I’ve heard the level of competition compared to a High School All-Star team, a Club team (smokers allowed) & a Creighton team under Willis Reed...

This is good for us. I know its nice to win by 30... but this is good for games that actually matter.

Cheatham and Kavas are the only two players who have started in all 3 games.

  6. OK, Maybe it's time to start a dedicated thread here! (since no one else seems to want to do it! ) Reportedly offered per LJS article! EDIT: Since I'm the OP I can edit the title and will update it as more information comes available. Also a Belated Thanks to 'eagle-eye' @whoopdeedoo who first spotted this in the LJS! https://journalstar.com/sports/high-school/basketball/girls/fremont-s-mccabe-st-francis-weidner-pick-up-offers-from/article_d0b6c82a-fc57-5a4e-99f0-ae1f38c4aadb.html

  7. Mack/Curtis Green/Burke Cheatham Kavas/Thor/Cross Stevenson/Cross/Ouedraogo Spark plug (and I mean it): Easley I'm not convinced Yvan gets Cross' freshman minutes based on Hoiberg's system. I like Yvan, but I'm not sold on him as a shoe in contributor yet. It's nice to have offense coming off the bench, and there are going to be nights where our bench outplays our starters on that end of the court. I love Curtis. Hell of a freshman talent. Steal of the class.

OK, so probably 5 of the guys in the scoring column this trip won't see meaningful minutes when stuff gets real. Obviously, Dalano Banton will be one of those guys NOT getting minutes (due to transfer rules). Do Kevin and Yvan both make the rotation? I'd say you put Cam Mack somewhere near the top of the list and the first 8 guys outside of Banton are probably the rotation and possibly in that order. So, in other words, you'd have Mack somewhere. And then Burke, Cheatham, Green, Curtis, Kavas, Stevenson, and either Cross (which seems likely) or Ouedraogo. And if he goes 9 deep, then you have both Cross and Ouedraogo instead of just one or the other.

  14. This seems akin to Bakari Evelyn reminding one of Walt Pitchford as both went to high school in Michigan and were Div 1 transfers.

Kavas and Cheatham, besides the skill sets they bring, are the two grad transfers. Grad transfers don't come to schools they think there is any possibility they sit the bench. So you are only going to bring in people you know will play for you and if it's close you give them the start. If that doesn't happen then you are going to have a more difficult time bringing in any more grad transfers in the future.

I was really excited to see Akol. I could definitely see this trip holding him back as I think he is lower on most peoples rotation and definitely could have used the experience.

So I think we can pencil in Kavas and cheatham at this point. Burke in my opinion also. Overall depth has been big this trip, and we're missing two "supposed" starters and akol. Akol I'm still intrigued by for defensive purposes but so far so good

  28. I am insanely excited for this season to begin. QB: Adrian Martinez need i say more; looks to have great depth behind him also RB: Dedrick Mills and Maurice Washington would be quiet the 1-2 punch. But Mo has his off the field issues. Not sure how I feel about the options behind him quite yet WR: JD Speilman and a whole lotta unproven guys. As with RB theres alot of bodies but we need play makers to step up. It was no coincidence they went out and got a grad transfer receiver OL: Tackles seem set; still waiting for the interior linemen to starters to emerge DL: Lots of bodies and lots of talent. This could be a 7-8 man deep line we roll out this year LB: Solid starters inside and reasons to be optimistic outside. However, not a lot of depth and a lot of youth isnt usually a good recipe DB: A great mix of returning experience and young incoming talent. Should be a position of strength K/P: Kicking is gonna be a strength. If a drive stalls inside the 30 (hopefully not too many) Pickering will get us three points. Punting is TBD, Isaac Armstrong was solid in replacing Lightbourne midseason

Heres what i got STARTERS Samari Curtis 8 points Haanif Cheatham 20 points Shamiel Stevenson 6 pts Matej Kavas 9 points, three 3pt FGs Kevin Cross 2 points BENCH Jervay Green 6 points Dachon Burke 20 points Thorir Thorbjarnarson 5 points Dalano Banton 4 points Charlie Easley 3 points - We played 12 players (im assuming same 12 as last game); 10 of which scored - Starters were sluggish with poor switching and communication on D to start; second unit (Green, Burke, Banton, and Thor mentioned specifically) helped ignite the team in the first quarter - Team hit a total of ten 3's
