Fever nailed it. Been a huge Husker fan since I was 6 years old, went to my first game on my 8th birthday, and now I'm almost social security eligible. And I like to pull a cork. No doubt its Husker hoops. Or, it could just be my hometown. Hard to say.3 points

6 Reasons Fred Hoiberg Is A Great FLOOR Coach
Red Don and one other reacted to AuroranHusker for a topic
If you can't see Freddy & Company's greatness as a bench coaching staff during a game, then you're not paying attention. This rag-tag team has competed HARD in nearly every single game, and will do so again tonight. He coaches circles around his predecessor (sans Craig Smith). And I liked Miles for what he was. I just happen to prefer Hoiberg. And so did Bill Moos. It's all good in the neighborhood -- next season ought to be a lot of fun ! And the remainder of this year will still be a wild ride, even if the results aren't so great. GBR !!!2 points -

Cross is going to have to show me a little bit more before I would nominate him a starter, personally. 29% from deep and 37% from the field is rough. Easley and Burke are the only two that have shot worse from three. I know that Fred said at the beginning of the year that he was consistent in practice, but it just hasn't shown in games. Now in addition to that, I am really disappointed at times on D. While he does go for rebounds at times, he tends to play "ole" defense during games and that leads to a lot of easy buckets for the other team. Personally, I think that, if he were playing good enough to start in practice and games, he would be. Yuv isn't providing so much during his starts that we couldn't start Cross. Lastly, I keep thinking back to a few weeks ago when Fred said that our three sitting out beat our starters. While the majority could have been Banton and Stevenson, I think that Walker would probably be a major part of that as the other two are walk-ons. After all of that however, there are times where Cross does something and I am like "wow." I don't think that there isn't a place for him on this team moving forward. I personally think that he will be a solid contributor in the years to come. I'm just not ready to go out on a limb and say that he will be a starter on a team that should add a wealth of talent next year.2 points -

Teams like to suspend players before playing Nebraska... Ohio State did it with 2 starters earlier this season. I have a feeling that a lack of Livers along with the suspended Simpson will likely not work out as well as OSU's lack of 2 dudes for a ballgame at their own house. I will admit, it's a bold strategy, Cotton!2 points -

Game Day Essentials: Game #21 vs Michigan
Shawn Eichorst's Toupee reacted to hhcmatt for a topic
Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-13) vs Michigan Wolverines (11-8) Date: Tuesday Jan 28th, 2020 Time: 6:00 p.m. Arena: Pinnacle Bank Arena (15,000, 29th largest in D-I) Broadcast: BTN Michigan Info Head Coach: Juwan HowardLocation: Ann Arbor, MIConference: B1GNickname: Wolverines Shirt not to wear: Yellow, Blue, NikeLast time out: Lost to Illinois Line: Michigan by 4.5 Typical Rotation Depth: 7-9 KenPom rank: 30 KenPom home court advantage calculation: 4.0 (25th in D-I) Offensive Style: To the rim Defensive Style: Guarding the 3 Key Loses: Zavier Simpson - suspended Key injury: Isaiah Livers is day to day Hoiberg Presser Cheatham Presser Most of the focus was talking about the tragic death of Kobe Bryant. Hoiberg mentioned he tried to hire Howard as an assistant while he was coaching the Bulls. Players to watch: Jon Teske The big 7'1" center leads the team in scoring and rebounding. Teske takes and makes enough 3s where you have to honor that ability. With starting point guard Zavier Simpson out for this game look for the Wolverines to try and feed the big man vs this undersized Nebraska team. He's also a formidable rim protector. Players to watch: Isaiah Livers Will he play tonight? If he point spread is any indication, the answer is yes.The 6'7" 230lb Livers is one of the most efficient players in the conference and Michigan losing one of its best 3pt shooters has most likely contributed to their 4 game losing streak Roster points 9 0 David DeJulius 6-0 190 So 55 Eli Brooks 6-1 185 Jr 21 Franz Wagner 6-9 205 Fr 23 Brandon Johns 6-8 235 So 15 Jon Teske 7-1 265 Sr 2.7 This little used roster is a possible starting lineup for Michigan. If Livers is available, he's probably starting for Brandon Johns. The other thing about the Wolverines is their lack of guards as DeJulius and Brooks are the only two ball handling guards with major minutes DeJulius is most likely the starting the starting PG and will possibly play a career high number of minutes (31 vs Purdue) Starting 2 guard Brooks will likely share in the ball handling duties Franz is the younger brother of former star Mo and brings an inconstant in and out game. It's possible he plays some time at the 2 or even the 1 tonight. Nebraska will have to work hard to keep forward Brandon Johns off the boards. Johns is typically the 5th option on offense and can clog the paint when paired with Teske Soph Adrien Nunez and Fr Cole Bajema are a couple of high ranked out of HS guys not currently in the rotation. Look for them to get PT tonight and to be candidates for the 'no one saw this coming' guy Centers Austin Davis and Colin Castleton are both traditional post players used not only as depth for Teske but will also play with him. Michigan won't have any hangups about trying to match up with Nebraska's small line up. I'll mention walk-ons Rico Ozuna-Harrison and Luke Wilson as potential ball handlers in case of emergency The Skinny: If any team has had Nebraska's number in conference it has been the Wolverines whom Nebraska finally beat with aplomb back in 2018. The Huskers are 1-10 vs Michigan and Jon Beilein since joining the conference. Enter new coach Juwan Howard who started off hot, guiding the Wolverines to #4 in the AP poll at the start of the season. 2020 has not been kind to Michigan with the Wolverines going just 1-5 thus far in the new year. Michigan finds itself on the road without starting PG Zavier Simpson to battle Nebraska for the right to stay out of 13th place in the conference. How well can Nebraska deny Michigan the ball and how well can the Wolverines feed the post without the leading assist man in the conference? Look for Nebraska to deny and then double down in the post. Switching or zone seems in order as the Huskers won't want their post players to follow the Michigan bigs out to the 3pt line. Someone has to step up tonight for Michigan. Will it be someone unexpected? The Wolverines will try to spread and if this cold shooting Michigan team can find their range with our Adidas balls, it will be a long night. Offensively the Huskers will need to finish at the rim against this Michigan team that runs people off the 3pt line as well as anyone in the country. It certainly won't hurt for Nebraska that Simpson is one of the best on-ball defenders in the conference. Cam Mack should find some easier sledding penetrating into the lane and spraying balls out to the corners. Look for Nebraska to be the one to snap their losing streak tonight. Prediction: Nebraska 79 - Michigan 74 with a 63% chance of Runzas View full article1 point -
For some reason, I'm feeling alright about tonight.1 point

The league has so many good teams that it made me wonder how the season would play out. Some teams wilt in the pressure of tough games night in, night out, plus dealing with injuries, bad shots, bad calls etc. At the beginning of BIG play, I wouldn't have picked Ohio State and Michigan as ones that wilted, and Iowa, Illinois and Rutgers as ones that could handle the heat. Then again, we're only halfway through, so who knows what happens in February. Maybe that's our turn to shine!1 point -

Speechless. I’ve been without words all day regarding this news. I’m an expecting father, and the vision in my head of him grasping for his daughter in their last seconds, knowing the helicopter was going down, is destroying me. I grew up as a huge MJ fan, but admittedly only caught the tail end of his career. I was in love with the “MJ attitude,” and never thought we’d see that again. But Kobe man.... dude was so fun to watch. And just a ruthless killer. I’m gonna stop cause I can’t do the man justice... RIP Kobe, his daughter, and the other humans on the helicopter. Thoughts and prayers to all the families involved.1 point -

Not sure I’ve ever seen a team with slower foot speed than us. Most fans just watch offense. But I’m telling you we are god awful on defensive speed and quickness. Some of it is just slow, and some of it is effort. We get by with some of it due to a shot blocking post. Ultimately, to go anywhere, we’re gonna have to recruit more quickness, and emphasize playing harder on D. If anyone tries to contend we look remotely like playing with our hair on fire on defense, they would be wrong.1 point -
Wisconsin had been shooting 27 percent from 3-point range the month of January: 6-of-23 (26 percent) at Ohio State 4-of-15 (27 percent) vs. Illinois 6-of-21 (29 percent) at Penn State 7-of-21 (33 percent) vs. Maryland 4-of-19 (21 percent) at Michigan State 18-of-34 (53 percent) vs. Nebraska Yeah, we're bad, but ... c'mon. I agree with most of your points but I believe you’re selling Miles short on two. One of Miles’ ‘Hallmark’ moves was implementing zone, to decent success, to turn games around. Maybe not last year as much but two to three years ago he used it frequently. Also I think hoiberg wasn’t the only one who believed in Thor, I mean, Tim brought him here!1 point -
