It's hard to believe that we're already a month into college basketball season. Creighton's football season is now officially over and the blue sweaters are starting to come out in full bloom. And it's December, which means the NCAA volleyball tournament is starting and Big Ten basketball is about to start way too soon. We survived the Cayman Islands Classic with only one blunder on the scorecard and now the team is heading back to the winter wonderland. Maryland must have great guard play.

I watched both games (camera angles were questionable but I managed even though I was never sure if a shot was made or not since the basket was outside of the camera range on close ups). I felt like our second unit played together better than our first unit in both games. I also want to mention that I am very happy with Grace this season - she’s not getting a ton of minutes but when she’s in the game she makes something happen whether that be a bucket, free throws, tie up, rebound, or even disrupting a pass. She seems to be “on” the second she walks on the court and stays “on” until she’s subbed. My impression is that is what coach wants from everyone since she does have a lot of depth. Give it 110% while you are out there because nobody has to play 30 minutes each game. I really really wish we would stop the insanely dumb passes but I don’t have much hope since I’ve been seeing the same thing for a few years. I was reading a WBB message board this morning and a third party who watched the game described it as “unwatchable”, “sloppy”, and didn’t have much good to say about NU, although they did say maybe we could be a bubble team. I can honestly say that because of the turnovers and inconsistent play (we have scoring droughts in most games), I have found it hard to watch sometimes. I do like that coach is building depth - but we need consistency, athleticism, and a killer instinct. The latter is something I don’t feel the team has yet, at least not every game.

Just to wrap a bow on this season: There are 79 bowl eligible teams for 78 spots. Nebraska was 2nd in line based on APR, behind 5-7 Duke for a bowl.

A buddy of mine went out to Manny’s Steak House in Mpls last night with Tim after the DePaul/Gopher game. Said Tim is doing great, loves the new job, & is just biding his time until he finds the right opportunity to return to Coaching.

Why? Because the 2019 season is over. Now it is time to set unfair and/or unreasonable expectations for this coming season.

The silver lining to this, next year's team has legitimate size. Yvan & Walker are both big ten bodies at center. You have 3 different guys to lineup at the 4 with Cross, Stevenson, and banton. And a wild card in Arop who could show by next year he's ready to go. Or you go banton at the 3rd guard with Cross or Stevenson at the 4. I'm excited about next year's team
