  2. There is no doubt that Gonzaga will be a top seed in next year’s tournament—none whatsoever: they are a great team, with lots of great players, and play in a pretend conference. They would have to under-perform by dramatic proportions for any other result. But everyone still has to play the games—and Gonzaga nearly got bounced by a play-in team this tournament and got crushed by Baylor.

  3. "I'm living proof now that if you work hard and do the right things, God will bless you" Perhaps he has a future as a writer, but apparently not as a theologian. In seriousness, that was indeed a good read and Derrick is an even easier player to root for now. Love his attitude and I'm very glad that he's one of our guys.

  4. Drew Timme will be the preseason national player of the year. Chet Holmgren will be the preseason national freshman of the year. Andrew Nembhard would've been a late first or early second round pick had he entered the draft this year. They'll still have 4-6 NBA guys on next year's roster. Mark Few has made it to the Sweet 16 in the last 6 tournaments in a row, many times with a less talented roster. Completely different situation than Butler and Texas Tech. Of course anything can happen in March, but there's no doubt they'll be a Sweet 16 caliber team again.

  6. You're assuming Gonzaga is going to be just as good moving forward? Last year is over, new players, rosters etc. Ask Butler or Texas Tech how hard it is to sustain excellence. We're trending upward, and how this season unfolds is anybody's guess...

  8. https://mgoblue.com/news/2021/5/7/womens-basketball-moore-added-to-michigan-staff-as-assistant-coach-recruiting-coordinator.aspx "Carrie is a star in the business and will help us continue to elevate Michigan women's basketball," Barnes Arico said. "She is one of the best players to come through the state, helping Detroit Country Day to two state titles and leading the nation in scoring as a senior at Western Michigan. Carrie has shown that she can both recruit the best in the country and develop players to be successful at the highest level. I am so excited to bring Carrie back home to Michigan." https://mgoblue.com/news/2021/5/10/nainima-joins-wolverines-as-womens-basketball-assistant-coach.aspx "Val is one of the best developers of talent at the point guard position," Barnes Arico said. "I think a lot of that can be attributed to learning from someone like Dawn Staley, as well as her extensive international experience. She is an extremely hard-working and loyal individual who has a great ability to build relationships with players, recruits and within the community. I am excited to have her energy and enthusiasm in our program."

USC may be on their way up...hired Cleveland Cavaliers Lindsay Gottlieb as head coach. she was head coach at Cal before moving on to the Cavaliers. Cal was a perennial power while she was there. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/31421960/sources-lindsay-gottlieb-returning-women-college-basketball-hired-usc-head-coach-stint-cleveland-cavaliers-assistant

  10. Still painful to recall Roburt's 35 point performance occurred for Memphis in the Big Dance, and not for NU...

  11. It was an extra inning game in which NU threw out a runner trying to score ! The final score at MSU was 9-6 in 12 innings instead of today's 7-6 in 13 inn. at RU.

  12. I was just going to post that. Same score too if I remember correctly. We've been like a cat w/ 9 lives on a few occasions. I tend to think a good team makes some of its own luck. Not all the time, of course.
