  1. I already hate our next basketball coach and think he should have been fired 2 years ago. (Did I cover all my bases for a flawless "I was right" post in the future?)

  2. I will go down with the ship because I bleed red and am a fan. I won't have revisionist history here. I expected a special year and have been very disappointed in the last several weeks. If the season doesn't turn around, then I will reluctantly be on board for a coaching change despite how much I like Miles and how I feel he has elevated this program. Make no mistake, Nebraska is better off now then we were when Miles took over. However, for all of you that are adament we fire Miles, just be careful what you wish for. There is no guarantee of a home run hire...we could have another 10 years of Collier/Sadler and our talent base could drop off considerably. Which, by the way, Sadler was a great guy and like @hskr4life said, that termination press conference was brutal to watch. Really hope we beat Maryland, get on a little roll and not have to watch Miles go through something similar.

  3. I have not been beating any of those drums about which you speak. Perhaps you should go back and read the posts after the Rutgers game. But this is about those who show up after it's over claiming how "right" and brilliant they were all along. Go ahead and be that douche, it's pretty obvious. Pile on and dance on graves so we can be reminded of your brilliance.

  4. I have it on good authority our next coach will be Tom Crean. The good authority is my 12 year old son, who said “he looks like Miles but after he spent a summer going to Golden Corral”

  5. During this five-game losing streak, from beyond the arc and FG overall: MSU: 5-26 (19 percent); 22-67 (33 percent) RU: 9-22 (41 percent); 25-60 (42 percent) OSU: 8-22 (36 percent); 21-58 (36 percent) UW: 4-20 (20 percent); 17-60 (28 percent) UI: 3-23 (13 percent); 25-70 (36 percent) Overall: 29-113 (25.7 percent); 110-315 (34.9 percent) In the NCAA statistics, the worst-shooting team in America — for the entire season — is Delaware State at 35.1 percent. So in our last five games, we've shot worse from the field than the Mighty Hornets. The worst three-point-shooting team in America — for the entire season — is Jackson State at 25.5 percent. Next to last is East Carolina at 26.4 percent. In other words, by those measures over the past five games, we are the worst-shooting team in America. That's out of 351 Division I programs. That's what frustrates me about watching Iowa. They may have some shortcomings, but every single one of their players knows how to put the ball in the basket. And that's the point, right?

  6. I think "quit" is an oversimplification. My take is we wilted under the weight of rare high expectations. Really took a toll on this group and you could see 3 weeks ago things were drastically wrong and no fun was being had. At this point, unfortunately, it reminds me of 2017 football. Everyone knows how it's going to end, but we have to play out the string and it is really hard to watch it unfold. We were in deep trouble before the Copeland injury, but now we're rolling out only 4-5 legitimate Big 12 players (and at least 2 of those are in horrible slumps), and that isn't enough. I think they're still trying, in the abstract, but it's a mess.

  7. sinner's corner today. i like being back where I usually hang out after a terrible start, but man, not like this. So let me join in on the "yeah, doing well, but....poop" club. I'll be a happy fan if I drop 20 spots next week because the guys made me look stupid.

  8. I would like this also applied to the players. A lot of people like the coach, so they project negative personal flaws on the players. They're lazy, selfish, unmanly (an unbelievable suggestion from an anonymous message poster). The proof is what is on the court. If we don't make the tournament, it's because we weren't talented enough or weren't coached well enough, or a combination. But it doesn't have to be because of the coach's and players' negative qualities.

  9. An opinion on your own opinion. These things all play out the same. People look for and even make up reasons to justify their own opinion. Human nature is that in order for an individual to feel better about wanting a generally good person fired they project on that person negative personal flaws so they don't have to feel so bad. How about this instead. He's a good guy/girl who couldn't get the job done and it sucks. It's OK to feel bad about it. I wanted Doc fired, and I generally felt horrible that I wanted him fired. I didn't project any negative qualities on him to justify my wanting him fired just so I could feel better.

  10. I'm going to piggyback on your thoughts and add that it seems every other team I watch (and the ones we play) catch passes in rhythm and shoot the jumper or 3 pointer. We rarely catch passes in rhythm, and when we do, we hardly ever go up right away with a shot. To me, that's one of our biggest issues. When we have a rhythm shot opportunity, our guys tend to hesitate or use a worthless dribble that goes nowhere. Allen, Nana, and Roby are particularly bad at this.

  14. So where were you last year when won 22 and went 13-5 in league? That's the point, not your ultimate opinion that Miles should be fired. Easy to come on here now and dance on people's graves and gloat about your brilliance. Anyway, thanks for the news flash that Hoiberg isn't coming here. Wow. Brilliant. No one has posted that over the last month. What insight. Thank god for all of your inside connections or we wouldn't know that, Mr. Obvious. Next thing you'll tell us is that Lue and Altman aren't coming here.

  15. Agreed on the first bold. Disagree on second bold. We haven't been blown out in a game during this stretch like that team was. You'll know when this team has quit when we are losing games by 20+pts. This team is struggling but I don't think they have quit...at least not yet. What we need is to have something good to happen. We can get it started this Wednesday. What will the crowd be like on Wednesday? Fan base is hanging by a thread right now.

  16. Agree, thought about this during the game.....more than X's and O's There was an element of Indiana had us well scouted. They knew how to defend us, and how to score on us. And we never adjusted. From a coaching standpoint we got our hats handed to us. But that's not unusual in the business......can you coach and be successful game in and game out ? ...It's a tough job. Indy reminded of Drake somewhat....very disciplined on offense and defense. After last year, everyone's paying more attention to us and are better prepared for what we can do...and apparently what we may not do so well.

  19. Indiana impressed me with their ability to recover on defense and get around or fight through screens. Our 3 point percentage was low because we got very few quality looks, nearly everyone was pressured. Conversely, we could not recove as well on defense and the Hoosiers had more open looks that fell in the 2nd half. I thought Maddie Simon gave us a lift today. I love the teams grit grit and fight. I sometimes am confused by our substitution patterns, why take out a hot player. The 1-3-1 zone was solved and allowed IU to run off too much clock late in the game. They were a tough matchup for us.

Yeah I’m not saying folks should have confidence in Moos. I have no idea how capable he is or isn’t. But I’m not worried about recruits at this point because it’s far from a given that Miles would have done anything but disappoint with the above group.

Oregon had gone to the ncaa tournament once in close to 35 years before Moos replacement took them to multiple elite 8 appearances and NCAA tournaments. Id also like to know how Moos has undermined Miles. Funny, how all offseason it was how this team was going to be very good, a shoe in for the tournament but it wasn’t till Miles loses the team(again) that we hear Moos is to blame.

Haha Tony Bennett was the reason for those results. They hit the lottery by employing his dad as head coach who left Tony in charge. Then Tony left for a better school, which is what happens when your at a school like WSU. Look a little deeper than the surface.

  23. Couldn't agree more with @kansashusker. We have any number of players that can make the big three, Kissinger, Maddie, etc, etc. When they are falling it's fine, but we are just too inconsistent (4-23; 18.2%) in both our shooting, and rebounding, to think we can (or should) rely on the Three Pointer. And all those missed FT's. Indiana's offense is better (and more consistent) in the paint. They drive to the basket (make it) and get a Plus One. So many times on our drives we Don't make the basket and (if there's a foul) Might make the FTs. Looking at the stats, shooting %s and all, the perplexing thing to me is how we can even still be in the game with a chance of winning at the end. It Must be the team's characteristic GRIT; NO QUIT attitude.

  24. You can want him all you want, but you realize he isn't coming here, right? And it has nothing to do with what we're willing to pay. So you might just want to expand your list beyond one.

Blow this whole thing up. Maybe the incoming freshman will still come but this team will be loaded with freshman and xfers next year. This culture and style needs a thorough cleaning including Boehm

  27. I just want everyone to sleep tight tonight knowing that we have Marc Boehm on staff to oversee basketball, and he will lead this program to the promise land. Absolutely nothing to be concerned about here.

  31. I don't think questioning the coach has anything to do with loyalty. We all bleed red. The question is if the program at this level is acceptable to you. For some, it was unacceptable two years ago apparently, which is their right, but they missed out on the enjoyment of last year. I'm not giving up on this season because we did the work in noncon to get us into the NCAA if we can just play decent ball the rest of the way. But for heavens sake, Miles has been here 7 years, if he can't get this team to the NCAA, how can you possibly think he's the long-term solution? If that makes me disloyal, then &%&% it. I also don't feel the need to preface every assessment of the program with "I like Miles ..... ." I don't care one way or the other about whether he's a great guy, I want to win. He gets paid a lot of money, and he knew what was expected of him. If he's out of work, he leaves $millions richer than any of us.

  32. He was likely at the OSU game because Chris Holtmann and Michael Lewis both worked for him at Butler and he is well respected as an AD. Probably still friends with both of them. I also think the last time the conference tourney was in Indy I saw pictures that we practiced at Hinkle Fieldhouse, and this was before Lewis was on staff. There must be a good connection between our two programs.

  34. When I saw that Matta was 51 I was thinking oops, they hit a 5 instead of a 6 on the keyboard. I asked a few other friends how old they thought he was and they to guessed older than 51 as well. Regardless of that, if there is an opening he is a guy that I like.

The excuses by both sides is exhausting. And typical of most excuses. Could Moos have handled it better? Without question. But if Eichorst wouldn’t have been fired we’d likely have a different coach right now. Could the coaching staff done better recruiting for depth and coaching this season? Likely true also.

Moos has overseen more basketball success at Oregon than we have ever seen at Nebraska ever. Multiple elite 8s, multiple PAC12 tournament championships, and a PAC12 regular season title. Sure the hire at WSU didn’t work out, but that’s also probably the worst power 5 coaching job out there. I refuse to blame an AD whose been here for 1 year for Miles failures for 7 years.

Green has one other power 5 offer reported by rivals - TCU. Arop has zero other power 5 offers. Adams-Woods has one other power 5 offer reported by rivals - Georgia Tech. I think even with a coaching change we would remain in the top 3 option for all 3 of them, if they want to play power 5 basketball. Also we have to consider than 2 of them are already playing basketball in the state of Nebraska. It wouldn't be farfetched to think a new coach would be able to retain 2 of them.

Yeah, that was said after Joe passed away, after Moe walked out after a tournament appearance, after Danny loss favor with the masses, after Barry left for greener pastures and after Doc was fired. Trying not to be an **hole, but I have heard the same rhetoric over and over. Coach K isn't going to walk in here and raise the dead. We are likely going to hire a coach and he will be a good coach (if Miles is fired) and we will have a split fan base again. Where you are optimistic that the next guy has to be better, I have lived the whole Groundhog Day experience over and over and over again. So excuse me that I am a bit pessimistic that our great coaching savior is just around the corner. Miles has his flaws, but he has brought in Big Ten level players and assistant coaches. We had this town and the state on fire until the last two and a half weeks transpired. So...crap.
