    OT: 90 Days

I have 90 calender days left at work, for the last 43 yrs I have walked through the doors of a state office (Roads}. And that will end on Oct 2nd, it is a bitter sweet time for me. I have been telling stories of some of the stuff I have seen and done in those 43 yrs. It is time for the young bucks to take over. I just wish that they would listen to me when they ask for advice. But it is up to them to make thier minds up. I can only tell them what I would do. I have had many close calls (Death/ injuried) I got luckly about a month ago, when a backhoe swung around nearly hitting me. I hit deck, got up and the backhoe operator was white as a ghost. I got lazy and didn't let him know that I was behind him. So it was my fault. I have also had 4 ribs broken and a wrist. I got pinched in a semi trailer and broke the ribs., and when I broke my wrist I was trying break my fall and trying not to get stuck by some rebar. Okay enough of this. I think it will be a sad last day, but I wont have to worry about jobs anymore and can sleep at night.

  5. The more we learn about the virus and about our own behaviors, the more it is apparent that college-aged individuals as a collective are unwilling to do the recommended steps to slow the spread. This is only going to be compounded at universities with active frats/sororities and large percentages of on-campus residents; college night life will be a petri dish for COVID. For these reasons, I find it likely that many colleges will experience mass outbreaks that will result in them shutting down very early in the academic year. Will universities maintain their athletic programs while simultaneously moving to 100% computer-based distance learning? If so, do they just maintain the money-making sports or do they also keep the small sports afloat? How does Title IX effect the decision? To me, these are the key questions that need answered in order to determine whether we will see Nebrasketball on the court this year.

    2021 Recruits

So the 20-21 season is good news in terms of getting some transfers to bolster the team plus the recruits that we are in line for in 2021. However, (as I have said before) the major problem and bad news is we have the same coaching staff which has proven to be ineffective in improving and in fixing problems. Several things have remained issues with the current coaching staff the last few seasons to include turnovers; lack of offensive rebounding; defensive issues at times; numerous missed close in shots; and questionable offensive schemes/development particularly for the 4/5 position players. So unless the current staff gets some coaching acumen, it looks like the 2020-21 NE women's basketball team will likely be another season of mediocrity or less. Recruiting is only part of trying to get better, but improved coaching is paramount!!!

  13. And that Storm may allow me to attend way more than just winter break Huskers games! I recently accepted a Math Instructor position with SCC Beatrice, (hence the Storm) and my partner and I will move to Lincoln in late July! The Hard Hat is back!
