  1. Huge article on Kent in the LJS this morning. He is approaching his 1000th basketball broadcast and easing his way into "legendary" status. Well deserved,Mr. P. (I'll defer making the link to someone who actually knows how to do it)

  2. @Kent Pavelka has already been a 'legend' in the state of Nebraska for quite a while for play-by-play of both the gridiron & hardwood action. He's even recently received the honor of having his face on the Barroom floor in Omaha. But, one-thousand is a real B1G number for hoops! One wonders how many football games it would add up to at KFAB et al....

  3. I'll take stab at a "situation or venue that turned your stomach". I know that Kent had a very bad experience with Bob Knight in Bloomington many years ago. Knight was a complete Jackwagon to Kent when Kent was just trying to do his job in advance of the game. Showed a completely a-holish side and went out of his way to disrespect and demean a guy who was just trying to introduce himself. I heard the specifics long ago but can't recall the exact exchange. I don't know if that ever got patched up.

Not following this story at all, but I'd like to add, "Burn the Witch!" just for a little color. That and I wanted to be in a lynch mob today. I don't know what it is about Sundays....

  5. I just want to hear Kent huck up "jackwagon" about a dozen more times this season. Then life can be complete.

  8. As a reward for all you people who play this game, (I tried one season, but quit halfway thru), if anyone correctly predicts the actual score of any Husker game on this thread, I will give that person 4 bags of Lucky Beef Jerky. You gotta let me know if you win. I'm not coming back to this thread....? In case of a tie, the first predictor wins. Jerky doesn't grow on trees....

  9. One last comment on the Kearney scrimmage game. Leigha Brown will not be on the bench for very long......will be hard to keep her off the floor. She can do it all...already.

  10. Hard to lose that game...I really thought we could have won that one. A few passes were there and would have been big. They got a big run on a well defended play, it was a player making a play. We were fine with the penalties. We won the turnover battle...but the special team were flat out bad. Uggggh. But hey, progress is very visible. We are on the right track.

  15. My favorite part this season has been having a handful of non-Husker friends ask me sarcastically, "So how do you feel about Scott Frost now?" I responded to one of those friends, "You know, I'm liking a lot of what I'm seeing. We've got to limit the penalties and tighten up on some basics, but I'm not too concerned." That friend's jaw dropped and said, "What? You're 0-6! What are you talking about? You're crazy." It's all about the big picture and taking the necessary steps to get there. I wish this friend was a Big Ten alum. I would love to play him next year.

Yeah, there were some drops but this game was not lost on offense. Special teams were a killer. We'll have to recruit out of the defensive problems but it is all very encouraging. Have the nucleus for a great offense and Frost called a tremendous game. Austin and Held are SO much better than their pitiful predecessors. More optimistic than I've been in years.

  18. Left a lot of points off the board, dropped too many crucial passes, and got cold on offense. But man, this OSU/NU matchup is much more fun to watch than the Riley era.
