  1. I had talked to a few managers the other night and they said Fuller has come on very strong in practices the last 4-6 weeks and could of definitely be playing major minutes this year if he didnt redshirt last November. I went online and facebooked Fuller this past week and asked him how things were going with his redshirt this season and he said really well as he is now at 205lb and strength coach Wilson wants to see him at 215lb by June. He said he was at 192 when he decided to redshirt last November. Fuller said it has been hard to watch and not help the team this year, but he sees the big picture in the coming years and expects to be ready to contribute. He has learned a ton by watching all the games so far and cant wait. Good news for next year as he will be a freshman with Hammond

  2. - DVR didn't record like I asked it to, so I missed the first hal of the first half. That was really frustrating. First play I saw was Tai's dish to Smith. That was sick. So, I don't know what happened before that. - I heard some things about sloppiness, poor shot selection, solid play by Webster, ball movement. I don't know. I didn't get to see it. - Thought they played pretty well from what I saw. Had an answer for just about everything Purdue had. - On that last possiession of the first half, I don't have a problem with Biggs when he can get to the rim like that, but he MUST finish. Must, must, must. I like what he did the possession before, recognizing Hammons was out and taking it right at the heart of the Purdue D. More of that, just finish. - Thought the offense was a little stagnant in the middle of the second half. Thought they picked it up when Biggs came back in. - Purdue a little sloppy in the second half as well. - Petteway a bit out of sorts today but better when he attacked the rim. Loosened up a bit the end of the half. - Zone was pretty effective. - How the eff was that a charge? - Not sure I'd call it a breakout game for Tai, but this was his best game yet, at least since FGCU. - Hammons is a beast. - Couple of big misses by Shields on the line. - Critical turnovers down the stretch. - No field goals from the 7:16 mark to Petteway's lay up with 43.9 left. Why is this a continual problem? That was the only FG in that time and a single FT was the only other point. - That stretch with two turnovers, two missed FT's an air-ball and missed rebound off the miss killed this team. - 0-4 for the third year in a row. Ugh... I like that this team continues to fight, but these two were winnable games. It's going to be so tough to win vs. Ohio State. Some winnable games come after that, but it would have been really great to win these past two. I think these guys will continue to get after it, but it's likely to get worse before it gets better.

  3. Heck with that. Our next win chance is Ohio State.

  4. Lots of people on this board have been calling for Biggs to start ahead of Webster but how about Biggs start ahead of Gallegos. He just seems to disappear in games and only takes one shot the entire second half and it was not a good one. I like the backcourt of having Biggs and Webster in at the same time. This was a team we were better than and we still can't get a win. This season continues to get more frustrating with every game. Good teams find a way to win and bad teams find ways to lose. You aren't going to win many games with the scoring droughts we go on. Just riduculous.

    2014 PG Vasilije Pusica

Plays for the same school as Keanu Pinder. According to Robin Washut on twitter, he is on the verge of an offer and official visit. Looks like a really good shooter and can play point guard. He scored 22 against Brewster Academy at the City of Palms Classic. Don't know about his other offers, but a shooter who can play point is a win-win. Hope we can get him and then add another athletic big like Deng Deng and that would be a good finish to the 2014 recruiting season.

  8. First I wanted to make a topic that every single letter started with "S" and it make sense. As for Shavon I really think right now that sophomore slump is really hitting him hard. I love Shavon as a person and think he has the game but for some reason it really hasnt been there since FGCU. I mean he's missed a ton easy bunnies all year long and his outside shot has been off, badly for some games, and just looks completely frazzled out on the court. I dont want to sounds like I dont want him to be successful by any means and think hes a tremendous player but for whatever reason his game lately has been a round peg in a square hole. Im sure I will take some flack and push back but this team right now isnt working well with him getting as minutes as he is, but like Miles has mentioned are a few men short so who takes away a few minutes. I still want him out there to get his groove back like Stella but until that happens its not helping the team with his play.

  9. NU's switch to the zone defense early in the 2nd half really frustrated Purdue and allowed NU to surge to the lead. NU was down 48-44 and went primarily zone from there with 12-1/2 min left. We ended up going +7 over the next 6 minutes, getting quite a few runouts off turnovers. Once PU stopped turning the ball over vs the zone though, our struggles/poor decisions in the half court offense rose up again, primarily whenever Hammons was in the game. And we should have been +9 or +10 - that call vs Biggs was beyond horrible. When I saw the ref waving it off I thought, he can't possibly be calling that on the floor can he? Never in a million years did I expect him to throw his hand behind his head as well. Not only was the defender still moving, but he had his arms nowhere near vertical. Would have given us a 49-48 lead with the and one. When you consider Smith seemed set on a bucket in the first half & Shields appeared to draw a charge vs Hammons in the first half on the play where he was shaken up, but Smith was called for a foul & Shields got a no call, the call vs Biggs was even worse. With the new block-charge rules, I could understand those two that went against NU's defenders in the first half, but the one vs Biggs wasn't even close. Still it was our poor shot selection and quick shots that killed us ultimately. The first half was a disaster in terms of half court offense, yet PU played poorly enough to let us stay in the game. NU never really got into a rhythm offensively, outside of that flurry of turnovers PU had vs the NU zone, when most of NU's points came in transition.

  10. Shields is 9-37 the last five games......I think it's time Rivers gets another shot. Tai played much better this game IMO. Nothing special on the stat sheet but a better game by him.

  20. The off side defender will not get a charge call this year. it is just the way it is being called this year, so... Might as well try to block the shot because just getting run over by standing there is going to be called a block every time ever if it isn't. Ref can't see if the guy is set when the player starts his "towards the basket move". Kind of like runner leaving the bag early in baseball.

Very well put. "The fans need to get into it" stuff is beyond lame. (somebody can provide an appropriate youtube clip here) Maybe at halftime the true fans who know what the rest of us are supposed to do should gather at midcourt and show us how to do it.

  27. Hey, Norm, thought you'd enjoy reading the following post on Michigan's free Rivals board from a Michigan fan who seems to support your view: "We played well enough to win but I don't remember winning a big ten road game where so many bounces and 50/50 calls by the refs went our way. Not saying certain calls were wrong just, sayin..."

    Biggs

Benny > Tai at this point. They both can't play offense and Benny is better at defense Are you kidding? Tai actually was good last night. He made his only bucket, did not have a single turnover in 28 minutes, had 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. He drove the lane and kicked out to wide open three-point shooters at least 3 or 4 times, and we missed a few of them. Tai was pretty good last night. My question is this: what happened to the guy who used to drive the lane at every opportunity? Where's the guy who got to the line 4-5 times per game? Granted, he had trouble finishing and also had trouble sinking free throws, but I want that guy back. I feel that Tai went into a bit of a shell offensively after the Charleston Classic, to the extent that he's trying too hard to be selfless and rack up assists instead of looking to score. He's got to find a happy medium between those two extremes, because he's one of our best dribble-drive guys, and we need teams to respect his ability there. I feel he's been too passive lately.
