  1. Really happy for the kids. Very good to see Hannah active on the glass and getting kids involved with assists. We need her to embrace being a leader. — love seeing Kate and Veerbeek with good rebound numbers for 20 min of action. — shots go in sometimes and sometimes they don’t but rebounding and defense must happen all the time. We got tougher today.

  2. At some point we have to start calling things for what they are. Roby isnt the best player on this team. Hes not the second best. Hes not even the third best. He is indeed the fourth best player on this team rn. Thats how hes playing and he has never really shown us much different. Now im not knocking him bc there are some really good players on this team and Roby does have the most NBA potential. But he is not currently the best player on the team nor has he ever been during his time here.

  4. I appreciate your work, 49r, and passion for Husker Hoops. I know 99% of those here do. Many years ago, before most people on this site found it, I and a staff of several others (including several former players and even radio PBP announcers of both men and women) wrote articles on this site daily from November-March. I did interviews with every opponents head coach and a weekly chat with a Husker. We once did the entire Big Red Report magazine basketball preview. Jay Bilas was on this site. Paul Splittorff. Reid Gettys. Major NCAA Division I referees. Many future NBA players. Etc etc. Then somewhere along the way, 4 years into it, I let the hatred of some people burn me out - the non appreciation most showed of all the hard work I was putting in and the several hundred dollars a year loss I was eating. i semi regret it - don't do the same thing as me and walk away. Thank God HHCMatt saved this site and made it better than ever. It makes me happy knowing that a little blog I started in 2005 to deal with a breakup in Charlotte, NC. has morphed into what it has. It's all because of the people here.

  6. The easiest way to test whether the sample size is too small is by changing the result by one and decide whether it materially changes your opinion of the stat. In this case, 3/7 (43%) is waaaay different than 2/7 (29%), meaning there's little value in evaluating Roby's 3-point shooting percentage yet, as others have said.

  7. Wish we could see the game....audio only just doesn't cut it for sports. Team must play with a sense of urgency. Got to right the ship. Haiby is the most prolific right now...needs to see the floor a lot. Hanna probably sees a need to step up her game....competition can do wonders. Verbeek is very productive. She also needs to see the floor a lot. Nice first qtr. We'll see how the dreaded 2nd qtr goes. So....we'll see

  8. Starting tomorrow, over a 12-game span, NU plays 8 top 50 KenPom teams, 5 on the road. Four of the road games are against top 35 teams. at #23 at #24 at #32 at #33 at #45 H #8 H #34 H #38 Plus there's a #60 neutral site opponent in there. That has to be one of the toughest 12-game stretches in school history that includes both conference and non-con games. Great opportunity!

    Bad Team

For the panic crowd reminder drake is really good. They just beat no 13 South Carolina. — so they are 3-0 v us, Rutgers and South Carolina. They gave Notre Dame all the wanted.

  10. I didn’t get to listen to 2 nd half but it appears the team put them away. Hope this builds some confidence. Did anyone notice Drake knocking off South Carolina?

  16. A great opportunity and a great reason for everyone not to panic about a missed opportunity against Tech. Played bad? Yes. But we will have plenty more opportunities against quality competition and more of those than not are away from home.

  17. JPJ is shooting 50% of his shots from three and is hitting at a .179 clip. As I said in preseason this was my biggest concern coming in. Obviously that needs to get a lot better. Hopefully starting with Clemson.

  19. If he does go this year it would have to be 1 of those draft work out stock risers or whatever in my opinion. Unless something changes mentality wise offensively. But I dont think hes been horrible out there after rewatching some games. Defensively I feel he's draft ready. Seems as though he's the 4th option on this team offensively and maybe he doesnt want to interrupt the offensive flow or whatever which makes him seem too be indecisive. Who knows could be a million different things lol Sent from my LGL84VL using Tapatalk

  22. A- we did what we needed to do. B- saw a PBA usher go up to the 300 section and point towards the student section, then saw 50 fans head down there. C- Jordy was at the game, spent some time in a suite, then down on the floor. Wonder if he spoke with Miles, would think that would be kinda awkward. D- On to Clemson!!!!!

  24. Miles mentioned their HC played for coach Mo’ and he adopted their defense after Mo’s, which Miles said was a good challenge. I thought we did what we needed to do, there were seasons in the past where this would’ve been a 7-9 point win. On to Clemson.

  25. Slow start in this one but after Gilbeck picked up his 2nd foul the team went on a 36-8 run (if you can call that a run) to put away the Leathernecks early After starting 0-4 Palmer gets chewed out about his shot selection and shot 50% the rest of the way, taking it into the lane. 0-5 from 3 and his nightmare 3pt shooting season continues. Watson is the MVP of this one. Shot well, pulled down 9 boards, and Kobe Webster held to 3 points on the other end. His great season continues. Quiet game for Cope. Foul trouble slowed him down. He didn't pick up any in the 2nd half and has only fouled out once in his career. Roby had some nice post moves and has stretches...at one point he turned over Gilbreck, scored on the other end, and then turned Gilbreck over again. Allen couldn't hit a 3 but had a solid game. Got his first career block! Nana was first off the bench with Harris. Finally hit a 3 and almost had a spectacular dunk. Still gets lost out there from time to time. Harris has no confidence to pull the trigger on a 3. Has a nose for rebounding and pulled down another 5. Brady...boy he just shows you so much skill. He's going to have a really good career here. On to Clempson

  27. My hope is that we did not game-plan this game and the staff told the players to simply go out and play. I will give some credit to the Leathernecks for playing pretty good defense. I also remember them taking Creighton to the end losing by single figures. But sheesh, we were sure clanking our free throws and three pointers. I have to believe one or two players shot okay, but man, many of the players were shooting and hoping. For us to beat Clemson (and the run of teams coming at us thereafter) we need to keep rebounding, keep up our defensive effort and shoot a whole lot better. It is not the offense in my opinion. We are getting plenty of good looks, but finishing was iffy at best. Win and move on. Hope we start making baskets.

  28. this was probably a tough game for the guys to focus on all things considered. they were locked in for the first half, which was fortunate. but let's face it: everyone's waiting for the gauntlet to start, and I'm sure our guys are no exception. hopefully they're chomping at the bit to get back in the saddle against quality competition this week. they're going to get plenty of that.

    Bad Team

These are good kids who are talented and will win games and get it going. However on any team in any sport the pieces have to fit together. Right now the kids are all trying very hard but we don’t have any kids that VIEW THEMELVES as “role players”. Great teams have role players. On paper we didn’t graduate “high talent” but jas was our best defender and took a lot of pride in it and woody viewed her main job as to lead. When we get some kids that figure out “I can help the team the most by being a dominant rebounder or a lock down defender” or by being the kid that sets the tone in practice every day so we get better habits then we will blossom. Right now every kid that comes in wants to shoot and score their way into more minutes. That’s not unusual at all and very normal on a lot of teams. Especially young teams. However On good teams u defend, rebound and take care of the ball into more minutes. Just the way it is. — we are plenty talented and we will get better as kids settle in.

  30. Okay so y'all don't appreciate the KenPom thread then?? I'm happy to quit doing it if all you can do is bitch and whine at the first sign of adversity, for fucks sake it's one loss vs a top 25 team, get over yourselves! Jesus, it's no wonder Creighton fans mock us for not knowing anything about hoops, you guys are pathetic... Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
