I'm like a 10+ year lurker on this message board. This was such a bad take that I created an account after 10+ years to let you know how bad of a take this is.

  5. We didn't get in. Fine. But I will never forget how unsupportive the Big Ten and BTN were this season. Unforgettable.

  7. Well Bruce confirmed that this is the only game left that matters to us. He confirmed Davidson will not get an at large, which I was slightly concerned about due to them possibly being lazy and calling it a day. Davidson/Rhode Island - 12pm CBS Rhode Island - 2 1/2 BADLY need Rhode Island. Bruce confirmed that one of the at large teams selected is going to drop out if Davidson wins. Given that we are likely to be in by the hair of our chinny chin chin if we make it, that team could very well be us. My work here is nearly done. It has been a pleasure. I may have one more selection show watch report coming if nobody puts one together. We deserve to be in, but looks like we are pissing into the wind. Too many forces working against us I am afraid. Need some common sense to be deployed. GBR!

  8. Forget the tournament conversations for a moment. I want more seasons like this. The fact that were here in the second week of March and the dialogue on HHC is alive and well is so refreshing. Many of us have been through the years on HHC where conversations tend to die around January, where non-regulars become even more irregular, and those who are champions for sticking it out tend to have conversations about NyQuil, the angle a player's knee bends, and the decor of an opposing player's parent's basement. Thank you all for being here in March. Seriously. I want more seasons like this, both on and off the court. Cheers.

  9. My guess it will be a similar reaction to Herbstreit losing his mind about the best cfb team of all-time tournament in which '71 Nebraska squared off against '95 Nebraska.

  10. Updated Sunday's Games of Interest: Davidson/Rhode Island - really, really, really need URI to pull this one out - a loss by Davidson likely knocks them out of a Quad 1 road win/loss for their opponents The Bubble/Nebraska - We need to stay on top of the bubble to make the tourney Thanks to @HuskerFever and @royalfan for the heavy lifting in this thread

  11. I sincerely appreciate your positivity re: our chances in the tourney. You’ve been saying were in for a long time, consistently. I don’t know that you’ll be right but I like the outlook. I was feeling good early this week but seems like all the conf tourney games have not been favorable. Thanks for keeping the optimism alive!

You cannot be serious right? If we would've went to Omaha and won we would be in the tournament right now if everything else played out the way it did. I understand the hate for Creighton in a rivalry but putting them on the same level as UNO is laughable. Rassmussen DOES NOT hate us. It looks like we weren't really in a position to really be brought up.

  18. I read or heard somewhere that the committee had to keep them in after saying they were one of the first 16 on the first list they put out. Don't know if that is true but... Hope they just get blown out and the "Wonder Kid" goes like 2 for 35 and then everybody can see what a joke that "team" is.
    3 points
  19. I'll be the first to admit that my initial reaction is very salty. Not because we didn't get in. But how do you put in some of that teams that had no success in the 2018 calendar year? That's pathetic.
    3 points
  20. After seeing this I don't believe Nebraska was considered an at-large possibility or even on the committee board after losing to Ohio St. Oklahoma as a 10 is utter bs.
    3 points
  21. screw this. It was a fun grind. Leave it to a bunch of idiots that overanalyze this nonsensical quadrant shit and this is what happens. I knew Bruce was in way over his head after listening to him babble.

  22. Updated alphabetical cheat sheet I'll edit this post during the day as these final results come through - hopefully this makes it easier to follow along as the 68 teams are unveiled alphabetically. If you're looking for an early sign about NU's hopes as they unveil the teams alphabetically, I'd say keep a close eye on the following four teams, which will appear in the first 1/4 of teams unveiled: Alabama - First out of the gate - One of the 5 shakiest "lock" teams - I think they're in, but if they're left out, great sign for NU Arizona State - First bubble team - I think they're out, but it's 50/50 Baylor - Second bubble team, and a bit of a long shot - if they're in, a bad bad bad bad sign for NU Florida State - One of the 5 shakiest "lock" teams, so if they're left out, a great sign for NU If all 4 of these teams are in, my feeling of 30% NU in drops to 5% NU in. If they're all in, the committee isn't buying what NU's resume is selling. If just 1 of these 4 teams are in, I'm going to feel a lot more positive. It means the committee is not relying on the Quads as much as the bracketologist nerds thought. If it's 2 or 3 of these 4 in, I don't think our chances change much, but obviously 2 in would be far better than 3 in. I'd say the other (now) three shaky "lock" teams would be Nevada, Rhode Island, and USC, but they'll be announced after we are, so no help there. KEY: Green and Bold = Automatic Bid (with games to be played today, favorite is listed first) Blue and Italic = Likely At-Large (31 teams) Red and Underlined = Bubble teams (5 spots available) Alabama Arizona Arizona State Arkansas Auburn Baylor Bucknell Buffalo Butler Cal State Fullerton Charleston Cincinnati Clemson Creighton Davidson Duke Florida Florida State Georgia State Gonzaga Houston Iona Kansas Kansas State Kentucky Lipscomb LIU Brooklyn Louisville Loyola-Chicago Marquette Marshall Maryland-Baltimore County Miami Michigan Michigan State Middle Tennessee Missouri Montana Murray State Nebraska Nevada New Mexico State North Carolina North Carolina Central North Carolina State North Carolina-Greensboro Notre Dame Ohio State Oklahoma Oklahoma State Oregon Penn Providence Purdue Radford Rhode Island San Diego State Seton Hall South Dakota State Southern California St. Bonaventure St. Mary’s Stephen F Austin Syracuse Tennessee Texas Texas A&M Texas Christian Texas Southern Texas Tech UCLA (USC listed above as Southern Cal) Utah Villanova Virginia Virginia Tech West Virginia Wichita State Wright State Xavier

  25. Here's the Elephant in the Room: If any other B1G team, ANY OTHER, finished in 4th place with a 13 - 5 record you can bet your a** they would be in. There's a biased held against us because of our history, our Tournament failures, and due to the simple fact that well, we're NEBRASKA. If you think that sounds provincial or paranoid, so be it. I've lived and worked on both Coasts, and you know what people think about Nebraska? They don't

    NIT

The time for pouting is OVER!!! NYC Buckets has us as a NO. 2 seed to St. Mary's as the NO. 1 seed. We can win this quadrant (that's a curse word now): 1. Saint Mary’s8. Hampton4. Boise St.5. Washington3. Oklahoma St.6. Western Kentucky2. Nebraska7. Wagner

  29. It doesn't appear we were even close. While I wish we would have gotten more support from the BIG network, I guess they were right, we probably needed to win two in the tourney to be considered. What a strange year. A lot to be proud of. Metrics just didn't add up.

  30. Not to be rude, but thats BS, you have no idea. Why speculate like that? Other than to get a negative reaction? People that speculate on who stays and who goes are getting tire some. You talk with Cope and Palmer often? If anything this type of thing can unite a group and both would be more likely to come back. Geesh. Rant over.

  31. that's the relevant question and a thread we should have as soon as the offseason blow in. But for now, I think the conference is going to have to have some strict non-conference scheduling rules unless and until RPI is formally ditched. I have to believe there's a mathematical position to take here: no more than 1 300+, tourneys only if there's a reasonable guarantee of no 300+ in losers bracket, that sort of thing. It's just a quick mind belch, but you get the idea. We can't have everything ride on the goofy conference challenge for every team in the conference.

  32. this result wasn't in the conferences interest, either, and Delany's already heard it from most of the schools at this point. I'm sure he's relearned that there's more to his job than just trying to wheedle some more ad revenue.

  37. Rasmussen and company are going to mangle this thing. He and they are in over their head IMO. Making way more complicated than in needs to be, and using the wrong type of data to analyze. Train wreck coming, I can see it already.

  38. Isn't this kind of a reversal of his earlier interviews? Could have sworn he said before that strength of schedule wasn't as important as intent of schedule, and was kind of arbitrary. Not that things didn't change, or maybe that was his own system vs what the committee as a whole wound up doing, but that seems opposite of what I thought he had said earlier, unless I just made all that up. 41. Fellas... either way.... it’s been fun. Hell of a ride. I’ve really enjoyed it. I can’t help but think of the titanic right now. The scene where the guys are still playing on the deck as the ship is sinking and they say “it’s been a pleasure.” Yeah we arent the upper class. Yeah there isn’t enough boats for everyone. However some lower class people still made it onto one of those boats. It doesn’t look good, but there is still a chance. Either way though... hell of a time this year. The rides not over. No matter what happens today.

  42. I fail to understand Loonardi's deep hatred of Nebraska this year. Makes me wonder if he had a bad experience with a corn cob at some point in his past.

  44. The day is finally here. No matter what happens, it’s been a great ride. Much thanks to all those who put so much effort into keeping us all up to date on the most significant games, “metrics,” and Bill Walton quotes. This is by far the best message board out there. GBR!

  45. Hell I've been doing that since I joined the board. I eat, sleep, and drink red kool-aid. I actually think we did fairly well overall for the conference tournament games. It wasn’t a dream scenario where everyone loses, but it also wasn’t terrible for us. We had a lot of games go in the direction that gave the committee something to think about. That is a good thing for us. Keep up the red power... win or lose tomorrow!

  48. Well, if you ignore the fact that the top two teams in that league just aren't all that good, and the two teams on the bottom absolutely stink, and the three teams above the bottom are pretty crappy, and the remaining seven teams are absolutely mediocre, he may be right. Or maybe he's a 78 year old bullsh*t artist.

  49. So heading into the last day, here's what I've got. The following 19 teams are fighting for 10 spots (nine if Davidson beats Rhode Island tomorrow): Group 1: I'd be surprised if any of these teams gets left out. Obviously USC is an auto-bid if they win tonight. Alabama, UCLA, NC State, USC, Florida State Group 2: I see these 11 teams vying for the final five spots (four if URI loses) - I predict the bolded get in Texas, Louisville, Syracuse, Arizona State, Nebraska, St. Mary's, St. Bonaventure, Penn State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Baylor Group 3: I'd be surprised if any of these get in, but maybe it could happen Oklahoma State, Marquette, Middle Tennessee
