I think the one thing that is a little eye opening is the fact it seems like very little time was committed to building leadership skills. Reading Bourne's comments about last year. Williams talk about "it's new for us". Williams has quite a few tools she can use here and it sounds like they really did not give it much thought til things got shutdown by CV19. I would say that is part of the reason why we have seen the results on the court. Maybe this is how this staff and program turn the corner and take the next step in the B1G and NCAA.2 points -
ANOTHER NEW ARTICLE IN OWH 11 23 20 In part.... a lot about chemistry change we've talked about Bourne, who improved as the season wore on and earned more playing time, could see the issues. "We just struggled with the leadership last year," Bourne said. "We didn't have a big emphasis on it, so sometimes it didn't feel like we had someone to keep us accountable." Williams spent the offseason — elongated by the coronavirus — reading and talking to other coaches, including volleyball coach John Cook, about how to create leadership. From various sources, she put together a plan she said works for her team. Bourne, Cain and Haiby all had to fill out captain applications, for example. They've done book studies. They've talked to NU's sports psychologists. "We made some pretty dramatic changes with how we handle it," Williams said. "We're much more intentional, and it's new for us. It's one of the few benefits COVID gave us — a break time to step back, pause and evaluate the different ways and ideas to develop different or better leadership within the program." Nebraska tends to have a team slogan. This year, it's FACT — Family Action Changes Things. "It's very much a team-based game," Bourne said. "One person isn't better than anybody else. Everybody has a job to do."2 points

Agreed. They don't have much height off the bench, so let's go with Yvan in the starting lineup and bring Thor off the bench. Put McGowens on Kuxhausen — the sharpshooter. We should have a better starting lineup either way, but the real difference may come when we go to the bench: Thor, Stevenson, Walker, Webster and maybe a little Andre.1 point

Trivia Question (try guessing before looking)
Norm Peterson reacted to Navin R. Johnson for a topic
Agree with both of you. I felt in the past we passed over some kids that could shoot because they were not athletic enough to guard people in our conference. We had slashers with no where to go because the lane was always clogged up with defenders who didn't care if their man had the ball. The saying offense wins games but defense wins championships can be true but the saying offense wins games and more offense wins more games can work as well.1 point -

Trivia Question (try guessing before looking)
Norm Peterson reacted to hugh42 for a topic
Miles and Doc both recruited players that were slashers/scorers as opposed to shooters. But you can go back even further. Collier didn't recruit shooters either which was a bit surprising and Nee recruited scorers as well. The common theme is that all of these coaches, recruited players that were athletic enough to compete in the Big 8/12/10. What we ended up with most of the time were guys who had decent athleticism, but were average basketball players and mostly below average shooters. There have been some exceptions, but very few.1 point -

I would assume Walt did it in his one good year. Other than that I honestly would be more surprised if anyone did than if they didn't. I know Webster didn't shoot 40% from deep his junior year and he was as good if not better that year from 3 than anyone in that timeframe. So if he didn't hit that mark I doubt anyone else over the past 10 years did.1 point -

As long as I'm on an Eduardo Andre kick, I had wondered what his FT% was in HS because that's probably a better measure of his shooting touch than looking at FG% for a guy who, in HS, probably got a lot of dunks. So, here's what I found for his junior year of HS: FT% = 64; FG% = 59 And then there's this: Year Grade Team GP PPG DEFR OFFR RPG APG SPG BPG TPG 18-19 Junior Varsity 23 12.3 8.5 2.7 11.5 0.6 0.1 4.3 0.31 point -

Okay Mr. Old School, maybe we should be wearing these. We don't even incorporate our school colors in any of our uniforms regardless of sport, so there you go. On a serious note, the main problem I have had with our basketball uniforms over the years is the addition of black or gray to them. It isn't as bad when this is used to frame numbers or letters, but when it is added as a major feature of the uni I typically haven't liked them. I'm in favor of just red and white being used. As to players wanting to wear something that looks good, I don't have a problem with that. I'm guessing most aren't thinking about the uni's when they are playing in a game.1 point -

Although I'm not a fan of the black alt's (never have been) these are all a major improvement over last years' uniforms. Also it's worth mentioning that the shorts appear to be a bit shorter this year than last. I am a big fan of going back to shorter shorts. Couldn't stand the old baggy shorts that would hang down halfway between the knee and ankle.1 point -
