  2. I don't think this is going to get you on the coaches that you think should be on Nebraska's list if this trend continues

  3. Matt, you may have been referencing my source. I had heard that we had a real good possibility of landing a big. Further, the source thought he was from outside the US. I couldn't retrieve any other information from that source though. But again, I believe and believed the rumor had legs. I will add one other comment that has been tossed back and forth over the past couple years. Don't think for a second that the unsettled coaching situation has not created recruiting issues. We recently played a team that had a player that once was a lean towards Nebraska. He went another direction due to the rumors surrounding Tim. You cannot let a high division one coach twist in the wind. Doing so creates issues. You either have to commit to a coach or let him/her go.

  4. Fun fact... Our layup lines today will have just 4 people per line. That's a lot of extra practice before the game. Hey... Positives. ?

Ever heard of the College World Series B1G flunkys? Should’ve been here years ago but they had to kiss everyone’s ass on the East coast. Maybe they missed that Duke/Kansas game last spring...

Look Big 10... we get 10K+ for a high school state basketball tournament. You'd have no trouble putting butts in the seats. The only thing they should be worried about is an invasion of red.

"Willing to consider..."? If a venue is a recurring regional site for the NCAA tournament, then it's worthy of consideration for a conference tournament. Sure, look at accessibility for fans to attend. But that's not even a question when attendance has been so poor in their D.C. and NYC experiments.

  17. Morrow and Jacobsen are both going to play in the NCAA Tournament.
    2 points
  18. Related to Miles, but also for the next coach. Shouldn't player retention at Nebraska be more difficult than at other P5 schools? Miles recruited over guys like Morrow and Jacobson with Roby, Palmer, and Copeland. Would have loved to have had Morrow and Jacobson on the bench, but why would guys like that want to stay and be bench players at a program with a history of losing? So they transfer either to lower level schools with guarantees of more playing time or to schools that are more successful. So what's the alternative? Recruit worse players that are satisfied with being relegated to bench roles, but you know they will stay for 4 years?

  19. Watson has his best shooting percentage of his career. Palmer, Petteway, and White were on the end of the bench with their previous teams. 2 out of the 3 ended up being All Conference. Here's a question if Miles is not a very good coach. How many coaches would you trade Miles for in the Big 10? No brainers are Izzo, Behlein, Painter. Probably trading are Gard, Turgeon, and Holtzman About the same are Miller, Fran, and Pikell Not trading him for Pitino, Chambers, Underwood, and Collins. This season really went downhill when Copeland got injured. I know we were struggling a little even with Copeland. But, I feel 2 or 3 wins were doable. Purdue, Ohio State, and maybe Illinois. That gets us 18 or 19 wins, and probably in the tournament. Here are some stats for everyone. With Copeland (against Power 6 teams) : FG % : 44.1 % 3 PT % : 34.6 % FT % : 74.8 % PPG : 72.2 Point margin : 3.6 RPG : 30.0 Reb margin : -5.0 Opp FG % : 42.8 % Opp 3 PT % : 31.7 % Opp FT % : 71.4 % PPG : 68.6 RPG : 35.0 Without Copeland (against Power 6 teams) : FG % : 38.3 % 3 PT % : 31.5 % FT % : 64.3 % PPG : 64.7 Point margin : -10.1 RPG : 33.3 Rebound margin : -5.1 Opp FG % : 45.8 % Opp 3 PT % : 39.3 % Opp FT % : 68.1 % PPG : 74.8 RPG : 38.4 I was probably just overreacting to a lousy season. I think Miles is a good coach. You don't think he is a good coach. I don't think either of us are going to change their mind. I just think our chance of landing a coach I would trade Miles for are slim. Maybe I'm not in the know, and coaches are lining up to take over a historically challenged team.

  22. seriously, we're doing exactly what we have to do with some help from Rutgers and their sloppy passing. but yeah, Zay's killing us in this game. He's had a couple games where he has changed gears in the same game. Not man, but a few. He's going to need to in this game. Get to half just close, preerve those fouls, and then we can pick up the aggression in the 2d. it's the only gameplan we have and it's still in play.

  23. If Roby was alive and well we might be leading! Doing well on the defensive end and staying out of foul trouble...so far!

  27. if only interested in nebraska, i'll save you some time---skip reading the following? stumbled across a stream from minnesota girls basketball state tourney. caught Hopkins with Paige Bueckers (#1 2020 prospect). man, she is smooth. exited a little early with 29pts. can see why she is #1 prospect. of course, coach Whalen was there. they are pretty close, now, whether she chooses minny, who knows. i read where their coach stated she has pretty good idea of her school. just from some things i have read, i think if she doesn't choose uconn, nd, stanford (one of the wbb elites) and chooses to stay in the big ten, it will be minny. Hopkins played Lakeville North and they have a good one in Lauren Jensen---prolific scorer (and, handles the court very well herself). she is a junior also and is chasing Rachel Banham's h.s. 3pt record. minny would be doing just fine if she chooses the goofers and Bueckers goes elsewhere (Jensen is going to announce after state tourney).

  28. On the flip side, when they make the 30 For 30 about our amazing run this week, the asterisk and cherry on top will be when we steal their bid right back.

  29. And to get back on topic, if a kid like this believes the Mountain West is the “highest level” he can achieve as a high school recruit, then that’s where he should be: even if he proves later to deserve something higher—or doesn’t.

  35. Morrows problem was he didn't accept his position. he left thinking he could play the 3 position....What the *&$*.. I put no blame on Miles with Morrow transferring because of this. At some point the kid has to realize his role and his strengths. Morrows was rebounding and defense. He plays the same position at Marquette as he played here so it didn't benefit him much by transferring.

Agreed. Iowa did everything they should have outside of missing 1 free throw out of 8 and not picking us up at half court. Neither of those two are bad though. We just ended up doing everything right to their one or two minor wrongs.

  39. Pissed off that Penn State has made the Hawks an also-ran in wrestling. Fired up about the women's tournament in Carver-Hawkeye. Puzzled at how a Nebraska team with literally six recruited scholarship players could beat Fran. Contemplating how much they really need Patrick McCaffery next year, or if saying goodbye to the whole family might be a good thing. Preparing an "Outback Bowl Champs" banner for Kinnick Stadium

Iowa was 7 of 8 on free throws. The one miss allowed Palmer to drive the lane at the end of regulation to tie it up instead of shooting a three. Nebraska had to go take that game. The Huskers made nine straight shots--including 2 highly improbable free-throw makes from Amir Harris (previously 2 of 12 on FTs)--just to win this game. Iowa did have a turnover or two (2nd being a tie-up on jumpball) with the more important seeming to be by Trueblood ripping it away from kissy-poo Jordan Bohanan, which I think was one of the most crucial plays as it came off a transition make by Roby then was immediately followed by a baseline drive/dunk by Roby to cut it to 70-65. Bohanan had just made a deep three to push this to 70-61 but alas it wasn't for long. The rest is history! GBR !!!

Yeah, based on Trueblood's effort on Sunday, he should start. He balled out. And he bailed NU out with that B1G steal of kissy-poo Jordan Bohanan.

  43. Unless Texas wins the Big 12 Tournament, they'll wind up with 16 losses and they're still being talked about as a bubble team -- for better or for worse, as of this morning Lunardi still has them in with a bye, even. I know their conference record is better than ours (obviously it's up for discussion whether that matters) but just for the sake of conversation, we aren't the only potentially 16-loss team that could be in the discussion. Raises some questions, at least in my eyes, about jersey bias...

  44. I'm trying to decide if the "unsung hero play-of-the-game" should go to Johnny Trueblood assisting Roby for a layup, then stealing the inbound and dishing to Roby for a dunk OR if we give it to Thor and his Hammer of the Gods block on Bohannon to seal the W.

  46. I have no words. Crazy game. -That's the first team all big ten JPJ we had last year that we needed most of the year. I'm happy he got it on his senior day -Glynn Watson has always been one of my favorite players. Watching him heat up like that was very nice to see -the fact we won in OT with all guards when Iowa has very good post players stands to the grit of these guys. -johnny gave us very good minutes today. -roby had a career high, and I still think he could've had more. Overall. This was the game I wanted to win to send the seniors and probably Miles out on a high note. I watched him as he left the arena, he looked choked up when he heard everyone cheer. Happy he got this

  49. The Huskers' downfall began when Miles couldn't get a consultant to fix his team's psyche? I can't believe that this is even a thing. There are seven years of evidence one way or the other of Miles' ability. I'm absolutely fine if you think things are going to be better by keeping him, and I'll support him if he stays. But I really resent the idea that he's somehow a victim in this season's collapse.
