    Dedoch Chan

Things I like about Chan: 1. He has some size 2. He's immediately eligible and better than a second unused schollie 3. He can score 4. He's immediately eligible and better than a second unused schollie 5. He has three years of eligibilty 6. He's immediately eligible and better than a second unused schollie 7. He gained experience as "the guy" on a decent juco team, which could be useful a year from now 8. He's immediately eligible and better than a second unused schollie

You can be a very good defender and not block any shots and you can block a lot of shots and not really be a good defender. I don't know anything about this kid but personally, I feel the blocked shot is one of the most overrated aspects of the game. How many of them turn into possession for your team?

  5. So you see a kid that should play the 3?

I like the fact that he has 3 years to play. Not your usual situation with a peach schnapps juco player. Makes it more of a "Sex on the Beach" situation than straight peach schnapps, if I can abuse the metaphor a bit. And I say "Sex on the Beach" advisedly, because it's slightly more complex than, say, a "Fuzzy Navel." And a little more appropriate to a family-oriented site than a "Fuck Me Sideways." Just saying.

  7. I know this is covered on our recruiting site, but I don't believe everyone has access rights there. This is big news. The video on this kid makes it appear he has good offensive skills. For a very late pick up, this appears to be a solid addition.

Whenever he's on the radio, my first thought is he joined the player boycott in 96. Sure, he was a freshman, but so was Lue.

Pretty sure that’s not going to happen. You can adjust to your personal but you don’t change your philosophy.

  10. What should not happen this season is that our offensive lineman getting shoved backward by the opposing defensive linemen at the snap of the ball. Over the past few years that seemed to be a recurring theme. When Tommy was the QB, it was not unusual to see nine men chasing after him...four defensive linemen along with our five offensive linemen. Very embarrassing for a team with an offensive front nicknamed the pipeline. Hopefully the aforementioned weight gain also is accompanied by quick feet and increased strength and leverage!

  11. What will be refreshing is watching us not be afraid. We will compete our tails off. The days of having to bring all 11 guys into the box to try to stop Wisconsin from running it on our home field and still failing are going to be a thing of the past.

Let’s be honest. This kid is an insurance policy in the event Isaiah picks up a second foul in the first half. He’s not a post player. He has all the size of a Big Ten wing. But he is long and appears to have some tools in his arsenal that make him serviceable. Aaaaand ... ”He’s immediately available and better than a second unused schollie.” (Hat tip @aphilso1)

Anybody that has seen Heimann play says playing this year wouldn't do anything but hurt him in the long run. He needs the redshirt. We don't know anything about this juco kid. I guess we are all just hoping for the best. It would seem to be the best for Heimann if Dedoch shows up so he can redshirt. Physically I can see similarities with Ubel and think of what he could have been with one move year at Nebraska. You can't change the past so Jack is no longer an option. If this is the best we can do at this time then let's roll the dice and see if he can help.

  17. If he can grow another 3 to 4 inches we might have something. Looks good in the open floor w the ball but his post play won’t translate at his height

We have room and he can be shown the way out if playing time never is going to be there. Happens all the time this day and age. Primary factor should be getting the best rebounder we can get that can play this year and not worry about much else. The roster mismanagement caused a big problem. That part is over with. I wouldn't call it an overreaction to get a body that can rebound.

Wow. Love his film. That's a whole lot of skill at 6'8" and they were running designed plays for him to shoot threes which is a great sign. He fits in perfect with our current roster. He's listed at 215lbs, but he throws every bit of his weight around with good physicality. Great touch around the rim. Very aware of his abilities. Good ball handler and creative scorer. Yes please.
