    Roster Attrition

Share an opinion, please. And in all honesty, your NIT statement was written in such a vague manner that I couldn't even tell whether you were talking about Miles or Allen. So it was an actual question not a slam on your opinion. I admit I might be the obtuse one concerning that particular topic. But you are talking about hypotheticals as if they were fact. And maybe you did and do have inside information. I take the basketball department's word when they say he wasn't healthy enough to play. I do know high ankle sprains can take longer than broken bones to heal. And the "something about the way he handles business must make guys to leave" comment is also a slam whether you start with "I like Tim" or not. If it is something about the way he handles business then it is a reflection on Tim both as a person and a coach. I Googled "college basketball transfers" and the number I got was more than 475 players have transferred since the start of this season. That doesn't sound like a Tim Miles thing to me. You say "I like Tim" then go with the "rather sad" comment. You use conjecture and hypotheticals as if they are facts as grounds to insult Tim Miles and then get defensive when I called you on it. Implying that I said you weren't allowed to express an opinion is the definition of a strawman argument. I never said you shouldn't hold that opinion but stop playing the victim and own it. My opinion is the man is gone, stop kicking. I am rooting for Nebraska basketball whoever is sitting on the bench.

  4. The video is an ad for the machine. It talks about the shot in very vague terms that your junior high basketball coach should know. I've seen practices conducted by every coach we have had back to Nee and have attended several of their coaching clinics. Every one of them broke down and taught the jump shot in greater detail than what was shown in that video and I'm positive the Hoiberg will as well when he holds practices. Every coach has strengths and weaknesses but I don't think you can get to a D-1 coaching job, even at a school devoid of tradition without taking the coaching of fundamentals seriously.

This kind of anonymous source isn't good enough to publicly and ambiguously accuse someone of unspecified wrongdoing--even on an anonymous message board. It's worth a down arrow.

  6. So let's just ignore guards until we find a big guy and then, once the big man box is checked off, then and only then, start looking at guards. Right @KearneyMan?

  7. The OWH had a small article on Palmer and Watson in this morning's paper. It was one of six stories on Husker basketball. There were none on Husker football, even though the Spring Game is just a week away. Who'd have ever imagined...

  10. That's just mean. You know full and well that some of the Creighton walkons are getting paid less than that.

  11. CAA wins the $100K over the WCC. Creighton players watching: "They have to split the $100K between 4 of them? Tough deal. That's a serious pay cut from the regular season."

  13. Ran into Robys dad in Rockford last night (I went to hs with him btw) Side note: I also went to highschool with future husker Donovan Williams dad altho we don't talk. We all went to rockford east high in Rockford il I don't really talk to robys dad much anymore but we do know each other. He says he's not sure what his sons decision will be but that Isaiah will be the 1 making the decision. But he did say that if isaiah does stay in the draft he might be signing with priority sports. If that is the case then in my opinion he's really gone. Folks they are a big time agency and rep some big names. Well after a quick Google search I found lol http://www.prioritysports.biz/basketball/nba-draft If they want him I'd imagine others do as well. His dad says he and robys mom have been talking too agents the whole yr that are just trying too establish a relationship hoping they could rep him I asked how many he said over 5 easy and its been since the end of last yr. Hell there was atleast 6 talking too his family after every game for the big tourney I saw. Sent from my LGL84VL using Tapatalk

  14. Big 10 just lost to the MAC 21-19. Led most of the game but gave it away at the end. I don't think these teams have a "coach" but if they do the Big 10 one was an idiot. Happ was BY FAR the weakest player in this format and he was on the floor all but about 30 seconds. Other 3 rotated regularly. Pretty sure Watson was the high scorer. Murphy did well on offense but was lazy on defense. Happ was ridiculously inept both ways. Could not score and just got abused trying to guard guys away from the basket. Final bucket was the MAC spreading out and just let Happ's guy drive past him and beat him to the basket. If they would have just played the other 3 guys the Big 10 team would have won easily.

  15. You beat me to it, Dean... "Thomas Allen is transferring" is a fact. "It is possible NC State reached out to Thomas before Fred Hoiberg was hired" is a fact. "Thomas would have transferred regardless of who the coach is" is speculation, not fact, and his NIT playing time is irrelevant. Like Dean said, ankle sprains can be monsters to come back from, and his wasn't healed enough that playing him on it, in the circumstances under which the team was playing, was worth the risk of hindering his progress or potentially re-injuring it. Sometimes tea leaves can be read, and sometimes they're just what's left in the bottom of your cup. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  16. Just don’t want to drag our own asst coach, with no known violations or even rumored violations (from credible sources) through the mud the 1st week of his tenure. If I see something from someone credible I’ll change my tune, but his entire time at ISU and SJU has been clean on the surface, which is encouraging since a ton of asst coaches got caught up in the Most recent scandal.

  17. We need players period. Losing 5 starters and one bench guy (that we know of, Nana is still gone in my eyes). We need players. Bigs will come. Give it time. This is a good start

    Thomas Allen is NOT N

Tom is a pretty good player, but Hoibergs offense at Iowa State did not have many small guards. With the exeception of an all American point guard in Monte Morris Fred likes length that can shoot. Not that he wouldn’t have taken Thomas, but we won’t see a lot of guards that look like him going forward.

Yes, some may not realize that Graham was a real person who had only one at bat in the majors and later became a medical doctor. He didn't resemble Burt Lancaster though, having more of a "pencil-necked' appearance. And for those who are curious, my favorite Burt Lancaster roles in addition to Moonlight were Sgt. Warden in "From Here to Eternity" and the title role in "Elmer Gantry". (To my knowledge he never had a hidden connection to Nebraska sports, however, like Bruce Dern).

  24. Thank you for sharing. What doesn't surprise me in the least is that only one person will make the final decision --- Isaiah. He will listen, weigh the information and make the right decision for him.

That certainly would be nice...but won't get the hopes too far up. Would obviously be a "huge" add to the team. :)

  26. FIFY. He didn't even start for Iowa, but a player like Nicholas Baer would have been helpful. Other than Glynn, no one on the Big Ten squad was a consistent threat from deep.

  27. Ok, but he says they work on shooting technique every day. I know for a fact coaches we’ve had in the past more or less left it up to the players to work on their shots by getting extra reps before or after practice on their own, and didn’t spend time refining technique.

  30. I don’t think posting Thomas was gone regardless who was coach is a shot at Miles. It wasn’t exactly a secret that TA was a bit homesick. Nothing Miles or Hoiberg could do about that.
    1 point
  31. I think you misinterpreted the 'serious' comment--I didn't watch the video (full disclosure). The 'serious' comment is simply in regards to committing to a big-time coach, which would appear to be Fred Hoiberg. And, by all accounts, Hoiberg has been known to have better shooters who have played for him at ISU, in particular. Seems like you may be reading too much into it... obviously, Div. 1 coaches aren't idiots or they wouldn't be Div. 1 coaches.

  32. Agreed. I hope Tom excels at NCST too. If he was home sick then so be it. Really all the guys who have transfered outside of ( AW3 and Jordy ) I have cheered for. And the only one I can argue made the wrong choice would be morrow and that arguement is a stretch at best.

  33. I also kinda wondered if T.A. were actually healthy enough to compete against Butler... especially since Miles had mentioned that Allen would be "ready" by a certain date, which would have been before the end of the season in the N.I.T. Oh well, none of that happened, and T.A. will now be going to N.C. St. after all. On to Freddy, and how his recruitment goes in the next 4+ mo. before school starts in the fall.

  34. Good one. My opinion is he was healthy enough to play in the NIT but had already checked out. Sorry we aren’t aloud the share opinions that others don’t agree with anymore. Don’t think it’s a reflection on Tim as a person or a coach. There’s just something about the way he handles business that must make guys want to leave after being here a couple years or less.
