  1. On 8/23 @ 6 AM I laid myself down for what turned into an 8 hour surgery where they split your chest and pull out your heart (yes, they did confirm I still have one) and try to fix it. Then I spent the next 4 days unconscious and the last few getting up enough strength to read this board. I am not sure whether this topic or the hospital was more painful. I picked a great time to take a nap!

  2. Ha! Yeah. How bad can it get? Let's see: --we lose out on -- but nearly signed -- a previously top-50 player --Texas beats us for a top-flight recruit --We part ways with a no-star recruit --We finally sign a 6'10" Center that the coaches have been after for a couple years --We are competing with Ohio St. for a 2017 point guard Yep. Those items are true sign of a program on the ropes . . . not.

  3. Yeah, plus we'll be rolling out a roster at least 2/3 full of Rivals 150 guys. Several of whom are ESPN 100 guys. Probably the best collection of talent we've had on the Husker roster since the Nee glory days... Things are really heading south quick, aren't they?

  4. ...and by 2/3 full of Rivals 150 guys you must remember that means eight (8) of twelve (12) kids on the current roster are Rivals 150's. Most here agree that Webster and McVeigh, if they were US kids, would have also comfortably made the Rivals 150 as well. So it's technically a roster that includes 10 out of 12 kids who are top 150 players. ...and people want to crack on coach Miles because he was unable to land a couple of guys, one who is headed to an elite program in Texas and another who appears destined for Oregon (who is no slouch either). I believe we may want to step off the ledge a bit.

  6. FYP. In all serious, we got in early on Jericho and obviously really liked him. But when the big boys started to come calling I think it was pretty clear we didn't have a shot. The good news is we have a couple PG visits coming up and that's a position of need. Hopefully we can land Stewart or Allen.

  15. We have to beat Iowa every time we play them. That's true in every sport. As for added scoring punch I think some one will step up or better yet we will have consistent contributions from the team as a whole from game to game. Better bench scoring would help in that respect.

  18. Part of that will depend on the game plan and what they ask him to do. I hope they run the hell out of him. Obviously if he gets hurt we are probably in trouble but I think they should unleash him. Also, I think Newby/Ozigbo are going to turn out to be a pretty darn good 1/2 punch this year. We shall see

    Zay Roby out 6-8 weeks

I've heard/read 3 open ships reported incorrectly a few different times the past couple of weeks, not sure where that number got started in the media, but it has been circulating. They just need this page: http://huskerhoopscentral.com/scholarships

  21. It's not guaranteed that we leave Arop's spot open. Have a long ways to go before fall 2017. I believe another 2017 offer was just announced today. Tim Miles would be wise to fill out the roster for once next year....not signing a local kid and leaving an open scholarship will garner quite a bit of backlash I would guess.

  23. Well, if you have specific information, share it. If you are just looking for a reason to slam Miles, without any actual knowledge of what went down with White, then you are right to keep your mouth shut.

  25. Omaha is not a cesspool and it's not bluejay land. It's where I live. There are more NU grads in Omaha than Creighton. Miles with either win which will help the relationship and attractiveness of the program or be replaced by someone who can try to buddy up with Omaha AAU.

  27. The issue here is that Nebraska could have had this conversation in the spring which potentially gives Arop more time to get himself recruited somewhere else at that time. I'm not sure there would be a lot less hard feelings though because regardless of when you're talking about changing the terms of a scholarship offer to the Nebraska POTY. As you can see, Miles and Nebraska lost some supporters today/yesterday. I can see your point. And yes, Nebraska has lost some supporters "today". If Nebraska lands Paul White and/or fills the 2017 recruiting class with players on the level of Watson, Morrow, Jacobson, Roby, etc... Then I think the results on the court will speak for themselves and justify Nebraska in this. There will be a few Omaha high school basketball fans that will hold on to this longer, but most will forget about it once football season starts in a week. Tim Miles job = win games. And he probably has to make a huge jump in that department either this season, or the next. Otherwise he may be gone. He has to take the best players he can. In the grand scheme of things winning basketball games >>>> making people in omaha basketball circles happy because fielding guys from Nebraska doesn't keep you employed, winning does. Not entirely true. Winning is definitely priority #1, 2 and 3, but there are a myriad of additional factors that come into play. Momentum and trajectory are also important. Coaches that can hang their hat on strong recruiting and young teams keep their jobs when coaches with similar records, but downward trajectories, lose theirs. Appeasing donors is also part of that formula. A guy like Bo Pelini has a shorter leash compared to someone who plays the fundraising game better. And rolled into that concept is stuff like recruiting the right kind of kids-- kids that boosters are proud to have on the team. I.E. decent grades, don't get arrested, from in-state and/or local, etc. Winning covers a multitude of deficiencies. But if you're not winning, you'd better be doing EVERYTHING else right. Prior to this off-season, I'd say Miles was doing just that; but now he's whiffed on the majority of his top 2017 prospects, he just cut ties with a popular in-state kid, and he had a major fall-out with last year's best player. Add that all up, and Miles' margin for error just shrunk tremendously.

  30. I'm sick of wearing my scarlet colored glasses for Husker hoops and Tim Smiles...tired of it. Five years in a row without a complete roster? WTH? Incompetence at best. How can anyone justify that. I ask ONE person to justify it...just one good reason.
