  3. I'd be willing to bet Teddy ends up being a guy that transfer after 1-2 years or is a career back up. Nothing necessarily concrete but based on the little I've heard and just following recruiting like crazy over the years thats what I think happens. A guy that has had issues off the court and in the classroom regardless of if its all in the past is a red flag. The fact he should be in college right now instead of HS also raises a red flag for me because he didnt gain any of these offers until this summer where he was 1-3 years older than any of the other kids he was playing against which you would hope happens when youre playing younger guys. Finally though its not a huge deal, he hasnt played any talent during his years at Boys Town which hinders his talent development heading into college. I could be completely wrong and for the kids sake I hope thats the case but this one to me leans the other way based on similar cases.

  5. I was right in the middle of posting the same: we will have open minutes for guards coming up and these are two guards that are making official visits. I'd look for a post player should another scholarship open up (they always do)

9er, you had my man Shavon for all those years. It's my guy Isaiah. I may be wrong, but I believe Norm claimed Roby before anybody...you'll want to speak with him about that. Also, I must remind you that having "a guy" is a pretty big responsibility that cannot be taken lightly. One must choose wisely!

Jordy's post defense is the #1 thing I'm looking forward to most because I think it will have an immense effect on everyone else's ability to guard. I'm very excited to see what Molinari can scheme when we can actually match up.

  9. Our offense was much more individual iso plays when we made the dance then it was this last year.

i'm looking forward to this year more than any in the last 20 or so... that run a few years back to the ncaa's came out of the blue... what miles has built so far has taken time, patience, and talent dont get me wrong, i don't think we'll be a finished product this year, but we've got a shot at growing into something pretty good in a year to a year and a half and i want to enjoy the ride.

  12. Way before he caught lightning in a bottle for a 6 week period. Oh well...another losing season coming up.I love how people downplay the NCAA tournament appearance with the "lightning in a bottle" argument and act as though it didn't count or was a bad thing. Of course it was lightning in a bottle, it resulted in a tourney appearance we won recruiting battles as a result.I've said this before but this needed to be a slow build for Miles. He got lucky with some transfers right away but then the same transfers bit him in the ass the next year. 14-15 was a complete disaster but anybody with eyes could see progression and promise with the freshman class during the 15-16 season. Now here we are heading into 16-17 with Miles' first legit recruiting class (done plugging holes) heading into their sophomore year. He's added more pieces in Roby, Horne, Gill, and Tshimanga (the first legit big man) and now there's plenty of people calling for Miles' head? I very much doubt that this year will be another losing season.

  13. so did we back off white or did dana talk him out of coming here? Timing is everything: Oregon's semester started much later than NU's. If you think the timing of start of the school year truly had anything to do with the decision making, I've got some land in Florida to sell to you. You might just want to stick to chripin on cats out of the metro yo.

  14. Wow Dana Altman is leaving scholarships open? I know you are joking but....I would be surprised if he has done so 5 years in a row. Either way, nobody would probably say a peep about not utilizing scholarships if we were coming off an elite 8 run as opposed to two losing seasons. Exactly. The last two seasons have been particularly frustrating record-wise. The unused scholarships Miles has had over the past seasons is not the reason we haven't been to the elite 8 and it's not the reason we've struggled. I know all the arguments about competition in practice and all of that but I really have to laugh at anyone saying Miles is an idiot or calling it a self imposed ban when a scholarship goes unfilled. Those scholarships could be used easily but they're going to go to a talent that's on the end of the bench. It's not like Miles is saying no to 4 and 5 star guys and leaving the 'ships open. He's doing a heckuva nice job top loading the roster with talent. Now I t's time for the talent he's brought in to develop and produce, and if they don't then that will be the reason Miles doesn't work out. But it won't be because he left scholarships open instead of bringing in bodies to fill a number requirement. I've heard far too many uneducated 'fans' call for Miles head this offseason with some of the reasons being 'he's an idiot/self-imposed ban' and this makes him unfit for a high major job. Hopefully I'm not too far off, but if we see similar growth this year with the sophomores as we saw during the season last year, then a lot of people are going to be surprised. Get a spark from Gill and see promise from a couple freshman and people are going to be really surprised. I don't think things are as bleak as some are making it out to be. Season can't get here soon enough.

  15. Ouch. Chuck Taylor is still correct, according to Robin Washut. Matter of semantics, I'd asked someone about the scholarship being pulled and was told no. I'll admit to being wrong. I had planned to use my board cred as collateral on a new car, guess I'll be sticking with my '98 Buick.
