  1. The men's team's board is called "Haymarket Hardwood," not "Nebraska Men's Basketball." I think the women's board should be renamed "Row 6, Seat 10."

  2. I am just going to have to throw this out there.... Nebraska HAS to win an NCAA Tourney game this year! We have to!! We sports fans have sacrificed The Core Royals last season The US Making the World Cup 2018 Nebraska Football Bowl Eligibility (Latest projections have us out in some) Tom Petty I just... don't think my heart can live with any negative sports news.

  3. 'You guys lost your most prolific scorer, your most efficient post scorer, and you sucked last year' is fairly accurate. Just listening to KenPom on a podcast yesterday he bases most of his pre-season projections on the previous years results because on the whole that is going to be remarkably accurate (he adjusts for coaches, transfers, high end freshmen, etc) We know all the new variables that are coming into this season but they are just that....variables where we need most everyone to meet or exceed expectations while also staying healthy. Let's hope this year's chemistry reports possibly translating into better team play also meets or exceeds expectations.

  4. He'll probably play more than 8. It just depends how much PT those other players get. Hard to believe Okeke won't play at all because its hard to believe Tshimanga will suddenly be able to stay out of foul trouble completely and play 30 minutes every game. As far as Okeke having 20 pounds on Copeland and Roby, that 20 pounds matters a lot. Nana won't redshirt but he's not going to be a regular rotation player either. The Horne comparison is a decent one as far as what his role might be. I'd imagine Watson, Taylor, Palmer and Allen is your core backcourt. Roby, Copeland and McVeigh are your forwards and Tshimanga and Okeke are your bigs. That's 9, which I'm guessing is the most likely way things shake out. Akenten and Borchardt may see the floor as the situation calls for it but won't be part of the regular rotation. Gill is probably in this group as well. The thing is that on top of recovering from his injury, he would actually have to beat out Taylor, Palmer and Allen for minutes. To this point, his high school accolades and I guess that scrimmage performance I see referenced here are the biggest things he has going for him. His play to this point certainly wouldn't necessitate that he gets minutes.

  5. Let me just add something, Dlrrk; a quote from Row6Seat10, made earlier in July re: Predictions for this season's non-con record.

  6. Heartily Endorsed! (I was thinking maybe something like "Brian's Forum' or 'Brian's WBB' but I think Norm has a good take, maybe everyone will always take a look at 'the seat' when going to WBB games.) Just to add a thought, I'm so very glad FastBreaker expressed this sentiment in another thread; and that Row6Seat10 knows of the high regard we have for him.

And obviously Taylor will play a lot and have great moments. She is long talented and scores in bunches. Physicality will b an adjustment but she played high level club and has been around it. Cross our fingers she can stay healthy and utilize her skills and talents. Again, however, people need to be patient. Bcs level basketball is a major jump for kids and takes time

Maddie is going to play a lot at the stretch 4 and do well -- nicea and Hannah should b ready to have very nice seasons now that they have a year under their belt. -- I would not be surprised if Jas surprises people and I hope she does because she is a nice kid and deserves it -- we desperately need Rachel to stay healthy enough to play a lot -- Kate is a big strong kid and good talent. People need to remember she is young and the speed of the gm bothers most posts for a considerable time while as they adjust (Jess was an exception as a freshman not the rule ) -- Bria and Janae both add needed athleticism Bria has all the physical tools and skills to be a very good pg Biggest adjustment willl be learning to b a vocal leader at a position that needs to b vocal -- darrien has lost weight and is moving better and healthy and will show flashes of athelticism that surprise people - grace will battle her tail off and should b more comfortable as a soph - all 12 kids including Emily will play some because we only have 12, and its girls bball so people will always b banged up -- team chemistry and sr leadership are way better and schedule is more manageable -- toxicity is gone and coaches can truly coach.-- tough situation last year when the most talented player doesn't buy in Creates a toxicity that cannot be under estimated. -- we will still have ups and downs but the program will steadily begin to return to where the fan base wants it. We have a very good 2018 class signed and r in on some great 2019 and 2020 kids. Young players are now being exposed to a work rate and work ethic that is needed and have good upperclass examples to follow

  13. Actually, I think he's playing up. The other guy on his team, #15, is Jarvis Thomas, a 2018 prospect in the Rivals 150. The first few clips, it looks like he's playing against guys about his size. There are some clips where he's going up against someone shorter and I wonder if that was just a mismatch on a switch defensively. He has some work to do on his shot. I do not like the way his right, shooting hand crosses the center line of his body when he loads to shoot. He's basically shooting from his left eye, across his body, with his right elbow out and his right forearm up at about a 60* angle. Maybe even 45*. It works for Lonzo Ball but better mechanics will lead to better shooting for nearly everyone else. I'd hope he could get some film of just him shooting from various angles so that he can see what he looks like. He still has time to fix it.

  15. And maybe not even this. He didn't log big minutes at Winthrop. I view him more as a luxury. His role is entirely spark-plays: block shots and dunk the ball. He's an offensive liability. I'm sure he'd be the first to admit this. When considering he's shorter than Copeland and only outweighs Copeland and Roby by 20lbs, I can definitely see the rationale for not having in the top 8.

  16. 8-man rotation doesn't mean only 8 guys play. Just means regular subbing rotation in a perfect world. As soon as fouls, match-ups, and whatnot come into play you end up playing more guys.

  17. Maybe Miles said that just to keep his players on their toes.

  18. I don't see how Duby Okeke could NOT be included in the rotation. Any rotation (8-man, 10-man, whatever) HAS to include Okeke. We didn't sign him to NOT play him.

  20. Possibly two freshmen centers in one class. Im assuming one of them has to be ready to play while the other redshirts. Are either Thamba or Hieman capable of playing the 4? I guess i didnt think of Roberts with this offer. My initial thought was maybe Hieman flipping to Creighton since Creighton is now in the market for a big.

  21. 8.. hmm.. Watson Taylor Roby Copeland Jordy Bench: Allen Palmer Jack I guess that's my guess. It would mean that Roby and Copeland get huge minutes and swing the 3-4-5 and would fill for Jordy rather than bring in Okeke or Tanner.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. As others have stated, your contributions to this website got me interested in women's basketball and was my main source of information on the status of the program. You will truly be missed by all of us who visit this forum. RIP my brother.

http://mason.gmu.edu/~rmatz/giamatti.html .... the link is for 49er. It is the traditional ending to the season essay on the SOSH website. And for those who may not have read this piece before, the first and last paragraphs have some relevance to anyone who follows a team sport. Moonlight carried me through another summer, but now I'll rely on trusty old Norman Dale for an even better winter.

  31. What he really meant-- "They had me playing the 3 because I would have been behind multiple guys at the 4 this year. I wanted to actually play at the 4 and therefore transferred."

  33. That's the big question. We turned Nick Fuller from a 3 star to a 2 star trying to fix his shot. (someone correct me if I'm wrong on this)
