  1. It's currently his job to comment publicly on college basketball. The Huskers should not be free from his comments.

  2. He’s literally one of two on BTN today. It’s his job. Do you expect him to say “no comment” or lie? Good grief.

  3. I would place the blame on an administration that left Miles and his staff hanging, rather than s coach and his staff that gave it their all to the end.

  4. Another blown season and I log on to see us bashing.... MILES... in the game thread. Guys, that is so 2019. Tim is doing his job in studio. Just because he says it like it is, doesn't mean that he shouldn't say anything. If there is one thing Tim has always shown, it's class and not thinking that it was different in the studio today. Looking forward to the day that we can finally stop blaming Tim for all of our problems since he hasn't been the coach in about a year.

  5. In the worst case, we will still be light years ahead next year in terms of returning production. Last year's returning production: Thorir Thorbjarnarson, 2.0 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.2 apg Next year's returning production: Thorir Thorbjarnarson, 8.6 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 1.3 apg

  6. They have not even been here a year. Not sure what some of you expect, top 50 guys just do not show up magically on your campus. Give them some time please, your going to give yourself a stroke.

  7. I keep thinking that only a slight increase in talent will result in way more points, especially at the rim and at the line. Defensively, more length and lateral quickness will make a huge difference as well. The off-season will be fascinating. Again, I’m not really seeing flawed game plans. It looks like basketball on both ends to me. But today’s lineup was basically a D2 roster. A lineup of Banton, King, Allen, Mayen, and Yvan probably beats Minnesota with the same gameplan. I cannot wait to see Fred and Doc with a real squad next season.

  11. Not many 6 footish 150 poundish PG's in the NBA that has gone thru a season with four suspensions, struggles finishing at the rim, struggles with the three point shot, struggles defending, struggles at the free throw line and drops his head with angst when things go wrong. Yes, he is quick, yes he protects the rock with good handles and makes sweet passes. But when you look at NBA point guards, they have few if any flaws . They are elite.

  12. He's literally working in the BTN studio today before, during, and after our game. Should he just sit there and say nothing for over 2 hours?
    3 points
  13. True - but there would have been quite a few issues even if Tim was still the coach. He should probably refrain from commenting publicly about it.

  16. With the guys we have sitting out (Banton, Stevenson, Walker), the guys we have coming in (Allen, Mayen, King) and the guys we probably have coming back (Yvan, Cross, Thor), that's a 5- to 8-win conference team. If we add some more pieces that are better than what we have, we might sniff .500 and postseason play. Give that group a year to play together in a Hoiberg system, add in a few players like Tominaga, Whitt and Sanogo (minus Thor), and we have a potential NCAA team in Year 3. I can see it, and I've seen 58 years of heartache. That light ahead may not be another oncoming train. Beat the Hoosiers!

  17. we get better players soon or the beatings continue. everyone says we have them. for the sake of this fanbase, I hope so, because we don't need just a little improvement. We need a ton.

  18. Guys we scored 75 today with Mack and Burke in Lincoln and Easley playing 33 minutes. To many missed gimmies at the rim Don't need to mention the defense, that horse has been dead and decayed for the last month, FT shooting today was finally Div 1 level. Going forward I have no clue who or who will not be back. A couple of the young guys have shown signs that with some work and improvement they may be good for us. Hopefully, we won't have to deal with our best player not understanding he is not above the team rules.

  19. Miles turned it around with transfers. He had zero star high school players. Brought in Petteway and Pitchford to play with a few other mid level high school recruits. Shields, Parker, Rivers, Webster. Then, after making the NCAA tournament gathered top 150 recruits like Watson, Morrow, Allen, along with more transfers. We had down years while these players developed. It has worked before, not having high school stars. I have more faith in Fred in sustaining that success than Miles.

  20. Welp, just finished watching the game on delay. Even with fast forward it was probably less pleasant than my colonoscopy. At least I was sedated for that one. Now, on to the tournament. I'll bet the Hoosiers are quaking now. Although if we could somehow win that one, it would be a nice touch and possibly knock them off the bubble. That is my positive thought for the day.

Here's the stats since 1990. Point being, this is something that's par for the course from time-to-time when you're playing an uptempo style of basketball. Nee's era experienced many of these (this doesn't include games where we scored 100+ and the opponent did not): 1999 at TCU (L) 1998 at Texas (L) 1995 at Oklahoma (3 OT L) 1995 vs. Northern Iowa (L) 1995 neut. Oregon (W) 1994 at Oklahoma (OT L) 1992 at Oklahoma (L) 1992 at Kansas (L) 1992 at Michigan State (L) 1991 neut. Oklahoma (OT W) 1991 vs. Southern Utah (W)

  30. As someone else mentioned, I wonder what happened between arriving in Mpls, & then having the two sent back to Lincoln? Did they violate curfew up there or something to that affect? Who knows.... Also, not that it matters, but I wish I would’ve drove a Mercedes when I was a Sophomore in College...

  31. Makes you wonder what happened since they were in Minneapolis and were sent back to Lincoln. Gonna be another flip in the offseason. I was looking forward to Burke being back--hope he still is. Who knows with Mack? Not sure he wanted to be here too badly really. I too will be watching in person tomorrow ... could be ... interesting?

  32. Let's start the WTF lineup: Easley Thor Cheatham Arop Yvan Those five guys will work hard, that's for sure, and that's all we can ask for. Maybe there's a little Trueblood/Borchardt magic in this group.

  34. Yes.... Watching Nicea play all these years has been great fun. Her enthusiasm, hard work, just plain consistent effort is the way it should be done. You can tell she's had the correct kind of guidance in her life, by her demeanor and actions. It will serve her well. Actualfacts...it's been a pleasure to have her as a NU representative and student / athlete. Just hope you and Nicea have enjoyed it as well....nearly as much as we here.. have too.

  37. I don't necessarily like the 'difficulty' that comes along with Mack but I don't really understand where people are cutting bait with him now given that this is no new development. Typically the most visible adjustment from Juco to D-1 is play on the court. For Mack, it appears to be off the court. FWIW it's not in the classroom. The guy who everyone thinks is going to drop out of school to go pro made the honor roll. It's not so much about effort with Mack as it's just him wanting to do what he wants to do it seems. At some point the amount of talent you have is not enough for people to put up with certain levels of crap and he has breached those levels multiple times this year. I very much don't think he's broken the dam though. He absolutely needs to declare for the NBA and see if any teams will work him out so that maybe he appreciates the sort of professionalism that is expected of him is important for his future and not some sort of childish game to play.

  49. That's because the recent labels of 'disruptive' and 'difficulty' seem to be mainly because of the 'difficulty' of getting him to sign with Nebraska has been 'disruptive' to Nebraska fans. I can buy something like we wanted to see how he recovered from his injury or we recruited over him or his skill set wasn't exactly what we wanted because even if invented they make sense. To be told that the issue was 'disruptive' is such BS given that it seems like we don't care at all about this recruiting most anyone else.
