    2019 Recruiting

I'd be recruiting two front court players right now. Agree that Arop is likely in. But it's pretty safe to say that one of the guards won't be around next year. You can oversign by 1. Go get two legit frontcourt players

De'Quon Lake committed to AZ ST in March 2017 because they had playing time available. At that time we had Jordy and Copeland. We got Doby in April with the thought he would only play 5-10 Minutes. I don't know if we were interested in him, but he probably wasn't interested in Nebraska because of playing time.

Most likely, this will be Roby's last year as well.

  29. To be fair, it’s impossible to quit when you don’t even get off the bus. That team didn’t want to play on Saturday and it showed immediately.

I think this is exactly the type of pickup Nebraska needs. Identify guys who they believe are under-recruited and lock them up early. If he waited for 2nd signing period, he would really have a lot more offers in my opinion. I really think this kid can play.

  34. I don't buy that notion. Michigan fifth-year seniors talked a lot of smack afterwards. They were pissed off that Frost was a bit salty in Ann Arbor two years ago.

Sleepers are good, but we need some studs in this class. A lot of talent is about to walk out the door on graduation day.

    Tickets

Somebody should start a thread regarding buying/selling/transferring tickets. If I'm unable to make a game, I rarely have time to find someone to use my tickets, so the seats are just empty. I would much rather have SOMEONE (of the Husker fan variety) in those seats if I can't be there. I can't think of a better place to find a Nebrasketball fan who would appreciate cheap tickets more than HHC!

    Practice Countdown

Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but Maric led the league in FG% his junior year and was second his senior year. He is still #12 all-time on the Big 12's career FG% chart. He's also 8th on the all-time conference list in rebounds, and 7th all-time in free throw attempts. And to top it off he was a stud on the defensive end. I'm sorry, but there's absolutely no chance that JBD would've had a "more effective" career than Aleks Maric. JBD could've had bionic feet for all it mattered, he still would never have gotten out from Aleks' shadow.

    Practice Countdown

Wait...what? Maric shot 57% in his junior and senior years, despite being the focal point of the opposing defenses night in and night out. He averaged nearly 19 points per game as a junior, and averaged a double double as a senior. You really think a healthy JBD would have been more effective than that??? Man, I feel like people COMPLETELY underestimate just much we relied on Aleks when he was an upperclassman. Those were some very lean times, and Maric was the lone bright spot.

  41. OK, I'm sorry, not trying to beat you up here, but I've watched the video again and you just cannot justify this take based on the videos that were posted. I see a guy with good form on his jumper and a quick catch and release. And his 40% shooting numbers from juco back up that he's accurate and that it's not just an artifact of selective video editing. I see a guy who takes his defender off the dribble going either to his left or right and finishing at the rim. That's not raw. The only thing potentially raw-looking was on a couple of fast break opportunities where he got a steal and got way out in front, he took a couple of small, stutter steps to time his jump for what resulted in amazing dunks. Otherwise, I don't see anything remotely raw about this kid and I don't think it's even arguable.

  42. You have a 6'5 freak of an athletic guard. With that ability and length, he could be an incredible defender at Nebraska and if he wasn't he wouldn't play for Miles so I'm going with he would be an incredible defender for us. Now all of these are highlights and highlights are never a true depiction of a players game but what I saw was a player that could finish at the rim even when not dunking and he dunks a lot with a 45+ inch verticle. He makes a heck of an option on the lob. His team last year had about 6 players averaging between 8 and 14 points. He was at 10. My guess is that means the whole team has bought into the coaches system and plays that way without fighting for the ball. So going out on a limb and I'm saying he could be a good teammate willing to play the role that was asked of him. I saw enough mid-range game in the video to know that he at least some and most players today have no midrange game. His stats say he shot just under four free throws a game at 77.5%. I can live with that % and would predict he could get to the line a lot more if that's what the coaches wanted him to do. Of course, he hit every three in the video but if you look at his stats from last year again he only took 2 threes a game but shot right at 40%. That's a number anyone would be happy with. There is not much elevation on his shot but its a quick release and he has good form so I think the 40% wasn't a fluke. He has some room to fill out and that's something the program is good at. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and the only one that really matters is Miles. My opinion is he is definitely worth a scholarship.
