  1. Hmm. I will provide the following observation about last season, Tim's final year. The team played it's collective asses off during the last month despite injuries, despite playing with an eclectic group of players, and despite a coach that was "dead man walking" so to speak. I did not see or hear that team quit. Remember too, a Miles team that once had bench players that got national attention for their celebratory mood on the bench. This year we have had a couple players who do not "appear" to be motivated or invested into the team concept. I am not positive that is an accurate observation, but i know of many who have mentioned similar observations to me. This is Fred's first year of building his program. It will be interesting to see how chemistry and character evolves next year and for years to come. If the players are patterned after their leader, we should be more than okay.

  2. Who has better basketball fans than Nebraska? Seriously. I watched the Penn State game earlier, and they had a nine-year run of zero sellouts. That ended this year because they're good. Kansas? Duke? Kentucky? Psssh. Real tough being a fan of those teams. Our time will come, but until then, we show up and hope against hope. Here's to at least one more win this year to reward the players and the country's best fans.

  3. How many assists would Mack have with Andre Smith or Dave Hoppen or Rich King or Kimani Ffriend or Carl McPipe or Aleks Maric or Venson Hamilton or Chuck Jura or Mikki Moore or even Brandon Ubel at the end of his post-entry passes? To myself: "He's just 17. He's just 17. He's just 17. He's just 17. He's just 17. He's just 17."

  4. Since it’s Legends Weekend, I had the pleasure of hanging out with Jerry Shoecraft & Henry T. Buchanan last night. Heard so many great stories & listen to them talk smack, but we never did decide who could jump higher Greg Downing or Curtis Moore...

  5. Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-17) vs Wisconsin Badgers (14-10) Date: Saturday Feb 15th, 2020 Time: 1:15 p.m. Arena: Kohl Center (17,287, 18th largest in D-I) Broadcast: BTN Half Time: Legends Weekend Wisconsin Info Head Coach: Greg Gard Location: Madison, WI Conference: B1G Nickname: Badgers Mascot: Bucky Badger Line: Wisconsin by 6.5 Typical Rotation Depth: 8 KenPom rank: 32 Offensive Style: Slowly shootin' 3s Defensive Style: securing offensive rebounds/not fouling Key Loses: Former starting SG Kobe King has transferred Players to watch: Nate Reuvers The Junior is another in the line of mobile Wisconsin centers who can make 3s. Additionally he's an excellent shot blocker Players to watch: Micah Potter The Badgers have been integrating Potter into the offense since he became eligible mid-semester and offensively he's been a boost as he takes the load from Reuvers. Typically the two centers don't play together. Like Reuvers, Potter is a capable outside shooter. Roster points PG SG SF PF C Pct 1 0 D'Mitrik Trice 6-0 184 Jr 23 Kobe King 6-4 205 So 34 Brad Davison 6-4 206 Jr 2 Aleem Ford 6-8 217 Jr 35 Nate Reuvers 6-11 235 Jr 17.5 The Badgers play around 8 guys with 6 dominating the minutes Trice is the PG but has really struggled from outside in conference. Charge enthusiast Brad Davison also has struggled from outside. He remains a dead eye FT shooter Ford, like most everyone else, hasn't been lighting it up from outside Sr shooting guard Brevin Pritzl remains an elite 3pt shooter and stout defender 6'7" Freshman Tyler Wahl has only hit one 3 during conference play and of course that was vs Nebraska Jr guard Trevor Anderson is guard depth Hoiberg Presser Cross will continue to start; Hoiberg thought that Yvan had one of his better games in a while coming off the bench. Burke has apparently lost weight during his illness and his availability is up in the air. The Skinny: Nebraska decided they were going to make Wisconsin beat them with the 3 and Wisconsin ended up killing them with the 3, knocking down a ridiculous 18 of them. The Huskers might dial this back a bit but expect Nebraska to once again concentrate on taking away Reuvers/Potter and hoping that the Badgers have a tougher time shooting with Adidas balls. A brief glance at their home/away splits in 2020 suggest they will. Last time out Dachon Burke scored 21 points in 36 minutes. It seems unlikely he'll have the stamina to repeat those numbers coming back from his bout with the flu. Expect Jervay Green to start once again and pick up that slack. Feels like Nebraska should play this one close and thus I like their chances to pull one out at home against this Wisconsin team that has struggled to score on the road in 2020 Prediction: Nebraska 74 - Wisconsin 67 View full article

  22. How much of this is our lack of size and experience inside? If you're smaller than the other team and your players are anywhere from three to seven years younger than the players they're trying to go over to make layups, layups are anything but easy. Mack too often is trying to finish against 6-11 centers. Burke is skinny, and both appear to have been weakened by the flu this past week. That's a recipe for missing more than half of your "bunnies." As for Yvan, well, he's just 17. He's just 17. He's just 17.

  23. As someone mentioned on the game thread, Wisconsin is 33 - 65 against us in 2 games. They mentioned all other teams. I will take it further. Wisconsin is 118 - 343 against conference teams. That means they have made 27.9 % of their 3 pointers against us in 2 games. They are 33 - 65 (50.8 %) against us, and 85 - 278 (30.6 %) in the other 12 games. To take it further, Brad Davidson is 12 - 20 (60.0 %) against us. He is 20 - 60 (33.3 %) overall. He is 8 - 40 (20.0 %) in the other 12 games. This game was pretty easy to dissect. Nebraska couldn't make shots within 3 feet, and Wisconsin couldn't miss from 3. This makes this team so frustrating. They take Maryland to the wire on the road, and get back home and lose to Wisconsin. How? Can we have 2 games in a row, where we play well. We'll probably come out against MSU and play a good game, but lose to a decent MSU team.

  25. Glad to see Arop getting some minutes late. Other than the 1 in 10 games when Cross gets hot from deep, he is a total loss on both ends of the floor. I'd like to see what Arop can do when Yvan needs a breather.

  35. Minnesota is the epitome of mediocrity, and yet because of all these formulas, they're a solid 8 seed right now. Whereas two years ago, we ... never mind. It's too painful to think about.

  46. It seems like that's part of our issues...getting ball movement and creating offensive flow. Need Point's that can do that. ....Sam gets it...maybe Helms is the new sleeper at the point. Shooting: 39% 1st qtr, 28% 2nd qtr.....is it any surprise we struggle? Came out of the chute poorly again. Ended up at about 47% for the game. Thankfully we recovered and turned it up after the half.....against good teams we can't survive that way...as we know. We were a different team in the 3rd. The mad blocking team..where has that been? ..great fun ! The Inconsistencies drive me nuts, but the effort was really there tonight. Verbeek had a nice game, fought hard, seemed like her old self. Issie just continues to get better and better. NIcea was quiet in her own way doing her thing.... is just the rock of this team. Artifacts...anyway Nicea has a younger sister? or maybe NIcea can wear a disguise next year and come back? CONGRATS Kate !!!
