    2016-17 Roster

Basically what we're saying is there is a lot of stuff to be excited for and to keep an eye on next season. -What kind of jump is Glynn gonna make? Most of us expect it to be a big one. -Can Tai maintain or improve his production from last year? -Is Anton the real deal? -What role will the freshman play? Who will have the biggest impact? -How much will the defense improve with the addition of Jordy and the bulking up of Morrow and Jacobson? -Will Michael Lewis have us humming offensively, with one of the most complete rosters in Miles career? And I'm sure you guys could come up with even more. 8 more football games until the exhibition.

  2. Extremely quick release. Seems to have good touch. Shoots well off the dribble. Has a nice floater. Appears to have good range. Should be able to create his own shot at the next level but also looks like a good facilitator. Doesn't get much jump into the jumper but it's a compact motion on the shot that should be very repeatable. Sneaky athletic. Saw a vid of him dunking quite easily multiple times.

  3. Since my "theories" are usually wild guesses and rarely accurate, I have to celebrate the exceedingly-rare instance of having one hit the mark. Check today's quote from Robin Washut about the new Nebrasketball walkon: "From a basketball standpoint, Shultis is really nothing more than a practice body. However, . . . Shultis currently boasts a GPA nearing a perfect 4.0, and if he were to be awarded the open scholarship NU has for this season, it would provide a huge boost to the Huskers' team APR."

That's the Normy seal of approval. Also, it appears that he has relatively hair-free legs, so that's two big checkmarks in the "do want" box. Anybody have any thoughts on the way his knees bend?

  6. Also that kind of kid understands his role and usually isn't a team cancer. Also allows some of thses guys the chance to see small town Nebraska and maybe shoot a gun.

I have a hard time imagining Shultis will get the open scholarship considering he is a soph. Perhaps if he was a senior then maybe it would work out....but I don't think we want him taking up a scholarship for the next three years. Unless we only plan on having Shultis around for this year? Either way...it would probably be smart to keep it open in case a midyear transfer becomes available.

I also mentioned something about having "smart" walk-ons who fill in a hole on the roster such that they might aid the team in a number of ways, primarily as practice players. And yet, if they do exceedingly well, they can use the 'open' schollie to help the team APR as well. Great minds think alike~!

  9. I meant to say Nana and either Stewart or Thomas Allen. I couldn't remember Allen's name and I just now remembered it lol.

Me too. The biggest question this season in my mind is his ability to run the team. I know he can score and we have some talent around him, but can the offense function? How will you know if he's running the offense? I think point guards are overvalued at the college level because the coaches are running the offense from the sidelines by shouting out the plays on most every possession (they feel they need to be in control because of the high stakes of the job). How will we know if Watson has control of the offense if Miles is running the show from the bench? This is not a knock on Miles or Watson. I'm just asking because I truly don't know. Couldn't disagree more. Point guard play might be the single best indicator of success. What will I be watching? (1) How much he dribbles (2) how soon in the shot clock the ball starts moving (3) how soon he looks for his own shot (4) how he reacts when he's in charge and things aren't going well. Miles may call the set their running, but Glynn has to make it happen on the floor. I like Glynn and think he'll be terrific. But he's running the show this year, not coming in mostly off the bench and he's going to have to adjust to being in charge. I think MJ will be solid this year, we've got several guys who can play 4 and Tai and Gill are both experienced hands. So I've got my eyes on Watson.

  11. Reminds me of a young, skinny Chris Paul. Grounded game, explosive and decisive, but not overly athletic. Always looking to pass but never actually specifically looking at one thing (in other words, he sees everything, but you're not ready for it as a defender). Has the floater, explosive change of speed. Edit: yep, just watched another video - Chris Paul is what I'll go with.
