  1. I think Wisky had interest, but after he was on a visit and attended one of their practice sessions focused on flopping and family-jewel punching, he decided to go in another direction.

  2. I agree our PA announcer needs to stop trying to make BOOM SHAKALAKA happen, but at least it's not as bad as the Michigan PA announcer going FOR THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee After each made 3 pointer.

  7. As long as we're not a 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, or 11 seed then we're in good shape. History can't repeat itself if we're a different seed right?

  11. So this is kind of interesting. As I joked in another thread recently, I'm not used to "seeding discussions" when it comes to Nebraska basketball. I was curious if there are certain seeds that are more advantageous with the 1 v. 16, etc. layout of the bracket. I looked at the historical NCAA tournament records by seed, by round, and assigned points to advancing to each round: 1 to the 2nd round, 2 to the Sweet 16, then 4, 8, 16, and 32 for winning the championship. Then I calculated the expected points value for each seed based on historical results. Not surprisingly, the 1 seed has by far the best expected value and there is a general downward trend from there. But, it's not a perfect pattern. For example, the 6 seed actually has a higher expected value than a 5 seed. This is largely because 6 seeds have advanced to the Elite 8 nearly twice as often as 5 seeds, because they don't have to play the 1 seed in the Sweet 16. Another interesting phenomenon is that 10 and 11 seeds have performed better than 9 seeds - again likely related to avoiding the 1 seed matchup, in the 2nd round. Connecting this to Nebraska, we are currently projected as a 4 seed or 5 seed on most sites. But, don't fret if we fall to a 6 seed. History would say we are no worse off if we fall to the 6/11 game.

  15. Good point. I was also thinking bc we play so few games in a long period of time. Maybe the staff is subbing less to keep the guys locked in and in "game shape" ?

  17. Somebody smarter can correct me but I think there is so much statistical analysis that go into rankings and perceptions etc. that we are keeping the gas on a bit longer. Kenpom predicts we will win by 17 so you don't go the bench early and let it slip to that or under that. Staying ranked, staying in the Kenpom top 15 matters to our confidence, expectations and recruiting. That's my guess.

  22. Today is my little brothers first college game. Got good seats behind our bench in the front. Hopefully it's a good one. Looking forward to this. They were a tourney team last year so I am not underestimating them, but we should win handily

  24. I watched Dachon at practice recently and was impressed. Very quick first step, smooth shot effective from 3 point range and tenacious on D. Scored with ease against our starters. Based on one practice he would start today if not for sitting out. Also seems to have leadership skills. Encouraged other players and very demanding of himself.

  25. During the state tourney last year, I was listening to I believe Sharp and Benning, and one of them said while leaving the first game of the tourney Heiman played in, they overheard two people talking the reason Creighton is Creighton and Nebraska is Nebraska is instate talent. Creighton signs Patton and Nebraska gets Heiman. I have two words for those people: Bite me.

  28. They're 7-4. Last game was Dec. 15, a 75-63 win against Minnesota-Duluth. They shoot 43 percent from 3, and 81 percent from the line. Leading scorer is Ryan Bruggeman at 23.2 ppg. He's a 6-0 sophomore from Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. LIKELY STARTERS Ryan Bruggeman, 6-0, So. Taylor Schafer, 6-3, Sr. (12.1 ppg) Kenny Byers, 6-4, So. (11.7 ppg) Michael Lee, 6-6, Sr. Steven McNease, 6-6 Sr. They'll go 8 deep.

  29. Half court defense was outstanding again until they had one guy get hot in the second half Our zone doesn't always produce a stop, but it really forces teams to slow their tempo, which can be effective in situations like we were in today, where CSF was gaining momentum 3-pt defense was outstanding again until they hit those 2 late 3s Not bad that we can miss 14 FTs, get out-rebounded by 10+ and still cruise to an easy win I like Roby driving from the wing/baseline area better than from the top of the key, it was nice to get him a couple of clear-outs from that area of the floor I also like how a slow start offensive for Roby does not affect him on the defensive end at all - he was at a high level on that end once again All things considered, a solid performance, as it would've been easy for guys to be thinking more about going home than playing today 10-2 with one more gimme to go is a really good result for Nov/Dec Yet another Vegas cover so that helps the analytics We're really good ... but you already knew that

  35. I thought the shooting form was alil funky on the 3s but it looked affective. I could not find any stats on him to see what his shooting percentages have been. I mainly wanted to see what he shooting from the free line. But he runs the floor well and plays above the rim on defense, so basically everything we have wanted in the center position for years

  38. I hope the arena is full, but I won't bank on it. Traditionally there are a lot of Christmas no-shows. There are also a number of non-traditional fans. They tend to relax into their seats and are less than rowdy. So, if the team is exciting, the fans will be excited. I for one will try to amp up the noise

  42. The article I read was that a Southern California based company will get the rights to the land and will own the building for 10 years. Taking concession sales, tickets, etc. Then after 10 years the land and building are 100% UT's. My take on that is that even if UT gets first rights at events (I think it said 60 scheduled days?), it's not going to be as autonomous as how PBA works. And the company is banking on making a killing off of those first 10 years, then pass on all the maintenance costs and liabilities.

  44. I think we would be unmercifully clowned if we rolled out Cowboy Hat Herbie Putting a jumpman logo on our stuff doesn't make it any better IMO. Being a top tier Adidas school is probably better than being a middle tier Nike school because the real cool factor is determined by winning, not brand.
