  1. Thor is not the problem. We play better with him in the game. One of the highest hoops IQ ever. And he doesn’t need his, unlike some of the guys today.

  2. I don't know if they would either, but until they return I would give Stephenson more minutes. He has the body and seems to be crafty around the hoop.

  3. I think we need to be a little more clear about what qualifies as a good shot for certain people.

  4. Key plays to me: 1. Early on Benton makes a steal and tries to dunk it instead of just making a layup. If he makes the simple play we are up 12-4 and rolling. They stick a 3 right after which always happens after a missed layup and the momentum is gone. 2. Hand check on Allen late that allows them to shoot free throws without having to earn a hoop in the clutch and tie the game. 3. Lack of execution on the 2 for 1 play. Lat hesitates on the open three.

  5. Yuv is 18 bro. He’s going to see backup minutes. Sure he isn’t a starter in the Big 10. Give the kid time to develop. We can’t complain about no post depth and then run off our post depth. Tai Webster, Benny Parker, Brandon Ubel are all guys who fans wanted “gone” early and didn’t want them to leave later in their years.

  6. Disappointed-- YES. Do we miss our two bigs that are out -- YES I will call it a sub-par HUSKER coaching performance -- YES Good game planning and adjusting by Nevada -- YES Piss poor shooting by HUSKERS -- YES A bit of panic from the HUSKERS when our shots didn't fall --YES Did the Huskers play decent defense -- YES Did the HUSKERS oftentimes settle for poor shots -- YES Should HUSKER fans start to panic -- NO.

  7. - Was surprised to see our guys so hesitant to shoot after missing a few. Nevada also shot terribly from the perimeter, but their demeanor was different. They stepped up and seemed to take every shot with confidence and no hesitation. - Dalano played 38 minutes. Clearly, he's the guy Fred trusts the most. He felt like he needed to take shots I don't think he'll normally take, due to our offense being so stagnant. Credit Nevada - they executed their defensive gameplan, which was to completely take away the paint and just hope Nebraska missed enough threes. It worked for them, but

  8. Poor rebounding, horrible shooting and not driving the ball when you are bricking threes and the ref’s are calling defensive fouls if the defender even looks at the ball handler. The rebounding and shooting reminded me of last year. We even had our usual quota of air balls. Maybe our bad shooting was because our legs were dead from yesterday’s game but our misses were bricks. Banton’s last shot was unfortunate as it was deeper then necessary and rushed. This was a winnable game as Nevada is picked to finish 7th in the Mountain West Conference. The season is

  9. Would it be a reasonable experiment to have Stevenson start and play Thor's minutes and have Thor off the bench? I'm hoping Andre can bring something to the rotation when the Big Ten season rolls around. The team we have should go 4-3 or 5-2 non-conference, and the team we'll have with Andre and then Walker hopefully can win between 6 and 8 in the conference. Bring everybody back, add Lakes, Tominaga, Breidenbach and that one kid from South Carolina, and be a tourney team. Baby steps sometimes means the baby falls down. Time to get back up.

  10. Gaaaaa! Can we get an inside game, please? I get the idea of drawing the opposing team's big out to the 3-point line where maybe they aren't so comfortable. And opening up driving lanes. But that only works if you're hitting shots. And to have a 2-point lead with under a minute to play and being outscored 5-0 to end the game is not how I would have drawn things up. I don't know if Walker or Andre give us an inside offensive presence or not, but neither Lat nor Yvan do.

  11. Sir, this is the Fred Hoiberg era. The question is who will guard Wilhelm.

  12. I noticed Mayen pass up a couple of looks as well. Might be one of these guys that is streaky and knows when he does or does not have it. Banton making those couple of 3s early in the 2nd half gave seemed to give him the green light to just keep shooting them. Maybe he proves it down the line but I don't think of him as a guy who should be shooting that many 3s. I thought the look for him to end the game was a good enough play because with a 6'9" guard you at the very least get the shot off...an attempt gives you a better chance to tie than a turnover or blocked shot. I would

  14. I noticed this about Lat as well and posted in the game thread. Lost all confidence in the 2nd. Passed up at least 2-3 good and open looks.

  15. Teddy needs to let the game come to him and stop hunting shots. If he plays within the structure of the offense he should be ok, otherwise he will become a liability.

  16. Pretty much when he touches the ball, I'd say. He forces some horrible shots and the offense does not flow well when he's in the lineup.

  17. The hardest part about coaching is when you have a philosophy and it isn’t working. How do you get the guys to adjust styles without losing confidence in the philosophy or putting a name to the issue. Coach and the leaders on the court didn’t manage this one well today.

  20. Live by the 3, Die by the 3... when we were up 10 that should have been “Ballgame” Stevenson certainly needs more minutes & how did Teddy score all those points with that Homemade jump shot...?

  21. Thor was bad on both ends today. He may end up just being a zone buster on this team. He can’t defend guards. Lat was softish on the boards. Banton needs to go to the rack against tall defenders as a default. He can get in at will and draw help if he doesn’t score. Kobe and Shamiel are making serious cases to start. Trey didn’t show up offensively but he willed us back into the game on defense. Can’t fault him for this one. Teddy was abysmal in the first half but I think he’s figuring out how to manufacture his points at this level.

  22. Nebrasketball giveth and Nebrasetball taketh away. Yvan. Oof. I expected more gains in his game from the offseason work he put in. He was last in minutes so I don't think they go down much. I really like Webster. He seems to get so high so quick on his jump shot. I really like this team and am still pretty high on them. But I think I can temper down my Cinderella run into the tourney daydreams for a moment

  24. Trey was in a little foul trouble and Thor recognized he was off and tried to play within himself.

  25. Ouedraogo is really bad. He may have reshaped his body but he has zero hands or touch. Mayen has to take that shot at the end. It was open. Bad loss because we had it in the bag.

I agree, we should skip the sweet 16 nonsense and act like a final four team.

  28. A couple of observations: Stevenson should be playing more minutes. Weeks ago I thought he should be a starter. Also, Yvan has no place in the Big Ten- football perhaps, but not here, especially when Hoiberg favors skill. Good grief.... I think the temp. loss of Andre and Walker is significant. Perhaps they will be decent when the two big men return. Naturally, Nebraska had to absorb some annual bad news sent by the Basketball Archons to make the season less promising. (Perhaps a pre-season exorcism of the arena might help?) It's tragi-comic how NU starts every

  29. I am sick and f*****g tired of s****y players like Ouedraogo taking minutes. Why does this continually happen? Hoiberg is brilliant yet he recruits and plays a man who is clearly, profoundly unskilled. Footwork, hands and awareness are non-existent. If he continues to see minutes NU will finish last again- as predicted by the coaches and media. If Hoiberg needs an eligible, unskilled brute all he has to do is ask one of the tall, slow big guys on the other inept team (see Memorial Stadium) to fill in like last year. I am sure Austin Allen couldn't be any worse than Ouedraogo, for example.
