This must mean we're in business again : ) Wasn't sure Coach was still around.....been so silent this summer.? She seems to confirm the high quality of the freshman.... it was pretty apparent at the time they were recruited. They have some good experience at the HS level. that's showing up already. Good depth apparently. Like Coach said there's no time to dally around. We have to come out of the chutes fast. A little press conference gets the old blood flowing again !3 points

How often is it that you see a list like this and see two guys from Nebraska on it and Purdue and Michigan State only have one?2 points

Part of that is because he hasn't been cleared to practice fully yet. That hip injury severely weakened one of his legs so they've been trying to build that strength back up. He has a good frame and a smooth stroke. I don't know if he'll be able to beat out any of the guys ahead of him for playing time this year, especially with how far behind he is right now. But I think he'll be a good player down the road. I touched on him and all the other newcomers in this section of my in-depth roster overview I rolled out this week at Hail Varsity. I will say I think Dedoch was a little hunched in that picture plus Cope's hair makes him look a little taller than he is, but Chan is definitely a little smaller than you'd like to see as your back-up 4/5 (he said he's working mostly at the 4 but has practiced a bit at the 5).2 points -
October is here, practice has begun and that can mean only one thing. It's time once again to start the KenPom ranking thread! For the first time in a while Nebraska will be starting off in the middle of the B1G pack. We're hoping to build on last season's success and maybe do some pretty great things this season. We finished last year at #55, no idea where Ken will have us to start, but Bart Torvik's T-Rank system (which is pretty similar to KenPom) currently has us at #36, good for 5th best in the B1G. Once again I'm going to start the thread with each team's rank to start the previous year (in parenthesis) and how they finished. Additionally, the teams on our schedule that made the postseason are color coded with the round the team lost noted. NCAA is in Red and NIT in Blue. Finally, don't forget to click here to see all the previous years' KenPom threads (I highly recommend going back through them, they're always fun to read). Here we go! KenPom rankings as of 4-02-18 ========================= B1G (0-0): (17) -> 5. Purdue S16 (10) -> 6. Michigan State R32 (34) -> 7. Michigan NCAA Title Game (78) -> 16. Ohio State R32 (40) -> 19. Penn State NIT Champions (41) -> 39. Maryland (97) -> 55. Nebraska 1st RD (31) -> 70. Wisconsin (65) -> 71. Indiana (18) -> 85. Northwestern (54) -> 88. Iowa (104) -> 102. Illinois (36) -> 117. Minnesota (125) -> 130. Rutgers Non-Conference (0-0): 348. Mississippi Valley State 199. Southeastern Louisiana ---Gavitt Tip-Off--- 26. Seton Hall R32 ---Hall of Fame Classic--- 120. College Baseball talk in the fall - love it. A few nuggets for those still paying attention Our 2018 class was rated #16 by D1 baseball - good freaking class. Top 25 Classes Erstad still being mentioned for the head job with the Angels - if he threw his name in the hat for the Dodgers you would think he would here as well. One of the few jobs he would consider outside of Nebraska IMO. Angels Opening1 point -

Much agreed. Once we cycle threw a couple years with this rule I dont think you will see as many Clemson type situations. This rule is great for underclassmen and injuries.1 point -

That's a better end result than losing a year for a ligament injury in the 4th game would have been otherwise. Medical redshirts weren't a guarantee, and this will be now due to the new rule.1 point -

Loyalty may be a virtue, but so are discipline and accountability, and we had none of that for 3 years. More likely any players not buying in took it personally that the days of no discipline/do whatever feels good were ending, more than any public comments. The ones who understood the comments were legit and own them are the ones that we need going forward, rather than anyone whining that there feelings were hurt by a few public comments.1 point -

I'm sorry, but if the 'culture' thing affects these candy-a$$es, and they are really offended by a few comments on Riley & Co., then sayonara. I don't see how Frost needs to sugarcoat this to be palatable to a few guys who weren't going to get on the train anyway. This whole saga of the past month has been tiring, bear with me; I'm just sick of the drama. No offense to Normy's comments were meant by my.... err uhhh, rant! GBR!!!1 point -

I stopped by the OSA/Creighton Prep Fall League in Council Bluffs this morning before the football game to check out some Nebrasketball targets. Here's a few highlights if anyone is interested. The last clip of Donovan Williams is him hitting a 3-pointer to tie the game plus a foul, and he hit the free throw which proved to be the game-winner. My favorite play I saw this morning was the up-and-under lefty scoop by Chucky Hepburn. Kid is ridiculous.1 point -

Matt, thanks for honoring Brian. I doubt he would have liked the attention but I can assure you that our family thinks it is pretty cool. By the way, I saved some of his old ticket stubs from Devaney. Of course two of them are from Row 6 Seat 10. L-R 1. GA ticket from 94-95 2. LSU game (Won 77-63) from 2009-10 which was Nebraska's most successful season, 32-2, BIG XII Champions. Pictured are seniors - back, Kelsey Griffin, Nikki Bober, Cory Montgomery; front, Kala Kuhlmann, Nicole Neals, Vonnie Turner. 3. Penn State game (Lost 67-82) - last WBB game played at Devaney featuring Lindsey Moore on the ticket.1 point -

Good grief, 49r. I hate to say it, but you're a Kool-Aid drinking, rose colored glasses wearing, sunshine pumping optimist if you think we're in a battle for #7. Eight, maybe. But #7? You're pushing the bounds of credulity there, my man.1 point
