That's odd. Creighton players all have four-letter nicknames in my household.3 points

is it coincidence that in the first major sporting event of the post-Eichorst era a scuffling NU volleyball team goes in to Happy Valley and sweeps the PSU lions? A feat not accomplished by any volleyball team since 2003?1 point -
It's pretty hard to separate because the athletic department is driven by football. If we went to the tourney last year and even won a game, would Eichorst still have a job? Maybe but probably not. The hire is going to be driven by football. It's hard to get away from it and obviously most of us are fans of all of the Nebraska teams here. I personally just gloss over the discussion of what offense the next football coach might run at the point we might need another coach because what does that even matter here and now? But it's the offseason and everyone here is pretty good about moderating themselves without requiring much input from me.1 point

If the point to posting here is to increase viewership at Hail Varsity, you might want to re-evaluate your approach.1 point

I hadn't read the entire thread. I saw Cazzie22's mention of the triple option when you quoted him, so I figured someone had been asking for Nebraska to run it. My comment was more in general (not specifically in regard to your post) to those who I thought were calling for Nebraska to "bring back" the triple option (that wasn't ever really here to begin with). And now looking back at the thread, I see those people didn't really exist in this discussion.1 point

He never said that... Or I didnt read it that way. He said nothing more than we didnt run a triple option in our heyday. He is correct.1 point

This seems like an appropriate place to include the only Creighton news I have read (and it was a fluke... someone re-tweeted it that covers college hoops right now).... so here's to a Blue Jay obsessing on a Husker message board.1 point -

Never heard of an Australian Husker being referred to as a Lumber "Jack" and I have no idea who that is (because I don't care) but no doubt his name is *not* Jack.1 point -

Talked to Thomas Allen among others today. The 6'1" he's listed at is generous. He'll probably play some with Watson, but for those expecting him to start at the 2, it is probably going to be hard to defend a lot of Big Ten backcourts with a Watson-Allen duo. He says he's a point guard.1 point -

2018 PF Nate Roberts -> Washington
Cowboy Kermit reacted to Swan88 for a topic
Ha! According to Wiki, Jim Boeheim's birthdate is November 17, 1944. That means he's approaching his 73rd birthday. His current wife is 21 years his junior. On a recruiting note, check out this article. Here's what the article says about Nebraska: In talking about Nebraska, Roberts talked about how Nebraska coach Tim Miles wants Roberts to help rebuild the program. One other interesting note. Roberts mentions Nebraska assistant Kenya Hunter, who is a native of Arlington, Va., and previously worked as an assistant at Georgetown. "Coach Miles and Coach Hunter have been recruiting me for some time now. They constantly talk to me about the plan they have ready for me and the tools I would be given if I were to go there. Both coaches' relationships with me have been great. The program is not necessarily in a rebuilding process, but they want to make the right steps to get them over the edge and by recruiting me they believe I am one of those pieces that can help do that.''1 point -

If the women pick it up bunch, then the staff may be one of the good parts for the new Ad to see. ...time will tell, but for the new AD, seeing a positive future for the program is everything. Good recruiting classes coming in....how fast can they contribute?. That Coach Amy is recruiting well right out of the gate ... is a good sign. Anxious to see how this team progresses this fall, and develops. It will not go unnoticed by the new AD...one way or the another. The first and biggest fill will most likely be football. That was the most "unlikely" hire to start with. Never made since to me. Riley never was a consistent winner...anywhere. ...and maybe men's basketball. But I do like coach MIles. Recruiting to here has always seemed to be an issue, for most men's basketball coaches we've had. Lots of turnover too. Actually Danny Nee was able get some future NBA talent. But that whole men's issue is best left for another forum. NU athletics is on the front page again....maybe not for the best reasons, but is getting talked about.1 point -

I would think Coach a Williams will be a little nervous. Eichorst didn't conduct much of a search in selecting her, similar to Riley.1 point -

Don't think new coaches all over the place will happen. Maybe one big one over the next couple of weeks depending how the football team performs. A new AD will come and evaluate all programs looking for ways for the teams to improve. After football the only other possibility I see near term would be MBB coach depending on how the team does this year.1 point -
