  1. Since returning from his one game suspension, Teddy has been a completely different and vastly improved player. Kudos to the coaching staff for sending the message and bigger props to Teddy for constructively receiving that message. We have seen other players take their imaginary bag of arrows and go home.

  2. Seriously, with the names? At this point of the season, multiple references on this thread alone to "Blanton", and now "Ivan ". Your way of trolling?

  3. Hoiberg made a great decision to bench Allen for that one game. Teddy has been playing great since that game and seems to be playing much better as a team player since then.

  5. That was just a fun basketball game! Teddy got all the buckets! Andre continues to show flashes of his potential. Trey hit some big shots, but finally got caught with his hand in the cookie jar on that attempt at drawing that foul. Walker does so many little things. Thor hit some big shots coming back from that 10 point deficit. Webster's giving some big minutes, too. but... Nebraskebtall happened. Penn St. played harder and smarter at some key stretches. NU had some sloppy, lazy turnovers at back breaking moments. Giving fouls at the wrong time. and then... They kept battling. I liked that they didn't try to force a 3 at the end but couldn't quite get the final shot to fall... Man, that would have been fun to win. Shame to waste that effort from Teddy.

    Why the hate

These are the same people that would go up to him to try to get a photo with him after the game if we had a winning record in the Big Ten. * Correction...these people don't even attend the games; they get their hoops news from social media, look at our record, complain, then move on to something else.

  7. Our streak continues. Though I think it was a real McA hole move not to include him. Big SNUB, and in my opinion, he makes it if he had signed for a blue blood.

  8. Really? Postseason in 7 of 9 years? 4 NCAA Tournaments, wins in 3 of them and they were poised for a decent seed last year. He's made it work at a pretty high level for quite a long time now. Garza maybe takes it to another level, but they were winning pre-Garza, too.

  10. Being that all of Fort's shot were from beyond the arc, I would guess 55 or so. How many career points would he have had, if he had the arc and played varsity his freshman year?

  12. Aren't there 10 players per 1st and 2nd team? Last year there was so think they would be this year as well unless the B1G changed. https://bigten.org/news/2020/3/2/big-ten-womens-basketball-honors-announced-on-btn.aspx

  13. If nothing else, that was an entertaining game to watch and a glimpse of what the Hoiberg offense is supposed to look like when shots are going in. I did unfortunately lie to my kid last night. When Teddy had 20 points ten minutes into the game, he pronounced that Teddy was going to go for 40. I told him that if he did that, there's no way Nebraska loses. He reminded me of that fact after that game and I told him I could have swore I said 45 points. Ok, I lied to him twice

  15. I gotta be honest - that move by Trey is the same type of bulls*** someone like Grant Gibbs would pull. I don’t care if he is on my favorite team, I hate it.

  17. From the New York Times, Feb. 9, 2021. A short excerpt: I don’t remember when I first learned about semicolons, nor do I have a mental list of remarkable semicolons in literature. I don’t want to have to treasure them, though the typical advice for writers of all levels is to use them sparingly, as if there’s a limited supply. This only breeds fear, which in turn breeds stigma: Semicolons are ugly, pretentious and unnecessary; they immaturely try to have it both ways. There are so many things to fear in life, but punctuation is not one of them. That semicolons, unlike most other punctuation marks, are fully optional and relatively unusual lends them power; when you use one, you are doing something purposefully, by choice, at a time when motivations are vague and intentions often denied. And there are very few opportunities in life to have it both ways; semicolons are the rare instance in which you can; there is absolutely no downside.

  21. I'm pretty sure Andre Almeida was a McDonald's All-American. And a KFC All-American. And an Arby's All-American. And a Wendy's All-American. And I have no doubt, that if such a thing existed, Thor would have been a McDonald's All-Icelander.

    Schedule

Regarding BTN+ subscription; I select the single school, $9.95 a month option. As soon as basketball ends, I'll probably cancel until next season. No hassle at all signing up or cancelling. All done on-line, in seconds. You can take a look at the Nebraska schedule for the rest of the month @ btnplus.com .

  36. Sure. Maybe that helps adjust our expectations for how long this thing should take to build. As for the bigs, I think Walker fits that bill. Andre will, too, I expect. Breidenbach is supposed to be that, too. And then that JUCO that just committed. We're getting there on that end.

  37. Make sure you quote and reference me in your next article. Thanks. Send payment to......... jk jk Iowa works because it revolves around a generational talent, behemoth. One could argue a little bit of "chicken and the egg" with Creighton. Creighton, now, could definitely be in our top 5 for sure. But do they develop this way if they have to go through the same process we do (i.e., trying to play this style before you're good)?

  39. This is some company for Teddy UNL Postgame Notes *-Teddy Allen finished with a career-high 41 points, the second-highest single-game total in school history and just the fifth 40-point game ever at Nebraska. His 41 points ties the school record for most points in a home game (41 by Aleks Maric) and breaks the PBA record (35 by three players). The top five single-game totals are below. No. Name, Opponent Date Points 1. Eric Piatkowski vs. Oklahoma (3/11/94) 42 2. Aleks Maric Kansas State (2/13/07) 41 Teddy Allen, Penn State (2/23/21) 41 3. Rich King Northern Illinois (2/18/91) 40 Jerry Fort Missouri (2/22/75) 40 *-Allen finished with 41 points, eight rebounds and six assists, setting career highs in points (41), field goals (16), 3-pointers (six) and assists (six). He is just the fourth power conference player in the last decade to have at least 40 points, eight rebounds and six assists in a game per CBB Reference. Power Conference Players Since 2011 with 40+ points, 8+ rebounds and 6+ assists in a game (per CBB Reference) Buddy Hield, Oklahoma (at Kansas, 1/4/2016) Ben Simmons, LSU (vs. North Florida, 12/2/2015 Trae Young, Oklahoma (vs. TCU, 1/13/2018) Teddy Allen, Nebraska (vs. Penn State, 2/23/2021) *-Allen also tied school marks for field goals in a game, matching the school mark by Marvin Stewart against Nevada on Dec. 14, 1970. Both players went 16-of-24 from the field. *-Allen’s 41 points was the second 40-point game in the Big Ten this season (Luka Garza, Iowa vs. Southern, 11/27/20) *-Allen’s 41 points and 16 field goals were the most ever allowed by Penn State to a conference opponent *-Allen’s 28 first-half points is the most by a Husker in a half in school history. The previous record was 27 by James Palmer Jr. against Rutgers at the 2019 Big Ten Tournament *-It marked Allen’s eighth 20-point game of the season and 11th of his career. His previous career high was 26 against Creighton on Dec. 11.

    PENN STATE GAME DAY THREAD

This excerpt is from a Hail Varsity article on January 12, 2021........ (haven't seen a mention since) Trinity Brady, a sophomore guard who started NU’s first two games out on the wing (whose spot Bourne filled once she went down), has missed the last eight games with an ankle injury. She was previously in a boot but shed that in recent weeks. Williams didn’t put a timetable on anything, but intimated that she’s close. “She’s getting closer every day,” Williams said. “We’re hopeful that real shortly she’ll be able to return to the court.” Brady hasn’t played since Dec. 6. In her 48 minutes to start the year, she scored 17 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and got her hands on four steals. She’s a versatile defender Williams can deploy on the wing and lets Bourne play her more natural forward position.
