  1. 247 has Cross as a ZERO-star. What?? They have Cam Mack as our second-lowest-rated commit (not counting transfers). That's rated below (in order) Yvan, Samari, Jervay, and Akol. Double-what?? He might be our best player. And yet, we still ended up with the 42nd-ranked class. That's not shabby. Now if only they had spent some time and truly evaluated Cross and Mack (and ranked them appropriately), we'd probably be mid-30s. Which would be outstanding for a first class, put together in a month. As I asked at the close of the Spring Signing Period... if this is what we get in a super-abbreviated year one... WTF is the ceiling?

  3. If you are "pretty sure what we will see will be great", you already have on your rose-colored glasses. You just need to either drink the kool-aid, get a beer and nyquil chaser (@ Conley's?) or sing a few verses of Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.

  4. Agree - there is some crazy potential on this roster. Even more importantly, it's obvious that these coaches believe in these guys. From everything they've said, it's pretty clear they weren't just filling scholarships to get to 14 (then 13). They really believe in all of these guys. From the article, Abdelmassih had scouted a lot of these guys previously while at St John's, and Doc had been looking at Cross. Abdelmassih had even seen Yvan at a tournament. Sure, the coaches are going to tell us every one of these guys is great. That's expected. But the detail in this article and in other comments they've made tells me they aren't just giving lip service. These are the guys they want. They certainly don't have to offer the details they have on these players, unless they actually believe it. Now, it's a matter of meshing all of them together to create a cohesive team - no small challenge. These Italy practices and subsequent trip couldn't have come at a better time.

  5. I think our freshmen are crazy underrated. Cross could be the steal of the group. Those two bigs have a lot of potential.

    Lauren Ware

ok, take a deep breath----no recruiting news, yet. ? just got a bit of a chuckle when i searched Ware on prospectsnation. main page has her listed from north dakota, but, when you "click" on her name, bio shows she is from "Bismark, Netherlands" ?

  11. It has been a weird few months for me. I have sat back and I am just taking "all of it" in. It has been a whirlwind, and it is easy to understand the robust positive vibe. I am willing to take a wait and see approach. I want to see the players, the coaches strategy, the overall product and the results. It is hard when you are seeing a complete new product on the court. With the exception of Thor, we do not know how the players or the staff will react to basketball at this level. Is that good or bad? So although I am pretty sure what we will see will be great, I cannot and will not put on my rose-colored glasses just quite yet.

  12. Couldn’t agree more, plus let’s not forget we snuck in Ohio’s “Mr Basketball” under the wire & I believe Chuck Easley is going to be more than just a bit player.

  13. Florida State gets the win over #13 LSU in Game 1. That now makes all 3 remaining "Last Four In" teams winning Game 1 in the Supers. FSU's coach, Martin, just got his 40th win of the season. That's 40 straight years of 40+ wins.

  14. Has to be Childress. I would guess Moos is making Childress say no before going down any other avenues. Childress probably will take Nebraska offer back to his AD, and from the sounds of it I highly doubt A&M offers any sort of extension. Childress has two options really, stay at A&M and hope next years team can make a super/CWS run and get an extension (otherwise get the boot) or come back to Nebraska with a long contract and lots of security.

  16. I really think he’s going to be a factor for us earlier than later. I am glad Fred agreed with my assessment he is similar to Niang. ? I would not be surprised if he got similar minutes to what Georges received at ISU as a freshmen. He may benefit from our lack of experienced front court depth. Talent + opportunity = a chance for a special season for Kevin. One could argue Ivan Drago could fit this narrative as well. I love his upside but I see the word raw connected with his name so I suspect Kevin will be the bigger factor early on.

  17. It was probably a tougher decision than when he didn't know Hoiberg at all and disliked that Miles was fired. I'd say the sentiment and loyalty still made it more likely that he comes back to play for Miles but we're arguing about getting hit by lightning vs winning the powerball odds here.

  18. Samari got his "Ohio Mr Basketball" award (a massive plaque that will hang in his HS gym with other title banners) yesterday. With his quick and covert recruitment, there wasn't a single video of him posted in his two threads on HHC. This first one is an interview where he talks about his favorite player being Steph Curry, and how he prefers playing the point. The second video is from a game he went for 44, and showed glimpses of his "in the gym" range. Also, in the second video, watch for the crushing screen, set by Andre Almieda's son, at the 1:43 mark.
