    A sincere apology

This is by far the best time for Husker Basketball there has ever been. Yet upon reflection, I've been a dick on this board to people who don't deserve it. No excuses. Just wanted to apologize to people who I consider family. Except Massengill, from the filling out the staff thread. Everyone have a fabulous weekend and a Blessed Easter!

Wait a minute... The message board hasn't been super good? Or the basketball team?

Never thought of that. Now, please excuse me. I have to tell the little woman to get her rear end back in the kitchen, get dinner started and fetch me a beer.

Just so there's no confusion, the guy pictured on the left is NOT me. (Could be Silver, though.)

  21. Doc had zero winning conference seasons. Miles had two. That written, I'm excited to see what Doc can do for us an the primary defensive assistant. It seems to be a perfect fit for a great guy who's passionate about Nebraska basketball.

  28. I will never, ever forget attending practices with Doc at the helm. Mercy! With Doc, unless you defended with your heart and soul and every fiber of your being, you did not earn the right to shoot the ball on offense. Still makes me chuckle.

  29. To be fair, the reason the comparison came to light (and was mentioned on the Ticket and on BTN) was because a teammate, Damion Daniels, was asked if any Big 12 players reminded him of Adrian. He mentioned Mahomes. Also, note that as good as Mahomes is, he did not win big in college due to lack of difference makers and defense surrounding Mahomes. Hopefully we will surround Adrian with the talent that allows him to break out and be great.

  30. I'm too lazy to look, when is our Italian trip? I anticipate roster activity until then, or shortly before then. This is going to be a wild and exciting ride to next season.

  32. Wow! That’s a step down. Here are the UMass results from 2018-19: 11 wins against 22 losses overall and 4 wins against 14 losses in conference.

  33. This board is my Husker family! Sure we fight and argue sometimes. All families do. But by God, when there’s 45 seconds left on the clock and we’re down almost 10 to Iowa, we all stick together to beat those losers! I’d sit down for a beer and talk Husker basketball with any of you guys if I could.

  39. It would be interesting had Miles been at Nebraska during Doc's timeline and Doc during Mile's timeline. I do believe you would be saying that Doc could recruit circles around Tim.....I think we are underestimating the challenges that Doc was facing in terms of facilities and the transitioning to the big ten. I think Doc was devastated when he was let go, because he saw the opportunity with his coaching ability to be able to start attracting better talent.

  43. I think what Miles group was able to do during the Big Ten tournament and the NIT was reminiscent to Doc's teams of the past. Outgunned, outmuscled, limited bench still found a way to go out with max effort... Need a way to merge that higher skill and athleticism with max effort to be successful here. It's like we had one or the other here for the last 7 years... 2014 and 2018 were magical years where they came together... 2015 and 2019... crashing short of expectations. Doc's teams seemed to have the effort but not the higher end athleticism and skill... Tim's... higher skill and athleticism but at times the effort was inconsistent. Hopefully this is what we see with Fred's coaching staff an ability to merge the two... and hopefully adding Doc helps get to that level.

  44. Doc could coach circles around Tim, and Tim could recruit circles around Doc. Both weaknesses did them in as HC here. Can you imagine how good we would be if Tim was on this staff and all he had to do was recruit? Yikes. That's how big of a deal it is to get Doc, though. He had a few memorable games during his tenure where he rolled out some mindblowing gameplans. And... this is huge and probably a big reason why he's so loved... his teams NEVER got outworked on the court despite their deficiencies in talent. Ever. It's really about the best staff I could possibly imagine coaching here.
