This is Nebrasketball in a nutshell. We're worried about a coach we haven't officially hired yet for a job that isn't officially open yet spurning us for another job that isn't open yet, because that coach may leave for another job that isn't officially open yet. And somehow, it all makes sense. Nebrasketball. It's not for everyone.

  2. Watching the replay of last night's game and he's excited as anybody about Trueblood's performance. Here's a guy that is personally invested in our school. I certainly don't mean to say other players aren't, but his off-court demeanor speaks volumes even though his career is over. Thanks again, Isaac, and all of our seniors!

  3. The Bill Moos hate on this board is so strange to me. So the guy gets hired in October 2017. Clearly his focus was on the football team. Riley was going to get fired. Moos in statements said that he would "wait till the season was over to evaluate the football program." While this was happening he worked behind the scenes to secure Frost. The Saturday after the season finale he fires Riley. Meanwhile in the basketball they come out of nowhere and finish with one of the best win totals in school history (poor schedule) and still don't make the NCAA tournament. Moos makes his expectations clear to Miles. This year was suppose to be Miles best team (despite poor roster management) but they implode after Copeland injury. After the regular season Moos puts out a statement that he will evaluate the basketball program after the season. Similar to Frost he has been working behind the scenes to secure Hoiberg. Once the NIT is over, Miles will be fired the next day. Sorry for the Oral History, but I just don't get the outrage. His expectations have been clear to Miles. If a guy is consistent with his not commenting on job status till the season is complete, what do you want him to do? If he's not making public statements or support about one program, why another?

I'm sure doathlon would be interested. He'll be the one in TCU gear.

  8. I’ve read they’re bringing in Jim Tressel as the head coach, Hoiberg will be his OC, Doc his DC, and Miles will actually be staying on as a donor/booster relations. Don’t quote me. Just passing along from my rock solid sources.

seriously, you'd try to bankrupt a disabled vet? ;) Why do you hate America? yeah, that was pretty cold matching up two B1G teams this early. I bet if the ACC had 8 teams they'd have been kept apart until the 16.

I know the end of Miles era is bitter sweet for everyone, but as I watch the NCAA tournament, I realize why it is time to make the move. I want to make sure I credit Miles, because I feel like he is a huge part of the reason why it's time to move into the next stage, he brought us from the basement to the door step. I'm watching Syracuse, Minnesota, Baylor, Seton Hall, Louisville, LSU, Maryland - Some having decent seasons per their standards, some of them have fans who want their coaches fired, despite where they find themselves on the 1st day of the NCAAs. It makes me believe, every 2-3 years, when Nebrasketball is at it's best, we should absolutely expect to be where these teams are currently at. We absolutely can be at a place where a 20-12 (9-11) record and a 2nd round exit isn't a ground breaking performance, but maybe even a little disappointing. It's finally time Nebrasketball enters the next stage.

Why exactly would you need to interview someone that you've offered the job to more than Peter denied Christ?

  14. After all the other players had ran into the locker room last night, Cope came back out onto the Court to soak it all in one last time... was a rare moment that speaks to him & the Program writ large.

    Gutless statement from Moos

You clearly do suck as a fan. That has been made abundantly clear the past few days. You don't support our players at all due your own goofy misplaced agenda. So glad U called yourself out. Cheering for us to lose does not equal a Husker fan.

I know Miles loves it here, but you have to wonder at what point him and the staff want to be here with the way things have been handled so far by the administration.

No idea who. The person who told me that said he stopped in Dallas and elsewhere (I can't remember where) on the way. He got that straight from Moos. I heard no other details except Moos said that we'll "know soon enough" what he was up to. None of this is remotely surprising. What would have been surprising is if anyone actually believed he needed more than 48 hours to get from Chicago to Cal's campus. But the possibility of this falling through because the ISU job might come open explains it. Unlike Steve Pedersen, Moos is prepared in case his first choice falls through. We won't be without a coach by this time next month.

  27. Silver I must be a bad person/fan too, because had I been in Lincoln, I would have bought you a drink of choice and gone and sat at the game and cheered with you and 10,000 other bad fans. Oh and yes I loved the win Thursday night.

  28. Had you actually been on here and posted like a true Husker fan 2 months ago, you’d know that HB was one of the most critical of Tim and staff. You can love cheering for the Huskers and want to see positive change for the program. Unfortunately, trolls like you only come out from under the bridge to fan the flames.

Your contention is that Bill Moos decided that last Thursday or Friday, despite having the last year + to do so, was the time to get to know Dana Altman better and that Altman willing and able to carve out a couple of hours in Vegas despite having under 24 hour time frames to prep for Utah or Arizona St. and they did this with no one noticing as there wasn't any sort of whispers. While I"m sure Moos was working as an AD does when mobile doesn't it make a lot more sense that he just went to California to see his kid and that leaving earlier meant that he didn't have to run into Husker fans in Chicago hitting him up about the status of Miles?

  36. The guy came back and wound up having one of the worst kind of years imaginable. What should have been a triumph turned into a disaster (one that he's handling better than I would, I'm sure). I can't say enough good things about Isaac Copeland, but it's why I don't begrudge players for leaving early if they have any shot at a paying gig in their sport.

  40. Nice win and lots of excitement. And in the general area around me there weren't many familiar faces. Some big husker fans and some there to just watch. Was told by guy that sits in section 100 that he got moved to opposite corner because Butler band was going to sit in lower part of that section but they decided not to come. Did have an annoying couple behind me. He coached and analyzed everything and was a real loud talker. The worst part was he would holler shooting advice when Husker were shooting free throws. He'd holler "bend your knees" everytime as JPJ was getting ready to release his ft. And his wife would holler "Go Big Red" or the players name just as they were releasing the shot. I turned and gave them a questionable look during one late in the game and the guy right behind me informed them not to holler while we were shooting them. The woman kind of questioned him but they did stop doing it.

    Good Feelings

Chatter in the other threads got me thinking of a plausible scenario... Let me know what you think here folks Tim Miles is actually best friends with Bill Moos (as has already been suggested), so Moos convinces Hoiberg to keep Miles on as a bench assistant (or at minimum Director of Player Personnel) Doc Sadler left such a good impression that Hoiberg is already making the moves to bring Doc in as a bench assistant (as has already been suggested) Barry Collier is hired as AD in May 2019 after Bill Moos is asked to "retire" by Green and Bounds due to uncouth rumors that rise up again And the Shim-Shams come together for a reunion tour in autumn 2019, but their numbers are low; time has not been kind to some members of the squad. Desperate times call for desperate measures, so they are forced to accept their first male member - Danny Nee Marc Boehm subsequently books them for halftime of all games in the 2019-2020 season, and they lead the victory parade down O street in April 2020. Nebrasketball Nirvana is acheived

    WNIT

My thoughts exactly Bugeaters! For as much as we 'Overachieved' the prior season (21 wins, rebounding from 7 wins the season before that), I think we 'Underachieved' this season with 14 Wins. Some say we need an upgrade in talent And athleticism, But I didn't see much of a lack of either this year; Rather I saw more a lack of Experience, with all four Freshmen starting at one time or another. (That's not to say we should turn down more talented athleticism; that we will be getting in the incoming class of recruits ) BTW, it seems that we are in a streak of a multiple of 7 wins - What's next, 28 Wins!
