Ok, since this thread is already way off the rails, here are some others which are worth seeing: Mr. Roberts, MASH, Paths of Glory, and Ken Burns' documentary series on Viet Nam.3 points -

Sek was a stud. Much like Toney McCray, I thought Doc did poorly with him. They were legit ballers with the right coach. And I love Doc, but I didn't care for the way he handled certain players, especially those 2.3 points -

Sek was one of my favorite players on that team, and I will also never forget this moment. Maybe I'm too uptight, but I was enraged at this sign. If I was closer to those two, I definitely would have told them to have some respect for someone who had just given four years of hard work.3 points -
I had heard about the off-camera antics, but was not aware of a documentary film showing it all. Will look this up, thank you! Some of the 50's, 60's, and 70's war movies may be low in special effects and production value, but A Bridge Too Far and The Bridge over River Kwai have always been favorites of mine2 points

thrasher31 and one other reacted to Mr. Red for a topic
To clarify: I laughed at the sheer stupidity of making a sign just to deride a player on his senior night. I too was a Sek fan. I could be wrong but it seemed to me that he always gave it 100% and sometimes things just didn't click. I really respect him sticking around and working through a difficult situation (offensive game not flowing, coach crawling up your a** everyday, etc.) and becoming a very good player for us. I wonder if Jervay can persevere through this difficult time, but unfortunately we know that 1-3 people (based on NCAA D1 averages- NO SPECULATION HERE) that are currently wearing Husker uniforms will transfer out after this season. I for one hope he gets every opportunity to grow and blossom and make the best decision for himself2 points -

was rather surprised because when i turned the channel back to football, indiana was pretty well under control. my, iowa is playing well at home. i never saw this coming. doyle is really having a nice senior year. iowa is a team that really plays together well and have that "chemistry". they just all seem to be on the same page. i thought they would finish in that 7-9 spot in the standings. now, they will most likely fight for that 3-4-5 spot. wow. gotta hand it to bluder----she has done a really nice job considering what they lost.2 points -

Captain Newman M.D. was a favorite book for me which tends to ruin most movies because of preexisting perceptions from the book. Also works to a lesser extent in reverse if the movie is seen first.1 point

Mentioned it before...but had teams in the past....rarely thankfully,....... but a player can be like poison to team chemistry. Bad attitude in general, or toward the coach or another player(s) just makes the whole experience awful. Your better off without them. We've experienced this in the past, maybe to a lesser extent.1 point -

My only concern about YO is if he stays around. Was having a conversation with two of my highly successful and intelligent friends this weekend, and it’s so disappointing to me how easily it has become for smart people to lose sight of the fact that it is entirely possible for basketball players to get better. YO can’t finish right now. That’s why he can’t play as much and why his numbers are so bad. That’s a skill. That’s a thing you can learn how to do and get better at. We once lived in a world where you could expect people to stay around to their junior years and eventually watch them flourish. Can Hoiberg and co keep guys like Cross and YO around? That’s my biggest question with these two. These guys are great pieces on a really good team as juniors and seniors.1 point -

if reports are true, Bello's hadn't shown up for practice (also being reported as support for Pitts). will be interesting to see if Whalen can put the crumbling pieces back together. Bello's brother sent out a tweet stating something like you can't discipline a child you don't know. one of the Bello girls retweeted it. sounds like a hot mess right now.1 point -
Too many TO's and our bigs let the Rutgers physicality intimidate them. 17 TOs way too big of a number and our starting bigs did not see the charity stripe once. That being said, save the last 30sec of the 2nd and the entire third quarter, we played as well as I could have hoped for.1 point

I don't understand the complete abandonment of Green. I admit I know very little compared to Coach but it still seems odd. If this lack of playing time continues I don't expect to see him on the roster next season. Perhaps that is what the staff is doing in order to get a better player? I'm always interested in roster upgrades.1 point -
To be fair, I dont know many current JR/SR in high school that would fair much better. And the ones that would, wont be coming to Nebraska any time soon and will also only be in college for a year. The lumps he is taking this year will do wonders for him the next three years.1 point

Watched a few of Lat’s JUCO games. Love how the kid plays. He’s very under control and his points are extremely efficient. He takes open shots (and makes them), runs the court and moves without the ball extremely well, always tries to rebound, has a very quick first step, and is a generally unselfish player. I think he has a little bit of work to do with his perimeter defense when guarding smaller guards on switches, but he’s very adequate guarding the 3 or 4. I think he’ll split minutes with Cross at the 4. Cross is a better 1o1 and post player. Lat is a much better shooter from deep and at the line. They will compliment each other well and may actually be able to play at the same time in some scenarios. Love the pickup. Cam Banton - Burke Allen - Thor Lat - Cross Stevenson - Walker/Yvan My guess right now...1 point -

I'm just enjoying this ride. Still 2-3 in conference with a lot of games left. It's hard to win on the road in the big ten. Only 5 teams have done that so far. Kinda expected it One thing stood out to me though. Cam was in a serious funk in the 1st half, and the offense struggled because of it. When he's not playing well, the offense struggles. Gonna be a roller coaster guys. Buckle in.1 point -

To waste a little more time before the day unfolds, I will list my top 5 war movies to see if 1917 measures up: 1. Saving Private Ryan-enough said. 2. Das Boot-best seen with subtitles 3. Apocalypse Now- the horror, the horror...(an applicable phrase for many NU games I have seen) 4. Battleground- this movie about the Battle of the Bulge, King Kong, and Trader Horn were the only three movies my dad ever recommended I see 5. From Here to Eternity- although not a true "war movie" I couldn't leave a movie with Burt Lancaster and Ernie Borgnine off the list.1 point

I will NEVER forget Sek's senior night. Toward the end of the game there were two guys mid way up in the crowd along a baseline holding up a big sign: _________________________________ | | | THANKS SEK... | | | | | | | | | | ... for nothing | | | |________________________________ | I laughed pretty hard... but come on guys, he gets it enough from Doc - he doesn't need to get it from the crowd too!1 point -
This particular board has historically tried to take the high road regarding players.....going back to my mentor...so to speak....the Row 6 Seat 10 days. I have stayed here in large part because of this. Guess it's been learned with experience reading all the many posts here, and on other forums. Just don't want to be part of the game of hiding behind a screen an saying stuff a person would never say face to face. Sure, have become frustrated now and then when the team doesn't have their best day on the court, or circumstances can become ugly like in the Connie exit days. No one's blind to the fact a particular player messes up, or doesn't have the skills hoped for.....the player knows it as well as teammates and fans. I'll leave it to the Coach to work with an issue...their paid to do it, and hopefully the Coach will do it with the players dignity left intact. Have said it before, any given player always has my respect for getting out on the court in front of thousands and tries as hard as they can. They don't try to throw a bad pass, or miss a shot. All I will ever ask is that they try their best, while being a good representative of NU.1 point
