  1. Not sure if you're suggesting that some of the criticism here makes anyone a bandwagon jumper, but I support the Husker teams I follow no matter what. I regard my criticism as constructive and don't mean to suggest otherwise.

  2. So after a couple of games where Veerbeek has been a non factor lets hope she brings her "A" game tonight.

  3. I have talked to Coach McDermott a number of times as well and I think he is a very good coach and a good guy.(just wish he was not at Creighton!) I appreciate a guy that starts at a lower level and works his way up like Coach Mac and Miles. I think there are a number of great coaches at the lower levels that don't get a chance to move up or choose to stay at D-II or a Mid-major school. The difference between good and great is being able to bring in the big time talent. Coaches anymore have to have connections to AAU programs or other systems and some guys that know the game very well and

Yeah, I see zero reason why Akol Arop wouldn't be back. It doesn't make sense to me for him to leave, especially if he enjoys school in Lincoln; and, as a bonus, he's only 50 mi. from his parents & family. So I guess we'll have to wait & see 'til the season's over to find out what's what on this front...

  11. Nor did I say you said they desired it. You just felt especially bad for them. And I've never had much of an indication they felt bad for themselves on the matter. But I understand. I've had a front row seat for every dysfunctional thing that's happened in the last decade or so, and I get the distinct sense that fans of many Husker sports are still really angry over things that happened from roughly 2010-2016, not to mention what happened in 2003. I think there are more men's hoops fans than anyone cares to admit who miss Miles, too - and don't think he wa

  13. I left @uneblinstu name off of the topic title so he wouldn't be associated with the stink from this game I've been doing this thing where I don't post after games so I was somewhat surprised no one bothered to make one of these. Apparently this was the 'how much can these fans take' point raised by Sipple Cheatham had a bounce back game and that very much likely was the reason he led the team in minutes with 35. No one else played over 30. Kavas and Arop made the most of their garbage time minutes. Kavas pumped in 8 points in 8 minutes while Arop chipped in 4 in 3.

  14. A lot is being made of the lack of effort and intensity being displayed tonight... While I get it and have contributed to that, that's what happens to bad teams. We have to be perfect every single game to win. Even against average to bad teams. Sustaining that level of focus, energy, and effort is nearly impossible - especially when you have a little bit of a break coming up. I know that seems counterintuitive (not bringing it when you know you have a break coming up), but I've coached A LOT of low talent teams - always happens that way. Good teams don't "bring it" every single night. Good

  15. We seem to be challenged by basic fundamentals of the game. Rebounding and defensive positioning. Offensive spacing and flow. Forced, and ill advised passes. Careless dribbling. Turnovers galore. Value the possession. These are recurring concerns. Regardless of athleticism, sound basketball can be taught. Not seeing it on the court. No amount of senior leadership, is going to fix this overnight.

  16. Well it was hard to sit in the stands and watch the second half. Certainly we need to upgrade our athleticism but if we had sound fundamentals it would not be such a glaring problem. We lack that senior leadership on the court. Reading the thread about Doyle and Whitish and agree 100%. This is the time seniors need to step up and it is not happening. Hannah and Nicea should want the ball in their hands (in the second half when the game is in the balance) at this point and lead the way. Instead we have two sophomores in Sam and Leigha who sometimes look good and then have sophomore moments. Thi

  18. Drove home late this evening after realizing the icy weather was coming sooner than expected. Observations and reflections: 1. We block shots but they don’t result in change of possessions. 2. We have to value the basketball more, too many empty possessions because of poor passes, inability to catch a pass and inability to pass the ball into the post. 3. I don’t like taking players out of games when the team is playing well. 4. During timeouts our staff spends so much time in their huddle they barely have time to address the squad. 5. Our half

  20. Couple observations: 1) we have talent but we’re not nearly athletic as some of the teams we are playing. Others are not only long but can also jump. 2) we need an upgrade in coaching how to box out. 3)when the coach shows frustration as much as she does, how do you expect your players to be any different. I’m not saying she should sit on her hands but teams reflect their coaches. That’s a given. 4) BIG teams are passing us in recruiting.

Hey, guys, sorry to worry everyone. I'm not doing any sort of protest, nor am I disillusioned or anything. I was invited to participated in a sort of "observance" that asks men to give up certain things starting 90 days before Easter. Non-essential internet use is one of those things you're asked to give up. I figured if there was ever a year for me to do this program, this was the year. You get one of your sacrifices back on Sundays and I want you all to know I chose you all over taking a hot shower today. You're welcome.

  22. I'm a Cam Mack fan. He is the only guy currently playing on our team that is a true game changer. And unfortunately, that also means that when he's not playing at 100% then the game changes the wrong direction. The ceiling is extremely high with Cam, and as such it is absolutely worth giving him multiple chances to grow (both personally and on the court). I trust that Fred knows when Cam needs grace vs tough love much better than us fans do, so I'm absolutely willing to give both Fred and Cam the benefit of the doubt. Go Big Red, Go Big Fred, and Go Big Mac! P.S. to

His athleticism is great. His skills have to be developed. It takes time. I hope he stays because he's a good enough athlete to be a good player for us as un upperclassman.

He's certainly athletic enough to play at this level. I hope he sticks around. I like to think the current coaching staff will be better at developing players than the previous staff, so hopefully he reaps the benefits of that.

  25. Why? They stuck with Nebraska eyes open and were given the chance, like Cayton and Doyle, to sign elsewhere.

  26. Is this the 4th year for this coaching staff? Honestly, I’ve lost track. If so, I’m disappointed at the downturn this late in the season. I think back to a post from when this coaching staff was hired about expectations we all listed each year and I don’t think we are headed in a positive direction right now. There is still time to win some games this season and try to get in as a bubble team, so I want to see the players and coaching staff giving it everything they’ve got. i was concerned early this season when I would see us go on long scoring droughts against teams that reall

  27. Turned off the computer early last night. I didn't want to sound too critical, immediately after a tough loss. I'm still bummed today. Sorry if this post seems negative. Everything you mention, to me, originates with coaching. I'm starting to wonder if we have a BIG level staff. Handling pressure, rebounding, defense, stagnant offense, atrocious passing, and turnover issues, all are recurring nightmares. Time for the coaches to up their game. I think this group of players can win. These are quality players, and admirable students. They need a little help.
