question was sort of comical and and not "cheating," per se. If you read the topic of this thread, it was accusing Creighton of cheating. However, I concede that my POV is somewhat narrow - I'm defining cheating as competitive advantage, you are defining it as violation of a written rule or bylaw. Not worth unpacking whether or not the NCAA's rules are all logical. The same way that it was comical how the Nebraska football team was in violation of NCAA rules for providing impermissible benefits relating to textbooks several years ago. Both "violations," and "cheating," if judging by the letter of the law but both insignificant in that there is no athletic impact or advantage. The second point I was trying to make was referenced above. Many people are conflating the Preston Murphy situation with the Brian Bowen situation. The former is what CU is being punished for, not the latter. I get the rivalry/hatred aspect of this on a NU message board. I guessed I'm triggered by seeing similar uninformed takes on the cesspool that is Twitter. Nebraska fans are insinuating that Creighton is guilty of recruiting violations in regards to Brian Bowen. Can you prove that? You cannot and to this point the NCAA has not or else they would. Thank you very much for the advice as to which lane to pick though. I'll pick the lane in which I stay consistent in my outrage.1 point -

Boy that all is a HUGE disincentive to going out and dangling $$$ in front of a bunch of 4-star prospects. They won't ever try that again. Wait, what's that? Two 4-stars decommited from other programs and switched to Creighton in the last month? Oh.1 point
