  1. Lot of good stuff going on in that jumper. Looks very repeatable. Compact stroke, not a lot of extra movement. Very quick. Gets good elevation. Balanced. Range. NBA range. Can shoot off the dribble. This is the kind of player you can be guarding and feel like you're right in his face and he can elevate over top of you and bury a trey. He does not need much separation to get that shot off. And because he's a threat to drive and can also shoot from the dribble, defenders will have to respect the drive and can't cheat on defending the shot. His stats show that his good shooting isn't an artifact of selective video editing. This guy can score the ball in a variety of ways. Good offensive pickup for us.

  2. They need to completely break down Amir Harris's jumper and start over from scratch. He doesn't make enough outside shots that you would say don't mess with it. Go ahead and mess with it. In fact, don't just mess with it, but overhaul it. We aren't going to need him to be a perimeter threat this year. He'll get minutes for his defensive length, athleticism, and ability to distribute. But NEXT year, we might need him to be a guy who can drop a dagger or two. At least someone you can't leave alone on the perimeter and sag off for help D. Outside the top 4, there's too much we don't know to really project much for the year, but seems we're hearing Thomas Allen is probably the 5th starter and Amir might be 1st off the bench. That would make sense. I have NO CLUE who the first big off the bench will be. But I don't think we go as deep as we might have a year ago. There will probably be a 3-man rotation on the front line, 4 in the event of foul trouble. Guards/wings there might be 4-5 guys who see regular minutes. Our starting 5 will be virtually as talented as anyone we play. The big question to me is how much help do we get from our bench? And does Roby stay healthy and out of foul trouble. That's going to be the key to our season.

This forum name has been changed to "Row 6 Seat 10" in honor of Brian Karnatz who is the reason it exists.

  6. I talk to a fair number of coaches, and they don't all talk about their players the way Fehringer did about Green. My first question was "What kind of player is Nebraska getting?" and he honestly wasn't sure how to answer the question because he didn't know where to start. I'm sure there's a little hyperbole in what he said, but the enthusiasm he had for talking up Green isn't something you find every time you talk to a coach. Anyway, here's the story for those that are interested.

  7. http://www.zagsblog.com/2018/09/23/mika-adams-woods-to-nebraska/ Zags notes he has a 6'7" wing span. Also worth noting since that doesn't seem to be a thing on this year's squad that he's a "vocal leader" on the court.

    Rumor?

I share the nostalgia, of playing Big 8 teams of old. I can take or leave the Texas teams.

  10. Talking about the rotation this season at this point in time is somewhat of a guess and by-golly. But here are some of my thoughts: * Isaiah remains banged up. I am guessing that early in the season he may be on restricted duty; perhaps 22 to 25 minutes per game. That will provide a bit more opportunity for a few other team members * We sort of know what Tanner will bring to the table. The remainder of the group (outside the core four) are still a mystery. I am interested in seeing how players matured and developed. Going into last season, most people assumed Jack was going to play a key role and others hoped or assumed that Jordy was going to develop more than he did. We hoped that Isaiah, Isaac and James were going to be good; arguably, they exceeded expectations. Freshmen are hard to guage; but we likely should assume that they will be inconsistent. * How will Armon and the staff jell. If any of them struggle, will the team struggle as well? To me, the team should meet or exceed expectations. Yet there are questions and concerns and players have to step up.

  11. I hope we are targeting more than these two. Going to be more than 2 spots available.

Also looks like the games they're playing have a lot more possessions than the games he'll be playing here. I'm not overly concerned about that. He only had 3 other games where he picked up 4 fouls. Roby's played with a lot more foul trouble than that in his time here and is doing just fine.

  14. Dang it you were supposed to say "Yeah you know Lickface" I will now not explain that comment and stop highjacking this thread. Yeah it seems like his biggest obstacle may just end up being himself. But at least we haven't heard anything like his juco grades are bad or anything.

  15. Quote from the OWN "Green is a 6-foot-3 slasher who can get the rim, and can bother defenders with a long wingspan." This kid may be the best prospect Miles has gotten besides maybe Roby. I'm gonna make a hot take and say that I expect green will be in the NBA. I am feeling especially confident after this quote "Fehringer talks with Green often about how former Indiana guard Victor Oladipo averaged 12 deflections per game as a senior." As I made this comparison before this article broke even though it was for totally different reasons And as a random piece of NBA trivia Robert Covington led the league in deflection rate this year and was nominated to first team all defense so I'm glad to see he is working on this.

  16. I suspect he went juco because he couldn't qualify. If he qualified, he'd be joining us now.

  17. When I read through the things Miles says and the things written about this team, Thor and Chan don't come up almost at all. The only times Davis comes up is in terms of his health. Nana, Amir, Allen and a little bit of Heiman get brought up. I'd expect those 4 along with the big 4 to see the bulk of the minutes. Who gets talked about in and by the coaches and media are often big indicators of who we'll see on the court. Until I start hearing more about those other guys, I'm probably not gonna project them in the rotation.

I think Zay's great for the future of NU recruiting in IL, as in, I hope there's another dude out there in Illinois somewhere waiting for Miles & Mo to pay him a visit. GBR

    The rotation this year

Palmer played the majority of his minutes at the 3 last year. If he does the same this year thats 30+ MPG. Also you have Nana, Thor and Amir that could play on the wing. I do not see Dedoch Chan playing much on the wing, not that he cant, but theres not really a need for him there. I see most of his minutes at the 4. When he comes in Copeland or Roby slide to the 5 while the other goes to the bench for a breather. Thats how i see it shaking out if Chan is the bench piece for the front court.

    Tickets

When I have tickets to sell I just use StubHub that way I don't have to deal with back and forth e-mail or phone calls and collecting money etc. They can take credit cards and just send me the proceeds.

Poor comparison. I’m pretty sure Jervay Green is not being dismissed from his current team.

  25. That's fine by me. Kids generally don't want to straight out of H.S. If he gets injured, Heiman could receive a medical RS. Spit-ballin' a bit. I personally hope Brady brings some fire off the bench, something that Jordy didn't seem to bring his toolbox very often. Grab some defensive rebounds, outlet the basketball, provide screens, a few offensive boards even, make his bunnies, and make his free-throws... you know, just the basic fundamentals of a big man. I'm optimistic that #45 will be a decent contributor on a great team so he can develop into being a bigger contributor in the following years.
