  1. This seems to be a bad situation to me. Travel all afternoon to a place that is difficult to get to and then have to play with no shoot around. I would say WSU has got us right where they want us.

  2. Walt also submitted his name to find out what he needs to work on. I can guarantee you the main focus for him to work the post is more than Miles saying he needs to get better at it, its the NBA which is Walt's main goal. If he wants to reach his end goal becoming a better post player will be expected beyond NU's expectations of what they want from him in the post.

  3. I think its just an adjustment of him wanting to being a post guy. Its like a hitter in baseball or golf changing their swing. It will take some time to adjust and some mental issues to get over but in the end things should work out. He needs to find a good happy medium imo to do his post work but also get out on the wing to shoot.

  4. I applaud the effort but college basketball +/- tend to be worthless, especially on the game level. I agree if you are looking at it to evaluate individuals. I will disagree in that in that it is very helpful when looking at it from a lineup perspective and trying to find winning rotations.

  5. By my count, Miles played 19 different sets of players on the floor last night. Surprisingly, the group that did the worst from a +/- perspective was the starting unit. It appears we are strongest when we go a big lineup with Parker at point of Parker/Petteway/Shields/Rivers and either Abraham or Pitchford. Both of those groups were each +7 when on the floor. I'll have to take a look at the N. Kentucky game to see how that stacked up. Webster/Petteway/Shields/Rivers/Pitchford: 20:00 to 16:27 - -4 (trail 11-7) 20:00 to 16:32 - -4 (led 47-42) 6:25 to 5:29 - -1 (led 71-49) Total : -9 +/- Parker/Petteway/Shields/Rivers/Abraham: 16:27 to 14:03 - +7 (led 14-11) Parker/Smith/Webster/Rivers/Abraham: 14:03 to 13:50 - -1 (led 14-12) Parker/Smith/Webster/Shields/Abraham: 13:50 to 12:57 - 0 (led 16-14) Parker/Smith/Webster/Shields/Pitchford: 12:57 to 10:37 - +3 (led 21-16) Parker/Smith/Petteway/Shields/Pitchford: 10:37 to 9:54 - -2 (led 21-18) Parker/Smith/Petteway/Shields/Abraham: 9:54 to 8:56 - 0 (led 21-18) Parker/Smith/Petteway/Shields/Hammond: 8:56 to 8:51 - +2 (led 23-18) Parker/Webster/Petteway/Shields/Hammond: 8:51 to 5:11 - -1 (led 30-26) Parker/Webster/Petteway/Shields/Abraham: 5:11 to :23 - +5 (led 43 - 34) Parker/Webster/Petteway/Shields/Pitchford: :23 to :00 - 0 (led 43-34) Parker/Webster/Petteway/Shields/Rivers: 16:32 to 15:26 - +4 (led 51-42) Parker/Smith/Petteway/Rivers/Pitchford 15:26 to 14:16 - +2 (led 53-42) Parker/Smith/Shields/Rivers/Pitchford 14:16 to 9:43 - +4 (led 61-46) Parker/Petteway/Shields/Rivers/Pitchford 9:43 to 7:51 - +7 (led 68-46) Webster/Petteway/Shields/Rivers/Abraham 7:51 to 6:25 - +1 (led 71-48) Smith/Webster/Fuller/Rivers/Pitchford 5:29 to 3:59 - +1 (led 73-50) Smith/Webster/Fuller/Rivers/Hammond 3:59 to 2:57 - +6 (led 79-50) Smith/Menke/Fuller/Kurkowski/Hammond 2:57 to :00 - -3 (led 82-56)

  8. I'm excited for this game. They're pushing for a sellout a it's gonna be good to see how the Huskers respond to the challenge. This is a great opportunity for this team.

    Scouting Rhode Island

It'll be a stout test for our team, no doubt, but if we have any ambition whatsoever of a top 4 league finish, it's a game we shouldn't have any trouble winning, IMO. I'm worried about this game. Then again, I worry about most games, so...

  10. Yet, just like election night it is only fun for one side...red or blue. The blue side won't have as much fun because our hallways aren't nearly as nice as the ones they have...and we don't have beer.

  11. Games that are worth watching... Penn St is only a 3-point favorite against Charlotte. Iowa is a 6-point underdog to Texas. Indiana is a 3-point underdog to SMU. Losing only two conference games tonight would be acceptable, losing only one would be great. Losing three would hurt. Non-conference games are so key for RPI purposes down the road.

  12. That, and maybe our speed at guard may get more points going to the basket in the half court game.....and the speed can create some fast break points...T, Rachel, Brandi, Romeo, and others...... all the guards may be a new and more used phase of our game...tonight and all year. We may well be a bit more of a 3 shooting team too. We just may be a different kind of team offensively this year. We'll also have some speed at wing also that can be used to our advantage.

  13. Well, until he has heard about that and tweets something, Fuller doesn't have turf toe.

Is Walt going to be ok??

Walt is who he is and that is not a post player. I wish we would quit trying to jam a square peg in a round hole and start building on his strengths. Let him be the guy that everyone wants Fuller to be and let him be a sharp shooter from the corner. Our offense doesn't suit feeding Walt anyway. He isn't the type of player who will break his defender down and beat him to the rim. He moves well without the ball and pops open for threes a couple times a game. If everyone would quit trying to make him a back to the basket post player I think it would free him up and we might just see the Walt that we saw during that nice run in 2013-14.

  16. Speaking of Creighton, I wish they hadn't deleted their "Delusional" thread on the Underground site because some of them had some pretty choice things to say about Tarin Smith and his anticipated ability (they figured he was going to suck) compared to their tandem of Rivals 150 recruits. Let's tally some results, shall we? In two games, Tarin Smith has logged a total of 32 minutes (that's an average of 16 min/game for those of you living or attending college east of 72nd Street in Omaha). He is averaging exactly 5 points per game, 1 assist, 0.5 rebounds, 0.5 steals and NO turnovers. In 16 minutes per game. Meanwhile, Creighton's Rivals 150 recruits have combined season totals (in 2 games) of 12 minutes, 2 rebounds, 2 turnovers and 2 points.1 1 Full disclosure: Those are stats for only one player; Creighton's 2nd Rivals 150 recruit was not ready for the college game and so is sitting out this season as a redshirt.

  17. I applaud the effort but college basketball +/- tend to be worthless, especially on the game level. I agree if you are looking at it to evaluate individuals. I will disagree in that in that it is very helpful when looking at it from a lineup perspective and trying to find winning rotations. Does the +/- take into account the opposing players who are on the floor at the time? If not, wouldn't you have to factor that into the formula. If LeBron is playing against Kobe, his stats are going to look different than if he was playing against a less skilled player. In the game last night, it seemed that CA starters were off the floor by the first media time out. If so, are you comparing apples to apples? Not trying to get in an argument about +/-. I was more interested in seeing how many different lineups Miles played last night and the +/- was easy enough to track when I was pulling that research, so I did and shared my findings. Take from it what you would like.

  19. Turned down tickets because of the cold? Also, you thought KU was the number 2 team before last night? Lol... Re-read his post. I believe he is implying that the #1 and #2 teams in America play on Kentucky's team (they go with the "platoon" subbing). So basically UK's starters are the #1 team in America and the 2nd 5 are the #2 team in America.

  21. Bump I was just looking around tonight to see if any other websites had anything about the basketball game. Nothing really out there but thought I would look at what people were saying about the football team. Holy crap, I really think there are guys over at some of those sites who are not mentally stable. I know we will always have civil decussions on here and that is what I truely love about being on here. Ain't ever going any where else, it scared me. P.S. I didn't know that Kenny Bell was that hated by so much of the fan base. One guy said that he will cheer extra loud when they say Kenny's name on Saturday because it will be the last time he has to hear it in Memorial Stadium.

  22. Their first year in Div 1 was last year. They're in the same conference as Cent. Arkansas and higher rated in KenPom Y'know, when an "r" and an "n" are right next to each other in Ariel font, it can look like an "m." Conversely, an "m" can sometimes look like an "r" next to an "n." So it was when I looked at the last word of your post, there. And I thought, "Hmmm, that would be an interesting new site." What would Barbie say? Oooh! Is that the large pizza with extra sausage that I ordered?
