  1. I don't know that we have to worry about losing him to Nebraska Omaha. I'm not even sure the Mavs have offered him.

  4. Okay, everyone who predicted a month ago that we'd be tied with Ohio State in the standings after 8 games (and just half a game behind Michigan) raise your hand. Now, put your damn hands down ya bunch of liars!

    2020 Baseball

I think we will finish better than 8th also. Haven't seen what others have coming back, but we should be a decent team this year. This is everyone who is back that played a majority of games : C - Hellstrom/Roskam 1B - Gomes/Roskam 2B - Hallmark SS - Schwellenbach 3B - Chick LF - Mojo CF - Acker RF - Palinsky This doesn't include the freshmen or anyone else. Weekend rotation I would like to see : SP - Gomes I would like to see him get the Friday starter spot. He has Komine/Joba potential SP - Perry SP - Blessie In this scenario Shay would probably be the closer. Plenty of arms to be excited about. The season will depend on how the arms hold up throughout the season. Also, probably why we are picked 8th since we lose our entire weekend rotation.

    A bit of good news

Sounds very familiar to a story that I’ve heard multiple times about a certain scout team back in 1989-1990, with a guy by the name of Eric Piatkowski , that used to stick it to the starters on a consistent basis.

  8. Advancing the ball against pressure. Until we can get a true PG it will be any better. Maybe Helms can help next year. But we need a LM or RT type to hndle it.

    Morrow leaving

He did get to live out a dream that a lot of us here have - he got to clock Zegarowski. Echoing everyone else: best of luck to him.

  10. Christopher Heady @heady_chris Fred Hoiberg says the lineup of Dalano Banton, Derrick Walker, Shamiel Stevenson, Brett Porter and Jace Piatkowski run scout team and those 5 beat the eligible Huskers “quite a bit.” Hoiberg also said Banton understands the game as well as anyone he’s been around.

He also performed very well during the team's pre-season scrimmage at the Vault.

  13. He's said on several occasions he want's to play "close to home" so has his family can see him play. Plus, who'd want to live in Spokane Washington (right?) when the could attended the "Harvard of the Plains" right down the road in Lincoln...!

  14. This one is pretty easy. Rick Stansbury rarely plays guys on his bench. At the beginning of the season their starting senior PG Lamonte Bearden was ineligible for the first semester (no idea why) and Banton got decent playing time and eventually became the starting PG. Bearden came back and once he became the starting PG he rarely came off the court. Thus, those per game averages included a lot of games where Banton played under 10 minutes and a few just a couple of minutes. Bearden was the more consistent player last year so it made a lot of sense for Banton to not play much and this worked out to our benefit. The other thing that Stansbury is doing at W. Kentucky is that it appears from the numbers he running more of a Miles type offense where guys are dribble-driving into the lane (No idea what they actually run but they don't generate a ton of assists and have a lot of guys getting to the FT line). A lot of the complements about Banton from Hoiberg involve him picking up our offense quickly and scoring easy buckets because of it. I guess think of the sort of jump Thor made in this offense and then project that onto a 6'8" PG. It would seem natural to expect Banton to be more consistent with a couple of years under his belt and our offense probably would relieve some of the turnover problems he had at W. Kentucky. Really the only question mark is his outside shot, which is the difference between him being a very good player and an elite player for us.

  15. Keep in mind though that Penn State is coached by Pat Chambers so I wouldn't count my chickens before they hatch if I were Lions fans. Seems like we've seen this movie before with them.

    A bit of good news

Palmer was only averaging like 4 points a game at Miami before he came here. I believe that Banton is our best player on this roster as of now and has the most NBA potential due to his frame. In regards to practice........I remember when Nick Bahe would say on the radio, and on his podcast as well, that sit out transfers and redshirt players always seem to perform well at practice because you have no assignments other than recreating players of another team. You don't have to remember anything defensively. You don't need to worry about schematics. Just go out there and ball and give a good look for the starters. Basically what I'm saying is, much like football, I'm trying to avoid all reports from the media and just let my eyes do the evaluating haha.

    Here are the 2020 recruits

Thanks for post. I watched the whole game and like all the aspects of Stewart's game. It will be good to have a post that can shoot from the outside. Seems very knowledgeable on what she can do and seemed like a long 6 ft three.

    Purdue vs Nebraska....

With regards to time outs, I too think we could make better use of them in the first half of games. In the second halves, I like the strategy of saving them until the end. Being able to call a time out on the defensive end, and have it advanced to the offensive end, benefits a team like us. Advancing the ball against pressure, has not been a strength of Amy's team(s).

  20. If we keep losing competitive games, we may be the first 20+ loss team ever to finish in the top 100! Got to keep that glass half full

    Purdue vs Nebraska....

Purdue gets the credits for their game plan. Their confidence was high. They shut down our 3 shooting with perimeter defense (maybe the biggest factor), and went after Cain on defense, ... drove the lane on her, and posted up on Cain to get her to foul, and limit her minutes. And it worked. And very simply they came to play.. We.. not so much, especially in the first qtr. That is concerning....slow starts happens with this team. ...and that was that...we were way to far behind. Got beat on the boards

  22. Nah, there's really no need to bring Mo into this. PSU ought to be ashamed of their actions over a very lengthy period of time. And MSU, they've done a lot of dumb stuff in gymnastics, as I recall.

  23. Good find - I learned a lot from that list, including that they play pro basketball in quite a few places I never would have guessed. Good for those guys & hope we have a lot more names to add to the list over the next few years. PS - I do remember Kris Douse (at least the name), but I don't think I could pick him out of a police lineup. Unless the other guys were all 5-11.
