I really don't buy this. Creighton is easily the most brought up team on this board. The switching of conferences essentially killed all rivalries prior to 2012. If these guys aren't our rival, then no one is our rival.

  2. grossbus: Wow, there sure are some nasty people out there. It's fine to disagree with a coach's decision, but to call her "trash", etc? The internet has given rise to a bunch of hate filled bullies hiding behind their keyboards. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

  3. I think we are going to have to stop calling them "free" throws because they are way too costly.

  4. Define "lost cause" if you mean this season isn't lost already. I have seen the future (Jan, Feb, March):

You're selling us short. They appear to be similar to us in a lot of ways and we've proven several times this year we are capable of beating ourselves. Also

  11. greedy aren't they...... McCallie in 12 seasons has led her teams to seven Sweet 16's, and 4 Elite 8's. Pretty good record, but not good enough apparently, in Duke town

  13. You've gotta be kidding me - Jervay Green shot 53% from the line in juco? Wow. It is completely unacceptable for a college basketball player at the guard position to be shooting anywhere below 65%, let alone 55%.

  14. If I'm coaching against the Huskers, I pack the paint, let them hoist 3s and hack literally everyone on the drive/backcut. On offense I encourage my players to take early shots, regardless of quality and count on loose ball/oreb chances in the scrum.

  15. Yeah, but we didn't exactly play smart at the end. BUT IT IS A WIN BABY!!!!!! Kissinger shot duke out of the zone that they were playing. Guess Kissinger has the rust knocked off.

    Lineups

Found an interesting tool at https://hoop-explorer.com/ Here is a full explanation - https://hoop-explorer.blogspot.com/2019/11/fun-with-college-basketball-onoff.html There are two tools. One is a tool that breaks down all lineups and how they performed. The other tool allows you to see what a lineup looks like based on one guy being in or out. Our most obvious platoon is Yvan and Cross. If you think that Yvan is better for our defense and Cross is better for our offense, this very much backs that up. Our two most used lineups are Mack/Burke, Cheatham, Green, and then either Yvan or Cross. The top numbers for each row is offense and the bottom defense. When Yvan is in the game our scoring inside the arc seems to take a big hit. Yvan is shooting 45% which isn't great but is better than the team average. It's probable at times he clogs the lane. We don't seem to be getting to the line as much, not exactly sure why. Defensively, we're defending the rim significantly better. When Cross is the game we're actually shooting worse from 3 and part of that is due to KC shooting poorly from 3 and perhaps having the 3pt line clogged with defenders. We are shooting quite well from 2 which also is partially due to Cross converting at a high % inside the arc and it being open if his defender is dragged to the 3pt line. Perhaps we get more transition offense with Cross in the game. We're also getting to the FT line at a higher clip. Defensively it appears that we're getting killed inside with Cross in the game which most would probably agree on. It's probable having to help down because of Cross causes us to pick up more fouls than with Yvan. Not sure of the biggest factor not represented here, namely the matchups used by the other team to counter the difference between YO and KC.

Creighton fans are just bummed because their football team is not bowl eligible for the third year in a row. But yeah, it's probably just you. ...and me too, but that's largely because I'm pretty checked out on the whole deal. I have given some thought to picking up a ticket to the Kansas/Colorado game, that one would probably be worlds more entertaining even though I violently hate both teams.

  23. It's all been said already in this thread probably..... Just see the Duke game as a big big win. Has to be a big boost in the teams confidence. Great team win that the coaches and players deserve. It's been a tough road the last year or so, and they've worked hard to get better. This is a different team this year...it's coming together. The teams growth, maturity, and finally an experienced squad, has helped develop us into a very competitive team. They've developed an attitude...a attitude that they can win, and are prepared to get it done. You can just see a different team personality, compared to last year...well really there's not a lot similar for the most part. The seniors are playing like leaders...and we can depend on their "bringing it".... Nicea and Hannah...great stuff. Cain may have broken out....now gets the college game and her role. Kissenger may have healed and is again the killer 3 girl. The sophomores have really become a core element of our team...their want to compete. ...and they can score. Issy is an exceptional freshman. She has a maturity for the game that many don't reach until their Junior year...and she's just getting started'. Mentally and physically strong. OK, I'm a homer...but just really like what this team has become. .

  26. Two things about that 1. We tend to ping pong. We'll probably play better because we played poorly this game. 2. We struggle against good defenses that won't give us easy buckets. That's not what the Jays do

  31. I was going to mention that one thing that struck me watching the Creighton game was the seemingly unexpected degree of success by Kate Cain, and others in making their mid-range or Jumper shots!

  32. I saw elsewhere where someone said about Hannah: I know what they mean! We owe a Great Debt of Gratitude to this Entire Class of Seniors; Hannah Whitish, Nicea Eliely and Grace Mitchell. This was the class that was released from their commitments after Connie Yori was replaced by Amy Williams and these three recruits in that class re-affirmed their commitments to Nebraska. They have been the nucleus of the resurgence of Lady Husker BB following the coaching change and proved to be the vanguard of our present team. We would not have had nearly the success we have experienced over the past three years, or our currently bright prospects for the future had they Not become Huskers!

It takes the fun out of "Hate Creighton" week when you feel like you have no shot to win. This will be the best team we've played all year so far and as much as I hate CU, I'll be shocked if we don't get beat by 25+ We can't defend, we can't shoot 3's, we can't shoot free throws, we can't rebound. We don't have any aspect of our game that we do well. Based on that, it could be a blood path on Saturday as well as our next 2 games against Indiana and Purdue.

  40. Perplexed how our free throw shooting is so bad. Surely it couldn’t have all been that bad individually for the players struggling. (Before they arrived here) Goodness, at least get one of two. Too many 0-2’s and we couldn’t chip into their lead...must be all mental

  45. We've made 8 three's...will beat about any team....can we keep up the shooting? That was the best half we've had in a couple of years Duke has a squad full of excellent shooters. We will have to match them shot for shot (we have so far), and cut down on our turnovers...and rely on them to turn the ball over. Don't foul them...they can shoot FT's

  46. i don't think i have seen a team shoot 61.3% in a half and end up behind. going to be an interesting 2nd half. i think huskers are going to have to shut down duke's offense somewhat in the second half if they are to pull this one out.

  47. Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-3) at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (3-2) Date: Wednesday Dec 4th, 2019 Time: 6:15 p.m. Arena: McCamish Pavilion (8,600, 122nd largest in D-I) Broadcast: ESPNU (Streaming link) Georgia Tech Head Coach: Josh Pastner Location: Atlanta, Georgia Conference: ACC Nickname: Yellow Jackets Mascot: Buzz and Ramblin' Wreck KenPom rank: 72 Previous history: Georgia Tech leads the all-time series 1-0. Nebraska lost their only matchup back in 1983 to Bobby Cremins and a GT squad with John Salley and Mark Price Offensive Style: Give the ball to Michael Devoe Defensive Style: Continuous rotation of man, 1-3-1, and 2-3 zone as the situation dictates Rotation Size: 7-8 Line: Gerogia Tech by 8.5 Key Injuries: Starting point guard Jose Alverado is expected to miss this game with an ankle injury Hoiberg Presser Cheatham Presser Players to watch: Michael Devoe The sophomore SG has been dynamite to start the season, currently leading the ACC in scoring at 23.4 points per game. While he hasn't taken a ton of 3s, he's been hitting them at an unsustainable 65% clip. Expect Devoe to continuously slash to the hole and Nebraska having a hard time stopping him. Players to watch: James Banks The 6'10" 250 lb senior center is blocking everything, averaging a ridiculous 5 blocks per game and unlike a lot of big men his size he's not going to come off the court for breathers or foul trouble. Nebraska will have to pick and choose their moments to attack the rim. Roster points PG SG SF PF C Pct 1 0 Michael Devoe 6-5 193 So 11 Bubba Parham 5-10 160 Jr 12 Khalid Moore 6-7 203 So 5 Moses Wright 6-9 230 Jr 1 James Banks 6-10 250 Sr 25.1 With Alvardao out this game and USC transfer Jordan Usher not eligible until mid-semester, GT plays only 7-8 guys and as you can see, often times that will involve two players over 6'9" and 230#. In addition to Banks and Devoe we have VMI transfer Bubba Parham who was a dynamic 3pt shooter who hasn't yet gotten on track at GT Moses Wright is the rebounding complement to Banks. Highly efficient inside post scorer Khalid Moore is a slasher on offense 6'10" 225# Evan Cole is the backup 4/5 and an above average defender 6'5" freshman guard Asanti Price is a backup guard who can stroke from outside but hasn't made many of them yet (2-14) The Skinny: I'm on the fence about this being a good or poor matchup for Nebraska. On the good side, I think this is a team Nebraska can get to run with them and can generate points in transition or via turnover. Tech wants to drive inside and Nebraska has been effective at defending without fouling. Tech isn't a team that hunts for offensive rebounds. On the poor side, Tech has two post players with the potential to dominate this poor rebounding Nebraska squad. When Nebraska isn't in transition, which is the majority of the time, the Huskers and their poor half court offense will face off against a stingy rotating defensive team. If Nebraska isn't hitting 3s tonight, this could get UGLY. Beating Georgia Tech isn't a lost cause as an Arkansas team with no height to speak of came in and knocked off the Yellow Jackets at home on a night where both teams had trouble scoring. More than likely though we're looking at GT clamping down defensively at points to go on runs that the Huskers will hope they can counter. The Huskers have been a roller coaster this year and it's probably one of the low points tonight in their first true road game. Prediction: Georgia Tech 83- Nebraska 68 View full article
