Ohio State's...laconic...first half helped, no doubt. But Nebraska got Ohio State's full effort in the second half and withstood it. It's a really tough team. Especially Cravens. They've lamented not having a player like her for years. Now, they do, and from Eastern Washington, no less. Her contribution cannot be underestimated. She does precisely what the team had needed for a long time.5 points

After the Creighton game, I was ready to call quits for the season and reinforced by the IU game. Man was I wrong. Happily wearing egg on the face. Difference.....they are playing great TEAM defense right now. GBR!!!!4 points

I wasn't able to watch game...just saw the YouTube replay. The replay makes them look like wonder women And it's appropriate. Seems like the absence of Issie, may have made them pull together and made them give it all they had. Maybe it's weird to think, but they kind of played like Issie does. Unselfishly. Team ball. Cravers his improved so much...like said above she's the on the boards inside element we've missed so much. Porter has settled down and.. slowed down so much, plays much more team ball than when she started here. Has the feel of the game and the pace needed. Truly impressive today4 points -

Have been really happy for Whitney. She came in as a Nebraska kid walk on, and I thought she might just start out by watching a lot of the games. But because of circumstances... injuries, covid..etc.. she was given a chance. Her sheer determination, scrappiness, and hard work has really made me a fan. Her love for the game...a Nebraska game....really shines through. She's a good ball handler, and her 3 is coming around. It might be safe to say...she see a lot of floor time from here on out. Congtrats Whitney :)3 points

I DVR most of the games. I've been known to forget about, or nap through a game. Still, I've never watched a game, more than once. Not deleting this one. Will definitely watch again.3 points

Another game played as a team.. That's how it's supposed to work!! Thank God Amy figured it out finally because the time was dwindling.. Hopefully she can keep improving on it now because everyone does like her as a person3 points -
63-55. I wouldn’t have believed it. Many things went our way but there was some solid play from all the girls, all seven.3 points

imo, whitney has proven she is more than capable playing at this level. she deserves to have the "walk-on" label removed.2 points -
A scholarship opened up when Helms left so with the five recruits coming in next year we will still be OK with giving one to Whitney. Even if Kate as the only senior comes back for a fifth year we would still be OK since the NCAA will increase scholarship limits for one year. I have been a Whitney Brown fan for years but she has already exceeded my expectations. Take a look at conference only stats and you will see see leads the team in the very important assists to turnovers ratio. She is at 2.0 which is excellent. No one on the team is close to that. That included playing against some of the leagues best teams.2 points

I noticed in the OWH, Abby Barmore has written the last couple articles, regarding Husker WBB. I hope she finds her way to this small forum. Sam has contributed in the past. It would be nice to get another "insider" voice.2 points

She is deserving of a scholarship. Wonder when that will happen with all the other players coming in? Unless Cayton(sp) ends up going medical?2 points -
Amen! She also has had a couple of timely steals and disruptions of opponents' attempts at fast breaks. Having had a few games with only 7 players would have been games with only six (yikes!) had WB not come our way as a walk on.2 points

I love how if someone doesn't agree with your thoughts, then you resort to calling them names and swearing at them. What are you, a spoiled 13 year old? Grow up!!!! This is a discussion board. If you don't agree with someone's thoughts then please try to be at least courteous in explaining why you disagree in the future. That said, I want to congratulate the lady huskers and their coach(s) on getting this short handed team playing so well. I'll be honest, I never saw this happening a few weeks ago. Actually I don't think anyone did. I hope they continue to keep it up. Kind of reminds me of Tim Miles last few games when he only had a few players able to play. Also congrats to Cain. Best game of her life here so far. Hopefully this is how she will finish out the rest of her career here.2 points -
Maybe Fred should show the video to the Husker Men about effort and unselfish play.2 points

If I remember correctly, Kate already has at least one degree. Another year? She could graduate with a Masters? Multiple degrees? That would be exceptional.2 points

Pretty sure the men's basketball can, so would expect the women could too. Maybe Kate another year??2 points

Amazing the difference when u have kids that like each other and don’t care who gets the credit. Great job by the ladies executing the game plan. Gotta give the coaches and ladies credit. Girls r playing hard sharing the b-ball and cheering for each other.2 points -
I watched one of her games recently. She hit 8 out of 9 three pointers and had a bunch of other points as well. Taylor McCabe from Fremont is considered by many as the best outside scorer in Nebraska right now but in my mind it won't be too long before Britt Prince has that title. It would be great to see them play against each other in 4 years when McCabe is a junior at Iowa and Prince is a freshman at Nebraska.2 points

It's going to be interesting for the next couple of weeks in WBB in the Big Ten. Our next 5 games are against the 5 teams presently in the bottom of league standings. 2 at home and 3 on the road. Rutgers has postponed 4 games in a row. We could win them all or heaven forbid lose them all especially if we continue to have injuries. Need to heal some up and have no new ones. Take one game at a time and be glad to just play. GBR1 point

Give her a scholarship. (We always seem to have a few extra anyway. ☺) Her enthusiasm, hard work and consistent effort -- not to mention 3 point shooting-- helps build a winning, team-first culture.1 point

That ankle level pass from Kate (I think) after she had stolen/rebounded the ball to Whitney streaking to the basket for a lay-up was a thing of Beauty! She has Basketball Sense!. Sorry, think it's Annika to Whitney(mis-remembering )1 point -
Was not able to watch this game live, but i caught the replay late last night. Truly impressive! KC has had some good games as a Husker But I have never seen play like she did yesterday! A true force in the lane. No one had a bad game and I loved seeing the teamwork. I really doubted that this team would climb the hill that was laid out in front of them, and I am glad to say that I was wrong. But I am saddened at the name calling and the juvie taunt of one commenter and would hate to see this forum deteriorate into personal attacks. Members are not "a-holes" for having expressed an opinion nor does any expression of opinion deserve to be answered by a playground taunt. I hope that member will withdraw his comment and, for the good of the board, will not do it again.1 point

Saturdays' game @ Maryland is also POSTPONED
BjoeHusker reacted to throwback for a topic
I would think they'll try to reschedule as many as possible & be creative, if needed. For example, Purdue is in Lincoln Feb 20 and has a full week off after that - maybe NU & PU play again Feb 21 or Feb 22 in Lincoln. (NU plays Illinois Feb 24.) Maryland has no games between Jan 23 and Jan 30, and NU has no games Jan 24 thru Jan 30, so somewhere in there would be the most likely makeup date. Illinois and Nebraska both have gaps in their schedules the final week of the season (between Feb 28 and Mar 6), so that'd be an ideal time for a makeup. If we end up missing the Minny game, that one might be a little tougher, but we go to Minneapolis Feb 8, so maybe we play them twice on that trip (Feb 6 or 7). Will be tricky to make up the games, but certainly not impossible, as long as they employ a bit of creativity.1 point -
