I'll be at the game too for my only Huskers WBB home game of the season... Likely behind the West hoop in my usual accoutrements. Feel free to drop by!

He has been away from the team for approximately 2 weeks. I'm sure the medical staff is taking all precautions. There is no rush to return him to action until he has fully recovered and has gotten his legs back under him. From a medical perspective we do know that mono can cause weight loss and fatigue, and those symptoms can linger.

  8. Oh man where do I start.... *That’s a game we lose under Miles for at least 4/6 years he’s coached here. No kids, deadish crowd, break coming up, coming off some emotional wins with illness creeping through the team. Nice to have talent. If Doc was coaching that game with his players, that’s 21-19 at half or something. *I feel bad for CSF’s coach. He had a phenomenal game plan that I expect conference teams to exploit. His team executed the general principles of it well, also. Too bad he has some bone-head individual players who lost him so many crucial possessions when it coulda been made into a real game. *That was an ugly 20 from Roby. I did not think he played well at all. We kinda forced it to him in the second half and he clanged his way to 20 somehow. Should have had 30 with his miss free throws and missed opportunities earlier in the game. *If Glynn woulda had just an “ok” year last year - he’d be receiving so much more pub this year. He’s really doing some special, special stuff to lead this team. And his defense.... OOOHHH MY ? *I love Cope and Palmer. *Nana’s never seen a shot he didn’t like. *Tom Allen is that dude. 11:52 mark in 1st half - his 1on1 defensive transition - 99.9% of people can’t do that. *As long as we don’t ever have the type of team that solely relies on Brady to be a superstar, he could go down as one of the most serviceable bigs we’ve had IN A LONNNGGGG TIME.

  9. So this is kind of interesting. As I joked in another thread recently, I'm not used to "seeding discussions" when it comes to Nebraska basketball. I was curious if there are certain seeds that are more advantageous with the 1 v. 16, etc. layout of the bracket. I looked at the historical NCAA tournament records by seed, by round, and assigned points to advancing to each round: 1 to the 2nd round, 2 to the Sweet 16, then 4, 8, 16, and 32 for winning the championship. Then I calculated the expected points value for each seed based on historical results. Not surprisingly, the 1 seed has by far the best expected value and there is a general downward trend from there. But, it's not a perfect pattern. For example, the 6 seed actually has a higher expected value than a 5 seed. This is largely because 6 seeds have advanced to the Elite 8 nearly twice as often as 5 seeds, because they don't have to play the 1 seed in the Sweet 16. Another interesting phenomenon is that 10 and 11 seeds have performed better than 9 seeds - again likely related to avoiding the 1 seed matchup, in the 2nd round. Connecting this to Nebraska, we are currently projected as a 4 seed or 5 seed on most sites. But, don't fret if we fall to a 6 seed. History would say we are no worse off if we fall to the 6/11 game.

Agreed. The only thing we have to go on for now is that he had/has mono and hasn't recovered enough yet to rejoin his team on the court, at least in games.

  27. He completely contradicts himself with his entire rankings. If you want to base you rankings on 'what you have done for me lately' - that's cool, but your rankings should at least reflect that. Also, Nebraska is 3-0 in their last 3, won all 3 by 19+ points, two of those being against power confrence schools. We've played like a top 20 school lately. What has Nova done lately to be ranked? 1-2 with a loss to Penn? What has Butler done lately to be ranked? Lost to Indiana at home, beat Presbyterian by 9? I'd have more respect for Katz if he came out and said "Oh sh*t, I forgot Nebraska!"

  30. This is better than the 350th ranked team, like Nebraska played last season. The NET rankings for NU wouldn't be irrevocably broken by this matchup like the RPI was last year against the Delaware State's of the world. Sheesh, *that* was awful.

But Thor has shown some flashes of things i like. Im sure the jump from Iceland ball to B1G ball is pretty significant. I will also root for him til he is no longer a Husker. GBR

Santa Claus will be delivering some stocking stuffers for everyone on HHC. But don't be alarmed when you see it. Those NyQuil chasers are only to be used on an as-needed basis, which hopefully won't be necessary in 2019.

  40. Years ago Nebraska had a JUCO Qb recruit (Jordan Adams) that had mono and ended up having his spleen removed . He physically never recovered. That is likely the medical staffs fear and probably why they have been so careful with him. That being said, I would assume he'll be back when B10 play starts. The games aren't the issue because he doesn't play lots of minutes. Practice intensity is and that can adequately be managed in season quite easily.

  41. They no longer have a Creighton Prep grad on the team, so the chances of them bringing a Jaysker cheering section is none to minimal, as are the odds that one of their dudes will try to take out our best player on a fast break.

  43. Since the loss at home v Kansas last year, in regular-season games we are: 25-6 straight-up 17 wins against P-5 conference teams 24-4-1 against the spread 18-0 at home 19 wins by at least 9 points Climbed from KenPom #85 to KenPom #14

  44. Huskers sit at 10-2. 7 wins by 20+ points, 1 by 19, 1 by 15 and 1 by 2 points. I can't ever remember any Nebraska team beating teams by these types of margins ever. And with that giddiness I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

  46. - the progression nana has made on the defensive end in 12 games is remarkable. He still gets lost from time to time but hes competent now and rebounds well. Tip of the cap to the young man -the flashes that Brady shows in limited minutes are so encouraging. His ability to wall up on the defensive end is going to be key for us in the coming years. Now to just work on those free throws. -it’s probably not permanent but I like nana in the starting lineup and Allen off the bench. Allen’s capable of getting his own shot and creating for others which we don’t have on the bench. Nana is a dead eye shooter that meshes well w the starters IMO. -we are going to miss Palmer for many reasons but one of the biggest will be games like today. Dude just brings it every time we need it

  47. They're 7-4. Last game was Dec. 15, a 75-63 win against Minnesota-Duluth. They shoot 43 percent from 3, and 81 percent from the line. Leading scorer is Ryan Bruggeman at 23.2 ppg. He's a 6-0 sophomore from Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. LIKELY STARTERS Ryan Bruggeman, 6-0, So. Taylor Schafer, 6-3, Sr. (12.1 ppg) Kenny Byers, 6-4, So. (11.7 ppg) Michael Lee, 6-6, Sr. Steven McNease, 6-6 Sr. They'll go 8 deep.
