    Availability

The amount of injuries sustained by the womens basketball team at NU is ridiculous! IMO,Eichorst and Boehm should be giving this situation their utmost attention. Trainers, coaches and the administrators need to put their heads together and figure out why this has been going on for literally years. I would hope that the attention this situation merits would have been a focal point long ago,and it probably has. The problem, once again,IMO, with the womens bball program,is a lack of information available to the fans.Like I said, this injury situation HAS to have been addressed hasn't it? The problem is we obviously aren't privy to information regarding the team.To me, as an avid fan of the team,it's maddening! I suspect others are frustrated as well. As an example,in regards to the football team, there are several sites one can visit and find out how the daily practices went, who stood out,who needs to step it up,INJURIES,perceived depth charts, what recruits we're after etc. I understand the difference in interest level between football and womens basketball is extreme to say the least, but would it kill someone, maybe a coach, to share some info with their fans? There are 4-8 thousand fans at home games, plus a ton of others, that would just like to know more about the team they follow and care about. End of rant.

    UNO: 2 Numbers

    120. 609. For some reason, UNO was the darling of many on the main board this year. Some even contended UNO would beat the Huskers. I noted a couple of months ago that it doesn't play defense. Several posters objected to that thought. One true believer even suggested that giving up a lot of points isn't indicative of poor defense. Well, I could still be the one who is wrong, but UNO gave up 120 last night to end its season. It was flashy, scoring 80 points in the second half. But it's still a loss. One other highlight of the UNO-Duquesne game: Attendance(game was in Pittsburgh) was 609. Somebody lost some money on that one.

  5. The five teams with the weakest interior play in the Big Ten were Rutgers, Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraska, and Penn State. That's a pretty strong correlation with who finished in the last five spots in the conference. (100%)

  7. Both if you can. as of right now, we can only add 1. could change in the next couple weeks, but right now it's 1 I doubt Miles is recruiting like he only has 1 scholorship to give. If he can find a good freshmen big and a guy who could average 12&7 he's going to make room for them IMO.

    0-7 : Revisited

I prefer to look at how close we actually are this year. Some key injuries at the wrong time took us down: no Shavon at Wisconsin, no Shavon and no Ed in multiple games, and a <100% Shavon, Ed, Andrew, etc., at the same time in several games. With those injuries, a lack of depth is the real killer this year, resulting in some heart-breaking and close losses. But the development of our freshmen and the influx of high-quality new talent will solve a significant part of the depth problem 2015-16 is an "almost" year with better days ahead. The 2015-16 season and recruiting commitments actually show a program on the rise, with great young talent to build upon.

  11. I disagree. The shot clock would certainly create extra possessions, which almost certainly should lead to extra scoring In college basketball this year, scoring is up. Likewise the number of possessions per game is also up, which is almost certainly due to the shorter clock. Scoring is up...but more due to the freedom of movement. When the shot clock went from 45 to 35, scoring went down over a period of years. If grabbing and clutching gets allowed again, the 30 second clock will reduce scoring...more good possessions will lead to more scoring, but more bad possessions won't. I understand the freedom of movement, but what grates me about it is that it is called only up top. You have bigs getting mauled as they try to move down low and there is no call.

    The 2016 Transfer Thread

Has he actually declared he is going to transfer or is that just what everyone expects to happen? Also we've recruited him in the past

  14. He originally committed to Saint Mary's. I bet they or a small school like that have the inside track

  15. Considering the fact that Shavon and Benny will be leaving the program, and Roby and Horne will be replacing them...couldn't it technically be said that roster turnover is already a guarantee? Pedantic, I know, and I realize that's not what Rosenthal meant, nor do I think that's what Miles meant in his response, but still. "Roster turnover" happens every year.

Something tells me we draw less than that for a CBI game. Also, was the turnaround in schedule too fast for them to do a groupon?

  18. Can't really put the miss on the Miles and the coaching staff. Seems like the SDSU coaches thought he might have been a reach even for Summit League level of basketball.

  19. Do you guys really think that teams are stalling that much in high school basketball today? I see a lot of games and don't see it as an issue. I always felt that if you have guards that are good enough to stall for long periods, they are good enough to score. I think it is part of the game and like to watch disciplined teams look for good shots. The game is not always just for the fans. To me it is like telling a football team that running the ball is boring so you have to pass on every down.

  20. his rivals page shows he had around 8 D1 offers, so it seems unlikely he would have walked on here. but like i said earlier, we've had an open scholarship for the last 4 years. I think it is so much harder to get a kid to walk on anywhere than it was in the past. College tuition costs have exploded and increases have far exceeded the cost of inflation. Quite simply, many families simply cannot afford college for their kids and when presented with a free option are more apt to take the free option than straddle a kid or themselves with ridiculously high levels of student loan debt that can be a burden for up to 20 years after graduation.

'14 NU team was very mental fragile. I think that got exposed after our complete meltdown against OSU in the conference tourney. They looked like they had no confidence with anything after that game and through our Baylor loss as well. They were also very strong mentally when things were going good. Almost like they didn't think they could lose during that long winning streak we had at the end of the year. There was never really a balance. I think that if you put that team in our situation this year, they would have had more than a 4 game winning streak that we had when we beat MSU, Rutgers, Minny, and Illinois. Likewise though, I think we lose to Rutgers and if not, certainly Wisconsin in the tourney. Just based on the losing streak that we endured to end the year.
