  1. Seeing some posts and tweets kind of reminds me of our offense just a complete 180. When our offense is on, the posters/tweeters are off. When our offense is off, the posters/tweeters are on.

  3. 1st Half: That was as good of a start as I can remember NU getting off to in a very long time. They started the game shooting 72%, you knew that wasn't gonna keep up. Foul trouble to Jordy and Duby was problematic. At least one of Duby's was dubious. Roby's injury is worrisome. If he's out for awhile, that makes the front court pretty thin. He appears to have a bit of a catalytic effect on the team as well. Roby being out for a while would be a big blow. The biggest issue of the season for me is still how they're gonna manage when Glynn's off the court. He's not just the straw that stirs the drink, he's the drink a lot of times. too. If Gill is finding his sea legs, that's a huge piece of the Nebrasketball puzzle this season. He and Copeland have really come on as of late. The last two games, NU's played with a lot better energy. They have to play with that and more when the schedule ramps up over the next couple of weeks. The fast start came on the heals of good to great defense. When that disappeared, the offense struggled, big time. A lot of that happened with Roby, Jordy and Duby unavailable and Watson on the bench. 2nd Half: Out of the break, they found the energy again and found the offensive rhythm again. Our big men have to figure out how to turn post feeds into layups or dunks when they get clear looks at the rim. They expose the ball to smaller defenders way too much. I take that back, NU's front court play is the biggest cause for concern right now. Timely bucket from Allen who I think sat and watched the first 35 minutes of the game before getting subbed in unless I missed it. I assume he's progressing from his fall last week? We can't seem to do anything easy. The goal was two wins this weekend. They got it. Big game on Wednesday that's just as much of a must win as this was. I may have more thoughts, but I gotta run for now.

  4. I hope that they don't bring him back until he is healthy. The season is not a sprint, we need him throughout the season. I know we are in the midst of a tough stretch, but Isaiah is an important player for us. We need to be better safe than sorry.

  5. Bad combination of an injury and foul trouble left us with no idea how to defend the paint in both halves. Need to figure that out, especially if Roby is out for longer than a couple of weeks.

  7. Glad we got the "W", but it's apparent moving forward that Duby and Jordy will be our achilles heel. If they aren't going to score they at LEAST need to rebound and stay on the floor.

    This is crazy...

Bama is forced to play with 3 against the Gophers, and only lose by 5. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/21558686/alabama-finishes-game-3-players-entire-bench-ejected-scuffle

  14. We had 23 assists. It would seem as though the LEWIS influence is becoming part of our game. Miles era best. Our most since a feb game vs K-state in 2010

  15. Without Roby back for MSU & Minnesota we have ZERO chance (you saw how thin our front court was stretched without him). Also, I think it's time for Allen to get more minutes. He certainly looks like he's ready, and we need more play makers.

  16. The AD fired the head coach but wants to retain both offensive and defensive coordinators. To me, that limits the head coaches who will want that job.

  17. This was a game of streaks. Thankfully, we prevailed. Long Beach has a decent team. They have a few talented players and works hard on both ends of the floor. Our offensive display during the first fifteen minutes of the first half, and the first seven or eight minutes of the second half were things of beauty. If we can maintain that level of offensive proficiency, life will be good. Defense was hurt for multiple reasons, but the absence of either Isaiah, Jordy or Duby on the floor proves problematic: - Glynn played a tremendous game. He is fun to watch, especially when his shots are falling. But his pesky defense played a significant role at the onset of the game. - Anton played well. Not only offensively, but defensively as well. It is nice having someone who can knock down his three's. - James had a rather pedestrian game. He made some glaring mistakes but then had some significant plays. Need to find a bit of consistency. - Thomas played some minutes and had a ballsie move in crunch time. Good to see him coming around. He is still a liability on the defensive end. - Evan was Evan. He played significant minutes, distributed the ball and played good defense. - Jack was pretty much a no show. Made one nice move to the basket, otherwise meh. - Isaiah was playing well UNTIL his injury. Hopefully it will heal quickly, but I doubt we see him against BC. - I thought Isaac played well. He was fairly quiet on offense, but played good on ball defense. - Tanner did some good things, but if he plays more than two to three minute spurts we will be in a bit of trouble. - Duby most have had a hangover or something. I haven't seen the stats but I believe he had four fouls in five minutes. THAT CAN'T HAPPEN - Jordy is starting to concern me. He needs to get his poop in a group. He is a necessary presence for us, proven by what happened against us in the paint today. We need 6 to 10 points, 25 hard minutes, 5 to 8 rebounds and interior defense from him. Those are must haves. We need to improve interior defense and rebounding. Nice win! We needed to come back from this tournament at least 2-1 and did. Now we need to continue to improve. But man, we played a few spurts of basketball that was amazing. Grade B-

  19. So I'm watching this roundtable after the game with Coach K, Boeheim and Roy Williams (as if they needed any more publicity — and shouldn't they be out paying recruits?), and I'm wondering if they're ever put in a position of having their top three post players out of a game because of foul trouble and/or injuries. How often are they forced to make-do with a stretch forward playing the 5? Sure, they have 13 all-Americans on the roster, but I'm betting officials never let things get to that point for these guys. I'm sure it's just sour grapes, but I'm tired of our coaches having to beg for just a little of the advantages these "legends" get during the course of a game and a season. (Cough, Bill Self, cough.)

  20. Rolled his ankle in the first half. Apparently a low ankle sprain. Degree of injury not yet disclosed.

  21. Goodness, we get called on everything, and they are getting no calls. It sort of makes me feel as if the officials are attempting to keep the game close. Just a feeling ya know.

  24. Good start to the second half. We continue to experiment with line ups and some of the experiments are problematic. Tanner earned time, but it should not be more than two minute bursts.

  30. Jack gives up threes because he doesn’t want to get beat on the drive. Half the time on the floor is spent playing defense. The other half is where he could earn some minutes but he hasn’t been very good at that end either so far, so he’s been watching a lot of the games from the best seats in the house.

  31. Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-2) vs Long Beach State 49ers (3-3) **ADVOCARE INVITATIONAL ** Date: Sunday, Nov. 26 Time: 1:30ish p.m. (20 minutes after St. John's - UCF game)Arena: HP Arena TV Broadcast: ESPNU, WatchESPN.com Lon Beach State Head Coach: Dan Monson Location: Long Beach, CA Conference: Big West Conference Nickname: 493rs Mascot: Prospector Pete Last time out: Beat Oregon St Typical Rotation Depth: 10+ Line: Nebraska by 7 4 Factors Tempo: Shoot quickly Style: Multiple zones, man vs man, or whatever he comes up with on the John. Offensively, quickly get to the rim. Impress your friends fact: Dan Monson got his start at Gonzaga and is the son of long time coach Don Monson Impress your friends fact: Monson coached at Minnesota and when he quit mid-season in 2006, his then assistant Jim Molinari took over as coach Impress your friends fact: Due to scheduling, LBSU has played Oregon St twice already Player to watch: Gabe Levin The 6'7" 240 lb Sr is the 49ers leading scorer and one of three guys in double figures. What really sets him apart is he's the only guy averaging over 4 rebounds a game (8.3) The Skinny: The Huskers have thus far played in a pattern of bad game followed by good game with Eastern Illinois being bad enough for us to still be 4-2. This is a 49er team punchy enough to knock off a Power 5 team that isn't bringing it, especially from defense, as they showed vs Oregon St. On offense the 49ers are fast strike, often taking the first available shot. They're mostly trying to drive to the hoop but they're also not afraid to work the ball around a jack up a 3 or whatever the situation. Long Beach St is pretty sloppy with the ball so the name of the game is simply getting set on defense and blocking a lot of their junk to the rim. Most of the 49ers are capable of taking a 3pt shot but the guy to watch out for is Bryan Alberts as he's taken 43 of their 124 attempts. Defensively the Huskers need to not be too mesmerized by the constantly changing defenses. I saw Long Beach run some 3/4 court pressure that they'd occasionally trap with and that fell into a 2-3 zone. I saw a 1-3-1, man, and that was just during the 10 minutes of game I scrolled through. Nebraska needs to continue to rotate the ball around, get Issac and Jordy working inside, get Palmer driving, and Watson hitting shots. The defenses might be varied, but they haven't really been stopping anyone. There should be plenty of offense from fast breaks and FTs to augment an off shooting day here. Do the Huskers finally break their pattern of following up great games by tanking? Prediction: Nebraska 80 - Long Beach St 65 View full article

  34. Might be the jaysker factor there, Norm. "Kenneth" gives that away. I'll concede there isn't as much venom directed at Mike Riley today as there was at Doc but I did see someone comment that they think Riley should be ashamed and promise to give back all the money he "stole" from the University. There are some pretty ignorant people out there saying some pretty ignorant things.

I've been thinking that scoring this season seems to be up in College Hoops. I assume it's due to the shorter shot clock and the freedom of movement rules finally paying off.

  37. Here's the most important Stat to me: Official Attendance: 175 (& only 200 @ the Buffalo Game) I think it would be hard for Any team to get 'Up' for a game played on the road in an empty Gym. (not to mention the lackadaisical announcing - when they announced anything at all)

  40. Marist will hurt the ol' SOS but I think the neutral game will soften the blow. Long Beach St tends to do alright in the wins department so it should be a net negative. If this is a team with a tough schedule in need of some confidence games, it helps in that regard. At the end of the day you are what you're records is, as Miles likes to say. Right now our record is we haven't beaten anyone of note.
