Well if that does happen, you might see a half full CHI arena since “Everyone’s” favorite football team will be in Indy!

We begin practice for our summer workouts on Saturday. With the trip to Italy we get 10 extra practices. Hopefully with the excitement of the new hire, the team will get some extra coverage over the summer. I thought we could make a thread to keep all the coverage and discussion of the team leading up to and during the trip all in one place. We know that Yvan Ouedraogo wont be with the team during the trip. I believe Derrick Walker and Dalano Banton will not play during the trip even if they are eligible. It makes no sense for them to play since they arent eligible for this upcoming season anyway. That leaves us with 10 scholarship players (Cheatham, Kavas, Burke, Green, Thorbjarnarson, Mack, Stevenson, Arop, Cross, and Curtis) and 3 walkons (Porter, Easley, and Piatkowski) available for the four or five games.

Im going out on a limb and guessing Akol is in Lincoln too.

Jervay, Walker and Cross are in Lincoln and have been participating in workouts all week. As of yesterday, Stevenson, Banton and Mack weren't in Lincoln yet. Update: You're correct @khoock, Banton is on campus

They streamed them on twitter last time. They could do that again. On periscope, perhaps. And Shamus will almost certainly do some sort of post game wrapup. I don't exactly expect Italian news to be covering these.

With budget cuts in the print media industry, there is no chance in Creighton either one of them send a writer to Italy. We'll have to depend on wire service reports.

Recruiting class of 2021 is important. They can sign beginning November 2020. Would be really nice to show them some success in the first season.

Rivals currently only has a top 100 for 2021 right now. CH currently is not on the list.

We haven't even had a preseason trip to Italy and we're talking about the bubble? We've got a clean sheet of players on the roster and I'm just hopeful we can see the group of guys get along and start the beginning of the Hoiberg era off on the right foot.

With 11 noncom and 20 conference games, 9-2 and 10-10 would put us at least on the bubble before the conference tourney. At this time of the year, there is no reason to not believe this is possible. Why go through the summer with a glass half empty? It's going to get hot and we will need the hydration.

This is about all I can tell you and it was part of the press release that Doane sent out “The game will mark the first for new Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg on the Huskers' sideline. For Doane coach Ian McKeithen, he will see a familiar face on the court as he worked with Hoiberg previously. The two worked together with the Minnesota Timberwolves during 2007-08 when McKeithen was a basketball operations intern and Hoiberg was Assistant General Manager.”

Is anyone else kind of perturbed that the Creighton game is on championship football Saturday (Big Ten Championship, SEC, etc). It's certainly possible that Nebraska wins the West and is playing in that game (less than 50%, I know). That'd suck from a conflict standpoint.

Dimes has a tutorial on this somewhere but I could not find it. I hope this is accurate. If it is Dimes latest tweet will appear I believe the short version is 1) you find the tweet you want 2) click on the time at the top of the tweet 3) the tweet is enlarged and a new address shows up 4) copy and paste the new address in your message content 5) then it will magically appear when you submit your reply.

Sure the quality of teams is primarily because of Hoiberg's first year. But the structure isn't. You don't think the athletic dept needs to have X number of home games? Trust me, they do. If you must have 16-17 home games to make budget, your non-con schedule has very little flexibility. You can't just "roll the dice" when big budgets are involved. Heck, they expected to play 17 home games this season till the league surprised them with a ACC challenge trip to Ga Tech. I'd imagine that screwed up some budget assumptions pretty substantially when you're taking in $500K-$700K per home game just on tickets. And that blue team is a terrible example. That blue team doesn't play two conference challenge games where the league dictates home or away; only one challenge. And that blue team only plays 18 conference games. Gives that blue team much more flexibility. If NU had only 18 conf games and only 1 mandated non-con game, we'd play more home and homes ... like we did when we first joined the B1G. Huge difference between 19 conference mandated games and 21-22 conference mandated games when you need to have X number of home games. It's no coincidence we haven't announced a new home and home since the B1G went to 20 conference games. I'd imagine in the future, once Hoiberg's teams are established, we'll upgrade the schedule by either ditching the in-season tournament for a couple of years to play a couple of home and homes or a couple of TV-mandated neutral site games, or try to play in an in-season tournament that has a higher level of opponents. Or we may have to ask to have the game with that blue team count as a Gavitt Game in the future to provide a bit more wiggle room in the schedule. But home and homes like Kansas are going to be rare with 20 conference games and an in-season tournament on the schedule.

Totally fine with this schedule. So many new faces and roles to sort out. With the trip to Italy and this type of non-con, we should have a lot of things figured out in time for the Big Ten play.

I disagree. This is solely because this is Hoiberg's first year. The non con slate will get better with time. This is definitely not the norm. And when it comes to home-and-homes sometimes you just gotta roll the dice and bite the bullet if it means two or three true away games. Just because Creighton is the closest comparison they recently had the home-and-homes with Oklahoma and Gonzaga, and another with Arizona State coming up. All 3 they had to go on the road to first.

I will be excited to watch every single one of those non con games, tbh. Shiny new coach and team, etc.
